Introduction
The profession of teaching requires not only developing but also utilising as well as organising
various forms of resources. The education provided to the different kinds of students requires
utilisation of different forms of resources. These resources have to be extracted or developed at
first. Consequent to that, the resources have to be implemented appropriately for providing
effective and meaningful education to then diverse students. In addition to that, these resources
have to be organised methodically as well. In this study, the purposes of the different resources
in the context of teaching will be explained. In addition to that, the effectiveness of particular
resources for addressing individual learning requirements in will also be devalued in this study.
Moreover, the different principles related to resource designing will be analysed.
Apart from that, the manner in which principles, theories along with models related to inclusive
curriculum design might be utilised for informing development of resources will be analysed.
Additionally the legal responsibilities and requirements that are related to the improvement and
utilisation of teaching resources, along with its implications will be reviewed in this study.
Lastly, the manner in which teaching resources can be implemented for enabling inclusive
approach will be analysed.

Task
Explain the purpose of resources in teaching and learning (AC1.1)
In learning and teaching environment, the development, acquiring and delivery of quality
learning depends on the resources and materials used for it. Teaching and learning involves wide
range of learning and teaching resources. The primary objective of using different materials or
resources is to help the teachers to have assisting information as well as to students grasp the
knowledge in an effective way. Resources, also known as teaching materials vary according to
the type of subject, the age, and ability of the learners and the kind of information needed to be
conveyed. The resources are essential because it helps the students to achieve success in
learning. These resources act as a guide to the students as well as the teachers. Further, the
learning resources provide valuable routine and it helps in reinforcement of the information as
well as enables the students to explore more with it (Huda et al., 2018).
Moreover, the learning materials help the teachers to delegate their professional duty. The
resources or learning materials includes differentiation of instruction. The differentiation of
instruction can be referred as the tailoring of lessons as well as instructions related to the lessons
in various learning styles and within the capacity of the classroom. In addition to this, the
resources employed for effective teaching and learning can include group activities, assignments,
worksheets, which are in according to learning style of the student. The teacher can also use
technological aids, as the teaching resources (Song and Bonk, 2016). With the advancement of
technology and growth of internet, the resources for teaching are easily available and the
materials are quite valuable, as it can provide abundant materials for each subject.
It can be stated that the learning materials are the assets for effective learning and it increases the
students’ interest towards studies. In other words, if the teacher invests in the resources required
for learning and teaching, it shall be value for money and time. The use of resources is important,
as teacher in early years, for making the learning effective and interesting. The use of
technological resources such as visual aids or videos can break the monotony of the traditional
teaching and engage the students for longer period (Duchesne and McMaugh, 2018). Thus, the
purpose of the resources in learning and teaching is to enhance the quality of learning and make
students more engaged in learning.

Evaluate the effectiveness of specific resources in meeting individual learning needs in
teaching and learning contexts (AC1.2), (AC2.6) 380
Every learner has some specific learning needs, which consists of the learning tools and the basic
knowledge or learning content. The learning tool consists of the oral expressions, numeracy,
problem solving, and literacy (Dean, 2016). On the other hand, the learning content includes the
knowledge, values, skills, as well as attitudes. It is important to identify and cater the specific
learning needs of the learner. The identification of the learner’s needs shall enable the teacher to
decide and select appropriate teaching resources or learning materials (Stronge, 2018). The
different resources, which can help in meeting the individual learning needs, are as follows:
Syllabus: The teacher must identify the learners’ needs and document a course of study
according to the needs. This document outlines the course outlines the requirements as
well as the expectations of the students (Buchanan et al., 2017). Thus, syllabus is one
resource, which can appropriately cater to the needs of learners. Online course module: It is the resource, which is completely available online. The
complete curriculum is uploaded in online module, which can enable the students to
access the module anytime and from anywhere. It shall help the learners to meet their
needs and it is independent of complete course. Development tool: These are the technological resources, which is the software
development applications mediums for the tailoring technological resources. These
resources include different websites, applications and learning objects, which can cater to
the specific needs of the learners (Hulse and Owens, 2019). Drill and Practice: It is resource of catering to the learning needs through different
activities. The activities usually require the learners to respond to different questions or
situation and it helps the learners by developing their ability and enhances their
knowledge and skills. Tutorials: These are tailored activities specifically designed to meet the learning
objectives, which are structured in order to impart specific skills. These shall hep in
understanding and meeting the needs of learners. Assignments: It is one resource, which is usually assigned to the learners for assessing
the needs as well as catering to some of specific one. The assignments are specially

designed to assess the skills and knowledge of the learners and based on the knowledge
the teachers can design further resources. Assessment tools: The tools of assessment includes the forms, templates, as well as the
technologies for the measuring the performance of the learners. It is the type of resource,
which can help teacher to test the knowledge of the learners and then according to the
outcomes can decide further about the resources.
Analyse principles of resource design (AC2.1)
The resource design refers to the preparation of different learning resources. These learning can
vary from textbooks to online modules or different technology and visual aids used in learning
and teaching. Therefore, designing the resources of learning must be appropriate, as it must be
designed in accordance to the objectives of teaching and the requirements of the learners. Hence,
when designing the resources of learning, it is important to follow some specific principles. The
significant principles, which must be followed, are:
The resources must be designed in such a way that it is able to satisfy the learners’ needs
and must be intellectually relevant to the learning outcomes. Thus, it is essential to
design the resources and ensure effective learning outcomes (Schumacher and Mayer,
2018).
In learning and teaching environment, it is important to consider those learners as well
who have learning or any other disabilities. They have different specific needs, which
might be distinctive from other learners. Therefore, while designing the resources, it is
important, as a teacher to keep track of these considerations as well. Thus, the resources
must be designed in such a way that it is accessible to those who have disability.
It is crucial to prepare the resources in the way that it is visually clear and visible. In case
the resources are not clear, then the learning shall be futile and the needs of the learners
would not be satisfied (Brown and Green, 2015). Therefore, for effective conveyance
and communication, it is vital to ensure while designing the resources that text or visual
has clarity in visibility and is understandable.
The purpose of preparing learning resources is to cater to the needs of the learner and
hence it is important that the resources are able to engage the specific students. Thus, it
is essential to design the resources is such a way that it is able to engage the specific
6

students, for whom the resources are being prepared. In case the resources are not able to
engage the students with its content and other details, then the learning can become
completely futile.
The fourth and the last principle, which the teacher or assessor must consider while
designing the resources are that the teacher must utilise the available assistance for
making the content of the resource appropriate. Therefore, it shall make the resource
more effective.
Analyse how theories, principle, and models of inclusive curriculum design can be used to
inform resource development (AC2.3)
For inclusive teaching, it is important design the curriculum using theories, principles and
models in such a way that it can inform the development of resources. The principles of inclusive
curriculum design are flexibility in teaching, flexibility in assessment, flexibility in teaching
materials, requirements for preparing the resource, and course materials accessible and available
for optimal involvement. These principles of inclusive curriculum design can effectively inform
development of the resources, as it takes into consideration all the aspects, which shall contribute
in the inclusive teaching (Moriña, 2017). In case, if all these are followed, the teaching shall
enable all the students to participate in the learning. Therefore, the principles are important
criteria in order to prepare the inclusive curriculum design as well as inform the resource
development. On the contrary, the models and theories of inclusive curriculum design can
contribute in the informing about resource development. It is because the theories and model
includes the ways to practice inclusive teaching and ways to make the teaching and learning
more interactive and participative (McKenney and Reeves, 2018).
Moreover, for the intensive understanding of the course, the learning material design, and its
development is considered significant to the theories of the learning program. It shall explore the
extent to which these two terms can be diverse, as these two shall help in designing for inclusive
curriculum. Apart from the analysis of the structure and effects of the factors, the inclusive
curriculum design must also include the outcomes of designing. In context to early years in
teaching, a teacher must ensure that the learning must be inclusive, wherein all the students are
able to participate and interact. The curriculum designed by the teacher needs to be in a way that
the students are able to interact with the teacher as well as other students, and participate in the

learning (Adams and Bell, 2016). Therefore, the factors which initiate their participation and
calling for interaction are considered, when an inclusive curriculum is being designed. Therefore,
in resource development, the design of the inclusive curriculum is important, including the
theories, principle, and models used by inclusive teaching.
Review legal requirements and responsibilities relating to the development and use of
resources and its implications (AC 4.1), (AC 4.2)
Legal requirements can be referred to as the law, regulation, code, or others as such put into
action or effect by the governing authority (Pather, 2015). On the other hand, legal
responsibilities can be defined as the legal obligation that teachers have regarding development
and utilisation of the teaching resources (Gonzalez-Mena, 2013). In the United Kingdom, there
are various legal requirements and legal responsibilities, which have to be strictly followed
during the development of the different types of teaching resources as well as their use. For
instance, the teachers have to consider the legal requirements regarding safety of the students
during development as well as use of various resources.
For instance, the teacher requires making sure that the various educational resources are used as
well as distributed in legal manner. In addition to that, the resources used for the students with
special requirements must align with the regulatory framework of “Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act” (Lipkin and Okamoto, 2015)
The necessity of following the legal requirements along with legal responsibilities during
development of the teaching resources, as well as their use, can sometimes limit various
manners. These ways could have made the entire process of learning more effective as well as
interesting. Nevertheless, following these requirements and responsibilities is very essential for
maintaining a standard as well as avoiding any sort of legal issues (Ary et al., 2018). The
teacher of early years must ensure that their teaching practice complies with the essential legal
regulations. The legal roles of related to teaching and learning affect the policies of the
institution. The legal roles and responsibilities tends to affect the teaching condition, physical
safety of the students, attendance of the school, maintenance of the order, rights of the students,
and teaching practice. The teaching conditions are affected by the legal considerations. It
includes the employment conditions, laws relating to labour, and related to collective bargaining.

Further, the physical safety of the students is important and the laws help in maintaining the
safety. The teacher must ensure that they are not neglected, or abused. In addition to this, there is
need of the rules for tracking the attendance of the students and the teacher need to maintain the
decorum of the students. There should be regulations related to the protecting the rights of the
students such as the freedom of speech and participation (Metzler, 2017). Therefore, it can be
stated that the legal role and responsibilities help in making the teaching and learning practice
efficient.
Evaluate sources that inform resource development, including emerging technology
(AC2.2), (AC2.5)
Resource development has different sources, which includes emerging technology and many
other ways to identify the sources. The sources of resource development are reviewing the
existing resources, literature, and the required software package, sample documents, on line
sources, promotional materials, and covering. The emerging technology is also one of the
sources of resource development. It must be noted that with the advancement of technology, it
development of resources became easy and accessible. With emergence of internet, it enabled the
teachers in resource development (Dyachenko et al., 2017). The resource development requires
access to different sources, which shall provide materials to the teachers for designing for
appropriate curriculum for inclusive practice of teaching and learning. The use of technology in
resource development shall help in making the resource interesting and presentable including
clarity of content and better visibility of the text. Moreover, the technology shall the resource
more accessible to the students and it can help in identifying the factors determining the search
for specific sources for development of the resources. Thus, the technology is appropriate source
for the resource development.
Further, in resource development, the considerations are suitability of contributing delivery,
methods of assessment cost effectiveness of the resources and as stated, the resource
development must be suitable for delivery in an appropriate learning and teaching setting. The
resources being developed must be appropriate for assessment and the preparation of resources
must be set within set budget (Dehua et al., 2017). Therefore, the resources must be cost
effective and use of technology shall help in preparing the resources. As stated above with the
emerging technologies, the development of learning resources has become easier. The
9

technology use in research development helps the teacher to collect relevant materials to design
the resources, in accordance to the specific needs of the learners. Thus, these sources required
and used for the development of the learning resources help the teacher by making the practice of
teaching and learning is appropriate and interesting.
Analyse ways in which resources can be adapted to enable inclusive approach (AC2.4)
Inclusive approach to education enables the teacher to recognise the diversity and value this
diversity of the varied learners and the effective strategies are formulated and to provide
appropriate learning support to the students. Therefore, in the inclusive approach, the resources
used must cater to the requirements of inclusive approach. It is responsibility, as a teacher of
early years, to select the resources of learning, in a way that it promotes inclusive education
(Armstrong et al., 2016). Therefore, it is significant to analyse the resources before it are used for
learning and teaching. For instance, the use of technological aids must be used inn accordance to
the principles of inclusive practice.
It is crucial to know the principles of inclusive teaching before developing the resources. There
are different principles for inclusive teaching, which are as follows:
Teaching all students: The resources being developed for the teaching and learning must
be such that it includes all the students and it would be enable them to access as well as
understand the concepts and theories
Explore multiple identities: It is important to design the resources according to the way
that it enables the teacher to recognise the different identities of the students. Therefore,
the resources must be developed so that it builds confidence of the students.
Preventing prejudice: It is one of vital principle of inclusive approach. The resources
should not promote any kind of prejudice or discriminatory behaviour or value
(Lawrence-Brown and Sapon-Shevin, 2015). Therefore, the teacher needs to design and
choose the resources, which shall promote inclusive behaviour in the learning
environment.
Promoting social justice: The resources being used in the learning and teaching practice
must promote social diversity and justice. The resources used, as a teacher of early years,
for teaching should be prepared carefully so that the students are not influenced by any

bias or discrimination. Thus, the teacher must select the resources of teaching, which
shall promote social justice.
Reflecting on your practice, identify your areas of strengths in developing and using
resources and areas you need to improve on. (ACs 5.1, 5.2 & 5.3)
In my opinion, the practice of the early years of teaching, I was able to identify my areas of
strength and areas of improvements. The major strengths, which I recognised are my
communication skills and motivational skills. Further, I realised that as teacher of early years, I
possess the ability to analyse and effectively identify the specific needs of the learners, and when
dealing with the person with disabilities, I am able to recognise and understand their needs.
These strengths enhance as well as improve my learning practice. The strengths, which I was
able to identify is that my communication skills is clear and I am able to communicate
effectively with my students. Moreover, as a teacher I am approachable, which enabled me to
make my bonding with the students effective and this makes my practice efficient along with
ensuring the students are more interested in the learning. Thus, the strengths make my practiced
and performance better and on the other hand, I was able to understand that there are several area
where I need to significant improvements.
I analysed my teaching practice using Gibb’s reflective model, wherein I was able to identify the
major areas of improvement. From the analysis of my teaching practice, I observed that I needed
to improve my critical thinking skills and skill to develop appropriate resources. I realised that I
lacked the critical thinking skills, as I have to deal with students, who belong age group of below
seven to ten years. These students are curious and sometime they are not able communicate it, so
as their teacher it becomes my duty to critically think and identify the issues they are facing.
When I faced this issue, I felt that I am not effective in my practice and I must work upon this
issue because it shall help to understand my students better. I was able to identify this especially
during the time I deal with students with disabilities. On evaluating, I think that it is major issue,
which must be resolved, as it shall affect the quality of my practice. On analysing the issue, I was
able to understand that I need to communicate and spend more time with these students in order
to understand their needs and curiosity along with being able to answer their questions. Thus, I
conclude that improvement in this area is essential for determining my performance in teaching
practice, which will help me to deal with it in future as well.

Conclusion
Form the above study, it has been deduced that the different kinds of resources that are related to
teaching are very essential for providing education. In addition to that, these are also extremely
important for catering the diverse learning requirements of the different students. The key
purpose of resources in the context of teach along with learning is to provide assistive and
accurate information to the students. The resources are important as it assists the students to
achieve success in learning. The effectiveness of particular resources, for instance syllabus,
online course module, drill, and practice, development tools, tutorials, assignments along with
assignment tolls have been evaluated in this study. In addition to that, it has been discovered that
recourses have to be designed in such a manner that it is capable of satisfying the requirements
of the learners.
In learning and teaching atmosphere, it is essential to consider the requirements of all the
different kinds of learners during developing the resources. Other than that, it has been found
that curriculums must be designed with the incorporation of theories, principles, as well as
models. Moreover, it has been deduced that reviewing the existing resources can be considered
as a source of resource development.
