INTRODUCTION
Nursing can be defined as a kind of concept of offering services to patients of all ages.
Nursing helps in enhancing overall health of individual (Karlouand et. al., 2018). Nursing and
medicine are inter-related to each other. Nursing focus upon health of an individual whereas
medicine focuses upon curing patients. This assessment will focus upon Greece concept of
nursing and medicine and will focus upon subject of concept of nursing and medicine in Greece.
MAIN BODY
Greece concept of nursing focuses upon having a healthy mind in a healthy body whereas
view of medicine focuses upon incorporating and maintaining both physical and mental
wellbeing of an individual. Nursing focuses upon enhancing overall wellbeing of an individual
from any kind of infection, clinical decision making, safety, oxygenation, tissue integrity, coping
any stress, anxiety and many more (Papadopoulos and et. al., 2016). Previously medicine was
not a proper definable subject but with time when field of health and specialization in this field
increased discipline of medicine was established. Greece concept of medicine focuses upon ways
in which medicine is used for enhancing overall physical and mental wellbeing of an individual.
In order to provide proper and effective medicines it is important to diagnose disease or health
issue from which an individual is suffering. Greek doctors carry out both clinical observation and
physical examination so that disease of health issue can be identified and medicines required to
be given can be provided in order to increase effectivity of treatment. In ancient times Greece
household women used to work for providing excellent nursing. In ancient it was a tradition in
human culture where household women used to provide excellent nursing care to individual.
Today concept of nursing in modern time period of Greece has changed to serve the poor
and sick in order to enhance overall status of nursing profession. Nurses are being provided with
proper nursing training programs in order to enhance their skills and knowledge for provision of
appropriate training to nurses (Oberhelman, ed., 2016). In Greece essence of care is
underdetermined due to poor nursing services and lower availability of medicines. Providing
appropriate training to nurses as per advance training programs can help in providing excellent
care to individual who require proper care for proper physical and mental health.
Concept and practise of nursing is different in different countries. In Greece nursing is
science of providing care to patients at the aim of providing treatment and rehabilitation to
individuals who require care and to their families as well. With the help of nursing psychological

support, prevention from diseases or health issue and promotion of health in order to protect
individuals is done.
At ancient time of Greece, medicine concept considered that first cause of illness was
nature cause (Oberhelman, ed., 2016). At ancient time Greek thought, illness was a religious
punishment because of which natural ways were searched for identification of medicines to cure
heath issue or illness. Concept of medicine in Greece is completely different from other as it
revolves around theory of humours. It says that perfect healthy comes from combination of
blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile. But today in modern times, concept of medicine has
changed and relies on usage of advance medicines, advance high tech technology and providing
appropriate care to individuals. It says that in order to enhance physical and mental health of an
individual it is important to combine nursing and medicine together. Combination of nursing and
medicine helps in increasing overall achievement of health outcomes. It not only helps in
enhancing overall health and wellbeing of an individual but also helps in bringing improvement
in overall human behaviour. Medicines helps in curing main issue due to which health of an
individual is degraded and nursing helps in provision of excellent care and healthy environment
so that overall health and behaviour of individual is cured.
This subject focuses upon concept of nursing and medicine in ancient times, important of
nursing and medicines and ways in which combination of medicine and nursing can enhance
overall health and wellbeing of an individual.
CONCLUSION
From the above assessment it has been identified that concept of nursing and medicine in
ancient times in Greece was much different from concept of nursing and medicine today. This
subject clearly explains important of nursing as well as of medicine in cure of an individual and
ways in which it can enhance overall health and wellbeing of an individual both physically and
mentally.
