INTRODUCTION
Study skills are necessary to provide guidance to the individuals. These kind of skills
provide leadership across the range of study skills which are required at undergraduate level;
management of time and developing learning strategies (Assiter, 2017). Great study skills are
helpful and beneficial for increasing the confidence, competence and self esteem. They also
useful for minimizing anxiety related to tests and deadlines. Strong study skills help in
improving the ability of individuals and maintaining the level of knowledge. In this essay will be
discussed about the major reasons for studying a degree at university and the importance of core
academic skills which are necessary for development of an individual. Further will be defined
about a study plan which include short term and long term gaols.
MAIN BODY
When the students pass high school, they are thinking about to go to university for
graduated. There are various reasons for attending university but the main reason is related to the
type of education needs. They might think that higher education is beneficial for them so they are
excited to do something more meaningful. The main reason to join the university to gain
knowledge about a particular subject in deeply, better career opportunities, personal
development, getting knowledge about flexible learning option and others. . In it, the individual
chose a specific subject which is according to their interest. So in current time there are various
university and they offer a range of courses. For example, if a student who is interested in
physics then there are various coerces like Astrophysics and Cosmology, Introduction to Nuclear
and high energy etc. Than the person can chose any topic one of them and get deep information
about them to increase the level of own knowledge.
Another reason is related to career growth that college education help in leading better
career in the future. In most of nations, the organisation hire university graduates for filling the
vacant positions like managers, executives, supervisors etc. and offer them high pay and other
facilities (Douglas and et. al. 2015). For instant, if a student completed graduate degree in
accounting and finance then the manager select them for the position of operation manager, data
processing, accounting and others.
Core academic skills refers to those skills which are required to have a students for their
personal growth. Academic skills included reading, writing and mathematics rather then these

skills, there are other skills like communication skills that include oral and written
communication, mathematical skills, personal management, technology skill, l3earning styles,
paraphrasing, academic writing, note tasking etc. For example, if a student as weak any skill
then it can make improvement in them (Foster, 2017). If the person do not have good written
communication skill then the individual can make development in it. For this, the person can join
coaching classes, online courses, friend's supports and others. To make development and
improvement is necessary so that the person can easily share their views and ideas to others. In
university, when the person attend classes and preparing notes related to the subject then if the
individual have not good written communication the person will not note correct information
about any topic.
Another skill is mathematical or calculation skill which is also required for improvement.
This skill can be developed by solving numerical problems, by watching online lecture and
online classes. To make development in these skills is important because it help in the basic
calculation or thinking critically. This skill is beneficial for maintaining finance. For example, if
the student are working or doing job in a company in finance department then they can help the
company in finance related activities.
To develop a study plan which include short term and long term goals that will be helpful
for acquiring and developing skills and knowledge like communication, technical skill, academic
writing, learning style etc. For developing communication skill, the student can include short
term goal. For example if the individual has weak communication skill than it can make
development in this skill with the help of coaching classes, watching online videos, online
courses and other various ways. For this the person can set long term goal of 3 months. In this
time period, the person can make improvement in oral and written communication skill.
If the student has weak learning skill and style then the person can make development by
setting short term objectives like 2 months. In this time period the person can make improvement
by making concentration on the relevancy that which is relevant for the study or not. The
individual can developed it by use a range of learning media, establishing clear learning goals,
take time to reflect or self explanation and by finding out any gaps in their knowledge. For
making improvement in academic writing, the students can set short term goals of 1.5 months
(Lim, 2018). To make improvement in this skill, they can attend online classes, use the right
vocabulary, getting a strong understanding of basic grammar, punctuation and style etc.

To make improvement in paraphasing skill, the individual can developed it by reading

CONCLUSION
From the above information it can be conclude that there are various different reasons for
going to universities to the students. They can showing more internet in it because they want to
enhance the level of their knowledge. It help in the career development and providing good job
to them which make improvement in their future growth. There are various skill which are
required for their study and career growth like communication, mathematical skill, academic
writing, paraphrasing and others. These skills can be developed by them for using different ways
of improvement like internet, online classes and others.
