To gain skills and knowledge that can help in future in order to have a better future and career,
students approach towards having a higher education degree. The object of pursuing a higher
education degree from a University is mainly to make an identification of them in the future. The
prejudice of the society makes people think a person with a higher educational degree is more
knowledgeable than a person with no degree at that field. However, the capacity for the
development of a student depends on an efficient study plan in order to accomplish long term
and short-term goals.
Main reasons for studying a degree at university
There are limitless reasons for a student to want to study at a university to gain a degree
(Bertrand-Cloodt et al., 2016). However, only five core reasons to get into a university and
pursue a higher degree will be discussed in this report.
First, one of the primary reasons is higher education increases opportunities for landing in a job
with a good salary (Mirowsky, 2017). The main purpose of pursuing higher education is to
secure a future life with a good career that can help to earn a decent amount of money in an
ethical way. In a highly current competitive world, in order to survive an individual must earn a
decent amount. That can be secured with higher education as it increases the chances of getting a
good job.
Second, this reason is an individual can have interest over a particular subject. To gain more
knowledge about that subject; a student approaches higher education study. Not only students,
even a professional, can follow a higher education to know more about the item. The thirst of
knowledge makes people know more and gain more knowledge and understandings of his or her
field of interests. Nonetheless, the primary objective remains to have a better career in the field
of interests (Betts et al., 2017).
Third, another significant reason is to earn a handsome amount of money. This part covers a
wide range such as earning via business, working in public or private sectors, teaching, police
service etc. Like, in the UK, a higher educational degree is needed as it gives people many

opportunities to be employed in multiple companies with the advantages of conducting research
work under a particular university. On the other hands, countries of South America such as
Mexico a college degree provide a student advantage to secure a job in police mostly in
Narcotics department in order to stop the smuggling of drugs within the country.
Fourth reason includes appreciating the idea of having a higher education; students get admitted
to universities for gaining higher education. An educational degree earned in a formal way
through a university is considered precious. The society’s conservative mindset makes people
think students with formal education make the students efficient to recognize the positive and
negative features of a task before investing money into it. Though without a formal degree,
people can gain the same eligibility with practical experience but to the social knowledge of a
person with formal education is more accepted, and those persons are more appreciated.
The fifth reason is it helps to improve the professional skills of a student. A degree from a
university helps the students to become more confident, and it affects positively on the students
while presenting a bio data to relevant companies. Without a formal education, the applicant
will lack vocational expertise, and these applicants are more likely to get rejected by the
companies.

degree can be divided into four sections.
First, the knowledge and skill regarding the technique will be increased. This would be examined
with the characteristics of formal learning and academic writing. An organisation's main purpose
is earning money, and they always prefer employing candidates with technical knowledge who
can come up with innovative ideas to help the organisation to revenue more (Scott, 2015).
Second, with the help of academic skill, a student can develop time management. It is considered
that a person with formal training is able to efficiently into multiple tasks and can manage to
have a successful outcome of the projects (McLean et al., 2017). It is also considered helping to
improve the skills of managing the projects by using software like MS Excel, MS Word etc. In
