Impact of Hijab on Muslim Women in Canadian Universities: A Study

Introduction
• Veiling is practiced in the Muslim very
commonly, it represent them in society.
• There are many cases pointing the veil
as focus of discrimination, physical or
mental abuse.
• There are many practices prevailing in
Canada, where banning of religious
ornaments, specifically Hijab was
banned and this becomes a point
unequal treatment and discrimination.

Veiling Practices in the Muslim University Students
Context
• After evaluation and analysis of the
literature reviews many facts
become familiar to me about veiling
• The girls who entered were moderate
and religious
• They found that there is
discrimination in the society for
female and especially for the Muslim
in cover
• Covering is not limiting but it is a
faith to religious guidelines said one
girl
• Teachers and classmates were also
involved in this research and their
outcome also helped me to measure
outcomes
• Due to aftermath of 09/11 life of a
Muslim affected and their dressing
were point of dissuasion
• A live example I found was Malala
yusufjai who was asked to remove
Hijab to teach in University
• After many evaluation there is still
something that affect the veiling
practices
• But education and development has
made the scenario changes
• Many female are making awareness
to the world to describe their Hijab as
their strength nit their boundary
• This study was based on qualities
analysis of data collected through direct
interview.
• We needed data regarding perceptions
and beliefs of Muslim female and how
veil is related to their spirituality.
• This was a face-to-face interview
• Participants were confident and
confortable during interview
• No issue was challenging to use in our
question and communication
Method
• Participants in this research were
female students studying in the
Canadian university, their teachers,
and classmates.
• Four among Five participants were
habitual of wearing Hijab and one girl
accept it good but not mandatory
Participants
• We did not find any difficulty to
communicate with the girls, but they
were not able to give full day and we
also had only five days for our survey.
• Sudden ban on entry in the university
affected out research because we had
two days and ten girls left for the
interview.
• However, this ban affected the entire
research
• Due to ban, our data became less to
analyse and this affected our
dissuasion and analysis very deep
• Collected information from the
participants was very helpful to meet
the research question
• Literatures review and analysis
presented many hidden aspects about
veiling
