Introduction
Individual development in related to business requires honing some skills. A good amount of focus will
be given to developing skills for a professional working within HR department. Skills are to be analysed
and a PDP is to be made by considering strength and weaknesses. Second section will consider Boeing
UK and role of CPD in developing employees and increasing performance of this organisation is to be
evaluated. Benefits of HPW will be discussed and recommendation will be provided for implementing it.
Boeing UK is an aerospace company with headquarter in UK. The largest aviation operator in the air
transport industry, Boeing UK is a subsidiary of the American organisation Boeing Company. The
organisation began its operations in the UK in 2002 and currently provides employment to 29,000
employees in the economy (Boeing.co.uk, 2019). The company presents a 54% employment rate in the
society and collects revenue of £800,000 the company is a beacon in the aircraft designing and
development sector in the country (Boeing.co.uk, 2019). The company invests £16.5 million in their R&D
department to provide various stakeholders with annual spending of £29.5million in employee
engagement and training in their 65 locations within the UK (Boeing.co.uk, 2019).

P1 Determine appropriate and professional knowledge, skills and behaviours that are required by
HR professionals
The following skills are required for HR mangers and advisors for any organisation. These skills will be
evaluated in the next section.
Communication skill
HR professionals needs to coordinate with many employee regularly, thus communication is required to
maintain proper coordination. A person having good communicating abilities should have three subparts
of this skill. HR employee should be able to write fluently, speak in a fluent manner and have great body
language to make good impression (Delamain and Spring, 2017).
Leadership skill
Leadership quality inside a HR professional is vital for making a team perform more effectively. A leader
has the ability to lead the team and guide them in difficult situations. It is seen, that HR professionals,
who have leadership skills, can become more successful in an organisation (DuBrin, 2015).
Technical skill
In recent period, technical and some basic computer skills are mandatory for HR professionals. This
person needs to know about numerous software, which is used in organisations for conducting business
activities. Therefore, proficiency is necessary to make sure that these skills are well learned by employees
at HR department.
Teamwork skill
HR managers and advisors have to work in various teams. These teams can contain people from various
race, country and gender. This person with his abilities can make functioning of a team better by working
as a mediator. The contribution of an HR person is huge inside a team, as it helps in establishing a great
work culture inside an organisation (Lacerenza et al., 2018).
Decision taking skill
HR employees often make crucial decisions for their company, which gives them greater financial
benefits. These decisions come from well calculated strategies and minute analysis by taking

consideration of many factors. Therefore, HR employees should possess sharp decision taking skills (Noe
et al., 2017).
There are some additional attributes, which should be considered for these job roles. Quality for doing
hard work is very important. It is necessary for having better professional career for them. They also
require good patience for tackling critical situations, while keeping their calmness. These staffs will
require having good knowledge about regulations of business.

Reflective statement
This development plan for skills was very useful for me. I used to lack these skills before and my
professional career was suffering due to this. My inability to speak English was making communication
impossible and there was huge amount of misunderstanding with other people due to this. After gaining
this skill, I am much fluent in English and can speak properly with people. My improper leadership style
was affecting my career and I used to make serious mistakes in it. This development plan was sufficient
for me to improve my ability. My technical proficiency at using MS office was lacking and it was
difficult for me to understand this software at initial level. I learnt about various team-forming theories
and understood my role inside a team. It is helping me to function smoothly inside a workgroup. These
skills were very difficult to achieve at initial stage and would not have been possible for me to gain these
without help of my tutors. Books and journals helped me a lot to gain these skills. Now I can say that I am
very much proficient in these skills and can use it in my professional career.

P3 Analyse the differences between organisational and individual learning, training and
development
Organisational learning, training and development are fulfilled through the efficiency of the staffs and
the ability of the company to generate better results in their business operations. The application of
“organisational learning and development” ensures the employees within the organisation are able to gain
knowledge and skills relevant to their job roles. The prospect of organisational “learning, development
and training” (LDT) is attained by the company through integration of better staff training sessions and
employee engagement tactics (Namada, 2018). The scope of generating better employee engagement
within the organisational framework is based on the aspect of providing CPD to teams and departments as
a whole instead of individuals. The training sessions are tailored with the aim of reducing the skills and
knowledge gap for the entire department.
Individual learning, training and development are achieved within the organisational setting through the
application of effective LTD in improving the skills level of the employees. The ability of the
management to integrate efficient CPD in their organisational framework enhances the scope of
individual development through enhancement of skills and knowledge relevant to their job roles. Training
the staffs through appropriate learning styles ensures they are able to experience innovative situations and
gather knowledge that can be applied within their job roles (Bendell, 2017). The tenets of individual
development would provide the employees in an organisational setting to perform their job roles with
efficiency and attain their professional goals in the business environment.
P4 Analyse the need for continuous learning and professional development to drive sustainable
business performance
The need for organisational development within the internal environment of the company is based on the
performance of individual development that every employee experiences. The management of
organisations need to provide appropriate learning opportunities for the individuals to gain effective
knowledge and skills in their job roles. Considering the industry that Boeing operates within, it is
essential for the company to provide its employees with the opportunity to gain better skills while
functioning within the organisation. The strategy of implementing continuing professional
development (CPD), in their internal operations would provide certain benefits to the organisational
development through the personal growth of employees (Moore, 2017). The procedure of CPD involves
proving the employees with the scope to “maintain and develop relevant skills and knowledge” that
