1MODERN WORLD AND THE DEVELOPMENTS
The history of human development if tried to trace back starts from the discovery of
wheel and the demarcation of civilization came into existence. The growth and development of
the human civilization since they were subjected to be diminished by no other human means and
from time to time being subjected to natural calamities were the only hurdle we, as a human race
had to grow out. Until, the time the industrial revolution broke the cycle, which changed the way
one can think and talk about development as well as destruction. The modern world and the
different entities of modernization can only be assessed as a product of the past and the effort of
the present combined. The end of the Cold Wars and the First World War can be seen as the
phase which was the wake of the period where the meaning of the word development was
changed to exist co-laterally with the word technology. The different aspects, including
globalization, technological advancement changed the way the world evolved.
The process of technological advancement saw the growth due to the governmental and
institutional push which was seen after World War II, which was felt necessary after the human
civilization globally understood the destructive power which was associated with the power gain.
The government involvement in the study and the development was due to the rise of the concern
regarding the accumulation of weaponry that rose with the use of hydrogen and poison gas
during the war (Cherp et al. 2017). The institutional awareness for the technology was realized
with the communication which was associated with communication that was a pivotal part of
globalization. The invention of computer communication and later mobile phones brought the
world closer. The technological surge was no doubt seen to be originating from the United States
and other European countries, but soon, at the start of the twenty-first century, the global south
started rising.

2MODERN WORLD AND THE DEVELOPMENTS
The technological advancement saw another dawn with the discovery of Fossil Fuels and
the generation of electricity. The laying of the electricity grids changed the way the world
looked, lighting and waking the world at night (Petralia, Pierre-Alexandre and Andrea 2017).
The education and the employment sector showed a massive change in the working hour which
was utilized by the southern countries and was seen as one of the reasons behind Japan’s rise as
the technology giant reaching up to the US. The modern development in terms of weaponry such
as supertankers and ballistic missiles can be traced back to the growth advancements which were
made during the early twentieth century. The most important development when it comes to
technology was the democratization which was brought about in the automobile sector. This was
possible with the discovery of gasoline and its use in transportation, mainly cars. Before this,
cars and its possession was simply division of the different economic sector that is the rich and
the poor (Stearns 2016) after the first car company to manufacture cars for the middle sector of
the economic world, the professionals who were on the rise due to the employment surge related
to the globalization around the globe.
The globalization or as the critics call it bridging the gap between the world and merging
as one happy place (Stearns 2016). Globalization, when seen as a phenomenon, cannot be
defined under a single spectrum, after the end of the Second World War and the establishment of
organizations such as the UNO and the fact that a hundred and forty-nine countries volunteered
to be a part of it showed the solidarity towards achieving unity as a civilization seeking to
become one. The MNCs and the TNCs which are now considered as the way to counter the
employment problem started after the war when European countries started setting up
manufacturing industries in the developing countries such as that of Indonesia, China and India
where they found the cost of labor and raw materials drastically lower than their native countries.

3MODERN WORLD AND THE DEVELOPMENTS
This showed a great change in the economic condition of the developing countries and the rise of
these countries thriving on them because they were struggling financially (Williams 2016).
However, with the employment on the rise, the quality of life and its implications were
questioned under different spectrums. The human right activists saw this as a violation of the
rights of the people of these countries and resulted in one of the main development of modern
society. The realization of human rights as a universal concept led to the rise of feminism as the
concept in the early 1900s in the United States and the European countries.
Feminism as a concept started after the war ended, and the female was forced and
restricted to vacant the jobs meant for the men when they returned home. The women, on the
other hand, for the first time, realized that they were being utilized and the term patriarchy was
heard on the growing communication mediums of newspapers and magazines alike. But much
before the western world, feminism had risen its head in the Middle East under the western
influence culture in the wake of different types of marriages (Shelby 2019). This also can be
traced back to the rise of communist regimes showing itself globally.
The revolution of women liberation that we witness today and the revolution for the
recognition for the choice of sexual preference started long back in the middle of the twentieth
century when the Soviet Union declared equal rights for the men and women when it comes to
marriage and divorce, though this was considered to be a new concept, the fight could be traced
back to the Church’s aristocratic rule where they determined the matter of marriage and divorce
and was considered to a stringent patriarch government. As stated in the chapter, “What the state
granted to women, the state could also take away,” a concept too readily experienced by women
with the change in the government (Orloff and Talia 2016).

4MODERN WORLD AND THE DEVELOPMENTS
The modern developments are often measured in different scales where the critics of
every period fought against what they thought was non-conformity with the normal, with what
has always been. The other has been the optimists who fail to see the negative even if it is
present there vividly. The first category has been present in every decade, whether it is
technology and communication growth or the realization of sexuality or the change in the
political adherence of the people. It can be noted that the development has been a back and forth
process due to the barrier of acceptance. The technological development in terms of machines to
be utilized by farmers which also lowered the labor to be used in the field was met with a
revolution globally, even in India where the farmers set off the cotton plants which were grown
from the technologically advanced and modified seeds. Feminism was seen to occur in waves
where the first waves started with the recognition of women as equal when it comes to voting
and property rights but the second rights was more of an issue of equality (Orloff and Talia
2016). The equality to make decisions to live their as they see fit, equal pay, stay married in a
heterosexual marriage or live with another heterosexual partner or homosexual. This was known
as the suffrage movement from where rose the African American Feminism or Black Feminism,
whose claim was that the feminism was the female medium of patriarchy as it did not raise issues
concerning the blacks. It was from here the feminism became a global issue and through
feminism the African women raised the issue concerned with racism along with patriarchy.
The developments and growth that we witness around the globe cannot be deemed as an
overnight change but can be seen as a chain reaction to the industrial revolution which started the
technological advancement like none other. The mobile phones and the satellite connections
which makes the communication around the globe one of the easiest process also opened the gate
