Sri Lanka is an Asian country which is famous for its beaches and
other natural attractions. This country attracts a large number of
international visitors through their exotic beaches and locations.
Hilton is the taken hotel for this assessment which is a hotel chain
having hotels at various popular places. This poster will cover the
challenges faced by the firm in effective communication along with
the strategies for overcoming these challenges. Also awareness of
cultural influences on communication and negotiation will be
discussed.
These above discussed challenges and barriers can be
eliminated by Hilton by using proper measures which are
discussed below:
Safety and Security: For this, Hilton should provide high
security to the visitors such as id check at entrance of hotel,
security guards at main gates and other major locations, CCTV
cameras etc. so that the hotel can be monitored for security
purposes when tourists are enjoying their stay
Cultural and language barriers: These can be eliminated by
the Hilton by hiring suitable employees who are having
appropriate knowledge regarding various languages and
culture as well as having suitable communication skills so that
effective communication can take place between customers
and company. There is requirement of complete understanding
about changes language through which people came to know
about it and this makes it easy to provide satisfactory
environment.
Hilton hotel is launching their new resort in Sri Lanka which
has recently suffered from a terrorist attack (Fernando,
Bandara and Smith, 2013). Due to this attack, hotel is facing
challenges in attracting the customers as well as in
influencing the customers to take their services. Some of
these issues are as follows:
Safety and Security: Due to the recent attack, visitors from
other countries are fearing regarding their safety and security
due to which effective communication is not taking place
between the customers and company. This is impacting the
firm in doing promotional activities. There is important role
of safety aspects in order to promote tourism among in Shri
Lanka.
Cultural and language barriers: The people who visit Sri
Lanka are from different culture and backgrounds due to
which company could not be able to communicate with them.
This is because employees lack communication skills as well
as are not knowledgeable regarding other languages. People
able to understand about issues which arise among people
because of language difference.
