INTRODUCTION
Skills are some types of abilities that provide expertise knowledge or way of doing a
particular kind of task or activities. These skills can be developed through training, practising
and experiencing or even are built within from childhood. These skills provide a person with an
edge form other people in certain type of work related to the skill he / she has (Vidyakala, 2018).
The following report is based on analysing learning styles that can help a student in studying
effectively and getting good grades. The VARK model is defined with four of its included
elements – visual, auditory, read & write and kinaesthetic types of learners. These are different
types of learners that have different preferences to study. At last, the report concludes the
personal experience of the author with his / her preferred style of learning.
MAIN BODY
Discussing the four types of learning styles consisted in VARK model :
VARK is a modal that is made up four different elements that helps in analysing the
preference of different students. Through this model, the learning ability and preference of a
student can be analysed that can aid in enhancing their learning capacity. The model was made
by Neil Fleming in the year 1987 with the motive of helping students to identify their learning
style and achieve growth in their academics. The four elements and learning styles of this model
are mentioned in the following points :
Visual learners – This learning style tells about the preference of students to take use
and depend more of their eye senses to study. The learners of this style prefer sitting in
formant of the classrooms and just focusing on what is being taught ahead of them
without any interruptions and questions asked. These students generally have detailed
notes which are clear organised and categorised through using several ways of making
distinction such as using colour coding, highlighters, diagrams and graphs. To help the
related types of learners sketch notes can be used (Chang-Tik, 2018). Sketch notes are
some types of a combination that involves text and doodling in it to make information
understanding quick and associate meaning with the representation.
Auditory learners – These type of learners believe more in studying thorough using
their ear senses more or by listening. They are more practical and believe in listening the

views of other people to understand the topic deeply. These type of students prefer to
study from audio or video components. They even focus on the rate and tone of speech of
other people. Flip grid and Synth are some ways that can help auditory learners. A
strategy known as telephone as also be used in which the students are told a story or some
material which they have to retell in their own words when their turn comes.
Read and write learners – These are the the type of students or learners that basically
prefer to have text formatted tools as their study materials. Playing with the words can be
said as their hobby such as rephrasing the sentences or paragraphs that they have learnt to
improve their writing skills and learn the topic accurately (Cabual, 2021). The revision is
done through notes and they even write statements by looking at the diagrams. These
learners or students can be helped by having presentation as the assessments where they
can collect or get a large amount of information and creating presentation report on them.
Kinaesthetic learners – It is also said as a multi sensory learning style, as in the students
take use of both – visual and auditory learning study techniques. The practising of old
methods of studying and spending the school hours at a same place in the classrooms are
avoided. This type of learning style requires materials that can be touched or felt for
having clear information. The practising of physical activities that can help in studying is
promoted in this style (JP and Ranadev, 2018). This is the type of style that is made to
avoid the old and traditional styles of teaching and making the students more specific and
knowledge through getting practical knowledge. These type of learners can be helped
using games and other activities that gives a social message or information about the
study materials and avoiding listening to lectures.
Personal experience – Describing learning style of the author or the learning style preferred by
him / her that can help I study better :
There are many different types of learning styles that are being practised in different parts
of the world. There can different preferences of learning techniques of different individuals or
students and these must be used by the individuals according to their abilities and liking as the
results can differ in different individuals whatever the type of learning style. According to my
personal experience in the academic related world, the learning style that should be promoted
and used often in the academic institutions such as schools and college is the kinaesthetic
learning style. This learning style is the most practical type of style that provide the students with
study from audio or video components. They even focus on the rate and tone of speech of
other people. Flip grid and Synth are some ways that can help auditory learners. A
