INTRODUCTION
Management and leadership are two major aspects in an organization which always put
their great efforts in daily operations to achieve their all targets on time. There are various talent
and skills are both leaders and management has required to properly manage their each task.
Currently different productive talent management strategies are available for leaders and
manager which will support them in increasing exiting talent level. This report discusses
management and leadership aspects of Hilton hotel. Some major talent management strategies
also has been discussed in this report.
MAIN BODY
Organization structure and culture
Organisational structure refers to the way employees of company communicate with each
others and its also defines roles and responsibilities played by each individual within firm in
order to achieve company objectives. Functional, divisional and matrix are some organisational
structures that are used by firm to defines roles and responsibilities of individual. Organisational
structures used by Hotel Hilton in order to coordinate work of various departments and various
hotels situated at different location are functional and divisional (Lukoto and Chan, 2016). In
functional organization structure each department performs specific function such as beverage
and food, front office department, housekeeping to provide qualitative and standard services to
customers. As company operates across various nation it also uses divisional organisational
structure in which Hilton coordinate works on basis of geographical location of various Hotels.
Therefore , such organisational structures helps in effective coordination and cooperation among
employee to work effectively for achievement of desired goals and objectives. Definite
organisational structure of Hilton helps in reducing confusion and misunderstanding thus helps in
performing various task within limited time and cost. Hilton is large company and number of
employee's that belong to different culture and tradition, having different beliefs and values so
company doest not follow a particular culture (Oklu, 2019). Employees of Hilton are free to
communicate with their top manager and share their ideas, views opinion so that company can
gain competitive positioning in the industry. Open communicate and strong interrelationship
helps in satisfying needs and preference of employees and reduces chances of absenteeism and
employment turnover. Effectively coordinate and exchanges of ideas and views helps in brining
continuous changes and innovation at the same time enhances knowledge and skill of other

employees. Therefore, it promotes growth and survival of Hilton hotel and expansion of its
market share.
Management theories
Management theories are frameworks that helps company in planning various strategies
in order to manage people and various resource of firm in an effective manner so that objectives
are achieved. There are various theories that are used by manager of company to motivate and
influence people to work hard so that firm can increases its profitability and sales. Such as:
Contingency theory: It stated that there are three factors such as size of organization,
technology and style of leadership affect functioning of company (Sinha, and Dhall, 2018). As
environment factors keeps on changing so manager of Hilton use contingency theory in order to
meet various changes of environment. It helps manager to motivate and influence people in
advance so that they can easily meet changes and company can effectively utilise available
opportunity.
Differentiate piece rate system: Hotel hilton manager plans strategies to motivate employees by
using differentiate piece rate system that means wages are pay as per performance of employee.
Firm by using such techniques is able to motivate lazy and less effective employees to put more
effort so that guests are provided better services and experience. At the same time manager is
able to motivate those people also that are work effectively to put more extra effort by paying
extra remuneration. Therefore, Hotel Hilton by paying on basis of performance is to bring
equality and positive competition among employees to work hardly so that firm can grow and
sustain continuously in the environment.
Role of leader and style of leadership
Leaders play important role in motivating and influencing employees to increase their
performance and productivity so that firm can achieve its predetermined goals. It plays various
roles and responsibilities within Hilton such as guiding employees about their roles and
responsibilities, interrelationship with other employees. It provides clear vision and explains
goals and objectives of company so that they are motivated to work together. Leader of Hilton
also ensure that people does 'not conflict with each other on various issues so that they work as
team to perform specific activities. Another role-played by leaders is to build morale and ensure
that ethic are followed by each employee's while they are working within firm. Therefore,

Democratic Leadership: It refers to such styles where leaders of company encourages
employees to actively take part in decision-making by sharing their view, ideas and opinion.

in high turnover and absenteeism within firm.
Laissez faire Leadership: In such leadership styles leader of company delegate authority to take
various day to day decision to employee's so that task can be performed quickly and company
can gain competitive advantages. Employees are also highly motivate as leader by delegating
authorities is able to create a sense of responsibilities among existing employees to enhances
their performance and productivity. Therefore, all such leadership styles can be used by leader in
order to influences employee's within firm.
Evaluation Management and leadership styles
Both manager and leaders plays important role in improving performance and
productivity of employees by motivate them to work hard. Manager of Hilton continuous plans
and develop techniques to train and develop knowledge and skills of employees working in the
organisation (Chen, Jiao and Harrison, 2019). Hilton hotel uses Democratic leadership styles in
order to induce people to work as team and coordinate with each other for growth of firm.
Employee's of Hilton hotel are highly satisfied and happy to work with firm as it has strong
brand image and good working condition. Therefore, effective use of leadership styles helps
Hotel in enhancing its sales volume and customers satisfaction.

Key challenges and obstacles facing leaders and managers
There are a lot of challenges which the leaders and managers of Hilton have to increase
the productivity of the organization because there are a lot of employees of the company who do
not want any changes in the company and if there are any then there productivity decreases
which make the customers get a lower functioning for themselves (Lai, and Ishizaka, 2020). The
communication in the company is slow because they use word of mouth with the employees
which is reducing the productivity in the organization and the clarity in the working is also
reducing.
Internal analysis
There is an increase of travellers in the world because of the leisure and globalization
which is taking place in the world. This is going to be very beneficial for Hilton hotel because
there will be more customers coming in the hotel. There has to be an increase of productivity in
the hotel so that they can have a better functioning and smooth functioning in the market. To
have a better decisions making for the management and the leaders of the company the
organization will have to analyse the internal market so that they can have an effective
functioning for themselves. So that the hotel can provide the customers with the expectations and
leisure which they need from the hotel.
Strengths
Hilton also have strong ties which the local agents so that the customers can be updated
about the hotel and the sales of the hotel can increase.
Technology is being focused on by Hilton so that they can attract more customers and the
segmentation strategy which the organization is using is unique and the organization has
gained benefits from it (Mayo, 2018). The brand image of the company is such that the organization is having a competitive
advantage in market and the customers are loyal to the company which is making the
margins of the company increase.
Weaknesses
The organization has to make decisions with their partners to provide the customers with
good and services which is making the company weak because they are being dependent
on other factors.

which made the customers not get satisfied with the products and services of the
company. Also, because of the low network connectivity the online services to the customers are
not satisfactory which is making the company not be able to function effectively.
Opportunities
The expansion is possible for the company which can be a great opportunity for Hilton.
There are more technological advancement in the company so that this opportunity in the
company can be adopted faster and more effectively. The organization has launched their website online which can attract global tourists in the
hotel which is a great way to increase the sales of the company (Bolander, Werr and
Asplund, 2017).
Threats
Hilton has a threat of new entrants in the market which can decrease the market share of
the hotel and attract the loyal customers to other companies.
Limitations on the resources is going to be a great threat on the company for a long run in
market.
External Factors
Currently external factors of Hilton hotel are highly affecting its management styles and
structures in both way positively and negatively. There is PEST analysis tool has used to
analysing major external factors of this company. PEST mainly includes four major external
factors like political, economic, social and technological which all has been discussed below;
Political Factors: Political factors of the United Kingdom are really affecting management styles
and structures of Hilton hotel, because management of hotel is responsible to follow those all
formalities which local government has imposed on hospitality industry. For example; the hotel
management always need to take specific decision to fulfil taxation formalities.
Economic Factors: The UK is one of the richest countries in the world, so economic factors of
this country are positively supporting to this hotel. Reason is, local people can easily affords
services which hotel is providing in the current time, in which the existing management should
prepare a such marketing plan which will highly attracts lots of customers towards brand.

Social Factors: Social factors are also very favourable for the company, because most people are
completely literate in this country (Salazar, 2018). They always ready to pay any cost for buying
quality products and services, so these factors affect to management styles and structures to
develop quality services for all customers.
Technological Factors: The management of hotel can easily develop their organizational
structure through these factors. Reason is, currently those all technological gadgets, tools and
machinates are available in the UK's market which will help to hotel for developing their
organizational structure.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that organizational culture and structure plays
an important role in growth and sustainability of firm in the industry by informing employees
about their roles and responsibilities and their interrelationship within Hilton hotel. Currently
top-level management of hotel is able to take huge advantages from its external factors. The
hotel need to implement such modern business strategies in their daily operations to gain huge
competitive advantage in the UK's hospitality industry.
