This poster discussed about various historical developments that
has happed in travel and tourism sector. It involves different
business like hotels, transportation, etc. Many industries have either
direct or indirect relation with this sector.

In present time, travelling has become foremost need of every individual. As people travel in their life
due to their own pleasure and for some business purpose. So, it can be said that it has become most
important part of personal and professional life. In past years, people face various problems regarding
travelling because there was no facilities of travel and tourism, but with technical advancement lots of
buses, metros and trains have developed to fulfil travelling needs of general public. There are many
changes which have took place in this industry, at present it involves various food, transportation and
accommodation services. There are lots of historical developments of travel and tourism sector which
are discussed below:
A person named Billy Bulting introduced Holiday camp in 1936. After that in 1938, government
introduced Holiday with Pay act. Later in 1945, people of agriculture communities started moving
from one place to another. But in those days T&T industry was not that much popular. In its starting
years, it faced various problems due to transport and less operator facilities.
But between 1945 to 1980, this industry has started developing, and that time many people started
construction of hotel buildings. This step has helped UK in its national growth and still travel and
tourism industry is providing lots of benefits to this country. In 1981, various airline organisations
were taking initiatives to grow this industry, which results in 1990 as approximately 18 percent
increment in GDP of UK. In present time, companies like TUI Group, Thomas Cook etc. are
providing high level of tourism services to lots of visitors, business men and general public.
In 1970, most of people used to visit long distance destinations to get themselves entertained. They
made grand trips to explore new experience and knowledge by visiting in new cities and places. Most
of people used horses to cover their long-distance destination. There are various businessmen, who
wants to become rich. For that they started expanding their business at international level so that, they
can generate higher level of financial profit. For Global trade they need to travel in different countries.

development in travel and tourism sector. These improvements have brought
high level of success in this industry. Apart from this, there are also some

trains, buses, flights and so on which has made travelling easy for people.
