INTRODUCTION
An individual is engaged into various activities which are helpful in achievement of their
success. The series of events and programmes organised for enhancement of skills and
knowledge of students. These set of skills plays significant role in personal and professional
growth of an individual. In many educational institution, the orientation programme has been
conducted to offer specialised knowledge and information to add value in the student's life.
Orientation practices brings transformation in the performance of students and ensure success in
their higher education (Clauson and McKnight, 2018). It facilitate an opportunity to develop and
manage their skills. This essay will analyse the three essential skills such as note taking skill,
presentation skill and team work skill. Further, it will explain the advantages of such skills and
its implication in real world through reflection.
TASK
Skills Analysis
The systematic evaluation has been made to ascertain my core skills which is required in my
academic learning. Firstly, Team work skill is important to manage and coordinate various
activities in group. This skills helps to encourage and inspire the individual towards the
achievement of common goal. It makes an individual, a result oriented to sustain growth at
personal and professional level. I am good in making team effective strategies to guide and direct
the individual in order to manage the work and meeting the deadlines of target. It is based on
collaborative approach where all the members are assemble and applying their ideas to
accomplish the task in a specified period of time. I am good to lead the team in one direction to
complete the assigned task on time. I am capable to influence the behaviour of an individual to
make active participation of my colleagues and team mates. The effective communication also
direct the team member to develop the specialised knowledge and skill in order to achieve higher
success in life. Such skills are vary crucial to bring transparency in the working culture.
The second skill is dealing with Presentation, which aims to represent the ideas and
thoughts of an individual. Presentation skill informs about the key component of company's
product and services in order to influence the other. It helps to make effective planning and
strategies to function properly. It facilitate the ideas and expression of individual and convey the
message to other person (Rao, 2019). I am unable to express my thoughts due to lack of

confidence and presentation skill. I analysed that presentation skill is important to deliver
message in most effective manner. I am working to overcome the challenges which I am facing
while presenting my views among people. I am learning with my seniors who are well in
presentation skill by involving into various group activities and discussions. I feel that continuos
practice will help me to overcome these barriers and will ensure success in life.
The third and last skill is Note-taking, it is dealing with note down of vital information to
use it for future learning process. It helps to record important and relevant information that are
crucial for effective learning. This is usually done during the ongoing lecture and just to recall it
for examination purpose. These information can revised later by recording the information
shared by the lecturers. I am good in note taking and many times, I shared the discussed
information with my peers. So, I manage all my work and assignments by preparing small notes
and revised whenever it is required. I attempt to cover all the topics so that no interruption can be
made in my effective academic learning. I organise all the information with small bullet pints
and paragraphs to avoid confusion and mistakes and cover it into various heads. It helps to
memorize the information quickly. It also enhance my learning capability. It categorise the
important and less important topics to score good position at academic level. Also, it ensure
better interaction and focus towards my education (Donia, O'Neill and Brutus, 2018). The proper
notes makes me good listener and learner in my higher education and helps in my success. The
growth can be experience by application of such skill in real world. It also helps an individual to
evaluate their performance and growth in higher education. It outlines the weaknesses and guide
the individual by giving them effective method to overcome such challenges of life. These skills
are not only important for higher education but ensure success at professional level as well. It
transform the personality of students and make them goal oriented person. The effective learning
process is continuos practices and requires lot of efforts to achieve the goal.
CONCLUSION
From this above report, it has been concluded that orientation for higher education
ensure the programmes that are important to ficus the core areas of students and develop their
skills and knowledge. These kind of orientation programme gives direction and guidance
towards the goal of life. It defines the necessity and importance of many skill that are important

to sustain growth in life. It includes communication skill, problem solving skill, presentations
skill, team management skill and many more. These skills are not only important for higher
education but ensure success at professional level as well. It helps to transform the personality of
students and make them goal oriented person.
