This document presents a student's response to a workplace-simulated activity assessment for the HLTINF001 unit, focusing on complying with infection prevention and control policies and procedures, and following safe work practices for direct client care. The assignment consists of four case studies, each presenting realistic scenarios in healthcare settings. The student addresses questions on topics including modes of transmission (specifically droplet transmission), appropriate responses to unwell colleagues, immunity, and respiratory etiquette. Further questions explore wound infection, dressing techniques, hand hygiene protocols (including the five moments of hand hygiene), and the use of alcohol-based hand rubs. The assignment also covers personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, procedures for managing outbreaks (like norovirus), and reporting obligations. The student demonstrates understanding of infection control principles and the application of these principles in various healthcare contexts.
