History and Origin of Islam
Islam is regarded as the second largest religion after the Christianity which makes it the
youngest of the world. This was started during the time of Mecca in the Modern-day Saudi
Arabia which was during time of prophet Muhammad’s life (Shapiro, 2015). The word Islam
refers to the submission to the will of God. We are regarded as Muslims under Islam. We are
monotheistic and worship only one God who is Arabic and is regarded as Allah. Western
Civilization has the major role in the Islamic culture. Our point of origin is very close to Arabian
Peninsula which is close to that of Judaism and Christianity. Being the intrinsic part of the
Western Civilization, the Islamic kingdoms and the empires which can be linked with the greater
Mediterranean region as they were part of trade and scholarship (Christopher Brooks, 2019).
Islam is regarded as conduit for the Western Civilization which has a major effect on the
customs and traditions of the Islamic culture which is influenced by Arabs. Our culture is
influenced by the Western Civilization in which the origin of Islam can be seen. Moreover, the
civilization that someone call western are particularly reshaped by the political and intellectual
influences. The Islam was originated from the Arab culture to be influenced by the Arab customs
(Bassiouni, 2012). Islamic civilization is based on the value of education and also prophet who
created the mosques as part of the outside courtyard. Quraan determines our religious value.
However, Quraan is the holy book of Islamic people in which the words of Muhammad are
written. This contains the sacred word of God and also collection of previous writings.
