INTRODUCTION
Today's business environment becomes very competitive and that's why it is necessary
for students to take courses from the university and develop skills and knowledge. This is
identified by students that job market is becoming so complex and competitive and due to this
disguised unemployment is increasing (Akhmetshin and et.al., 2019). For dealing such kind of
challenges, students need to study well in the University as it is the best source from which they
can develop skills and knowledge. Skills which are developed in the University not only assists
at that time but also plays an important role in the workplace. That is the reason that students
should take serious University study as it helps them to develop employability skills. With this
skill, they are able to deal with the competition in job market as they are becoming competitive
also. This report will be discussing five important skills which are developing in the University
and necessary for workplaces also. This report also covered recommendations in order to
improve the content of CV.
TASK
Five skills that students require to be successful at university and also important in workplace
In today's market, everyday the competitive is increasing in every field. In order to deal
with the competition, an individual needs to develop some important skills so that they can
become competitive to which makes them different from others (Suarta and et.al., 2017). They
should be able to create value for company as it assists them to get high chances of good job
opportunities. For that purpose, it is necessary for individuals to develop skills. They can start
with University study as at that time they can learn skills and knowledge. Some important skills
are mentioned below which require by students for successful at University and in workplace:
Time Management Skills
Time management skill is very important for an individual so that they can accomplish
their goals and objectives effectively. It is found that in University students require effective time
management skills as at that time they are studying as well as developing some knowledges in
order to grow their future (Graham). So time should be manage as if it will not manage then it
becomes very tough to complete a task. For example, a student who is studying in the University
and doing a part time job. In this case, he/she should be manage their time accordingly as he/she
require to take lectures timely and complete their assignments also. In addition to this, they need

to manage their job so that's why time management plays an important role. In the workplace,
these students should possess time manage skills as there are many activities which they need to
perform and complete (Rios and et.al., 2020). For that purpose, they require an effective time
management so that they will manage their work and maintain a balance between personal and
professional life.
IT Skills
In University, students require IT skills as after pandemic the use of technology is
increasing such as now students take classes online (Mbaitiga). So that's why IT skills is crucial
for them to possess in order to be successful at University. In the workplaces, if students already
have a knowledge of IT them it create a high chances of their recruitment as day by day the
organisations use only technology so they require candidates who are proficient in use of
technology that means IT.
Communication Skills
Communication skills is the basic necessity in University as well as in workplaces. An
individual should possess communication skills so that they are able to communicate with each
other. In University, there are many students who are studying together if any of them has a
query then it is necessary for them to communicate. In that situation, they require an effective
communication in order to resolve their query. Whereas at workplaces, communication skills is
the priority for any company and that's why it comes essential criteria. That means company
select candidates on this basis.
Goal Setting Skills
Goal setting skill is very important as it requires at every stage of life. In regular day,
students need to set goals that they should learn till that time. So for successful in University,
students should possess goal setting skills (Suleman, 2018). Whereas it also require at
workplaces, this is necessary for employees to possess goal setting skills as then only they can
accomplish their job objectives. Otherwise they are not able to complete their regular task
without goals setting skills.
Analytical skills
Analytical skill is concerned with the abilities which allows to collect, assimilate,
organise and visualise the data. This will helps students to come on a conclusion. It requires in
University so that students are able to find the solutions of problems. In the workplaces, it is very

helpful for boosting the employee productivity and performances. There are many situations
occur in the job where it is necessary for employees that they should possess analytical skills.
The above discussion shows that an individual needs to focus on developing above five
important skills in University as it assists them to develop employability skills which assists for
their future (Arora and et.al., 2020). The job market is becoming so competitive and these skills
helps an individual to beat the competition with the assistance of five mentioned skills.
Five recommendations that help students for improving content of CV
In job market, CV plays an important role as it gives the first impression to the
interviewer. This is very important for individuals to make an effective and innovative CV
content so that interviewer get impressed at that time (Pitan, 2017). It is found that there are
many consideration which should be kept in mind while they are make their CV. So below are
some recommendations which assists students in order to improve their content of CV:
It is recommended to the students that they should take degrees which write in the CV
that shows how much an individual study. This creates a good impression when
individuals write their degrees to the interviewer. It shows the knowledge posses in an
individual. The main aim of any CV is to convey the achievements and degrees to the
interviewer that shows he/she is eligible for selection. Degrees represent the knowledge
which they possess due to the study.
It is recommended to the students to become active on social media which include emails
that should be show on the top of CV. This is very necessary as if interviewer see any
interest in students then they can easily communicate with the students. Communication
is very necessary as interviewer need to convey to the students that they are select or not
(Freisthler and Drucker). If they are not select then they should know their weaknesses
which can be improve by them. That's why social media presence is very important for
them.
Students should focus on the language and structure of the CV as it is crucial to be I a
systematic and formal manner. It is found that writing style of CV playing an important
role as it shows their formal structure. If it is found by interviewer that CV is not in a
good structure then it shows that he/she is not eligible for the job. This gives a bad
impression on the interviewer which results in negative marks.

Students should put their personal statement in the CV. Their personal statement should
be every effective and this can be possible when students include some important
considerations. It involves a brief or short personal statement, highlight their experience,
personal and professional qualities, strongest skills, etc. This is very helpful in getting a
right job as interviewer can easily know that what candidate wants from the company and
eligible for that job.
This should be considered by students i.e. trim the excess. It is found in many cases that
students write excess in CV which is actually not require. If students is writing the excess
then it gives a bad impression on the interviewer. They should focus on excess so that
they are able to impress to interviewer.
The above mentioned recommendation helps an students to improve their content of CV
which helps them to achieve their goals and objectives. This is very important to consider as they
create higher opportunities and chances of getting a reputable job.

It can be concluded from the above discussion that an individual needs to focus on
developing skills as it not only requires to be successful in University but also very helpful in
workplaces. This report discussed five important skills which are necessary for an individual in
University as well as in workplaces that are time management. IT, analytical, communication
and goal setting skills. This report also covered recommendations that assists an individual in
order to improve their CV content. In the competitive job market, CV is very crucial which gives
