INTRODUCTION
Historical war is the state of armed conflicts between states, governments and societies
and it is generally characterized by the extreme violence, aggression and destruction using some
regular as well as irregular military forces. In the same way, the chosen topic for this report is
“Should historical wars be remembered?” in which report describe the significance of a war as a
driver of historical change and the function of historical wars in national or international public
memory with the support of remembrance commemorations, war memorials etc.
MAIN BODY
Yes, historical wards should be remember because it is a moral concern of all the
citizenship and even historical commemorations are to pay a debt of gratitude to those people
who have died fighting to protect the lives of others. World wars affected the people all over the
world and it also changes the history as well. For instance, world war I came to be known as the
war to end all wars as, there was no conflict before the world war which had destruction on this
scale before. As a result, millions of people including soldiers and ordinary citizens were lost
their lives and many of them badly impacted as well (Obinger and Schmitt, 2018, 496-517).
During the world war first, one of the most significant impact which wad huge advance in
technology and it would also transform the way that people all around the world traveled and
communicated especially in the years after a conflict. Further, new technologies and weapons are
also developed and used that led to more destruction as compared to any other war.
Moreover, during a war, special technology name as sound ranging which helps soldiers
to pinpoint where the enemy was from the sound of their gunfire and this is consider one of the
most important part. Apart from this, another change in the history is related to medical
innovation. Such that there were no professionals for wounds inflicted on soldiers and even no
facility is provided to treat the blood loss (Sempa, 2017). Therefore, from the world wars, doctor
also realized that blood needed to be stockpiled and that is why, they set up the first blood tank
on the Western Front in 1917 in which they use sodium citrate in order to stop the blood from
clotting and also becoming unusable. Another change in the history with regards to medical
innovation is a special rod which was used on soldiers who had broken their legs was also
developed. Hence, this clearly reflect that wars are consider as a driver of historical change.
In addition to this, another positive change after the world wars was such that future
conflicts could also be settled through diplomacy and even many international organization also

devoted to global peace as well. Therefore, the league of nation formed with the intent of
preventing wars, but on the other side, many consider it to be a failure as it did not prevent the
second world war because it is severely weakened by the major countries. Moreover, another
change is greater acceptance of women because the role of women is also inspiring such that the
war also provide an opportunity for women to take an previously men only jobs and in turns, the
war also proved an important factor and they also give a vote in 1919 and also helps to change
the social attitude of people especially towards women forever. Therefore, it clearly shows that
wars should be remembered because it changes thinking of many people and also force people to
think that soldiers sacrifice their lives to protect the country and that is why, every country have
their own world war memorials in the memory of wars (George and Das, 2017, 2167-0269).
Moreover, in London, around 850000 ceramic poppies were also installed in the stunning display
at tower of London in order to represent the Commonwealth soldiers who actually died in that
conflicts. Thus, this shows the gratuity to them and reflect people still care for the soldiers who
fought in the wars and scarifies their lives in world wars as well.
Moreover, this world war are consider so important such that for the memory of these
wars, people started celebrating the days. For example, Armistice Day is on 11 November and it
is also known as Remembrance Day and it is celebrated in the memory of ended of World War
One and now a days, people also remember those who were lost in the war by holding a two
minute silence, also wearing a red poppy as well. Further, these world wars are also remembered
in public memory and that is why, different war memorials were constructed (Moses, 2017).
Such that the Australian war Memorial is the Australia's national memorial to the members of
armed forces and also supporting the organization who were died or participated in wars. In
Australia this was opened in 1941, and also regarded as one of the most important memorials for
the world. In similar way, there is a Remembrance Nature Park which was located behind War
Memorial and it is recognized for the Indigenous Australians who were fought for their country
as well.
On the other side, in Australia, Anzac day is also celebrated as a national day for the
remembrance in Australia and New Zealand who broadly commemorates all the Australians and
New Zealanders who actually died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, in which all
people remember the contribution of the people who were died (Cohen, Gurun and Malloy,

2017, 207-248). Moreover, these all reflected that in every country, people remember all
historical wars in order to keep patronage among citizens towards the soldiers.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above, it has been concluded that all the citizen should remember
historical wars and they do so in the form of remembrance commemorations and war memorial
in which they give remember all the soldiers who died. Further, report also concluded that there
were many changes from the historical wars till now such that medical innovation, technological
change that provide new direction to the world as well.
