Holiday Staffing Schedule
Nurse Manager has multiple roles and responsibilities in the health care centre to
ensure better patient health as well as staff performance. Communication is an effective way
of sharing ideas, views, and perspectives and to provide information. Communication is more
effective in making policies at the workplace for better management services. I’m a manager
nurse need to communicate holiday staff scheduling policies. The certain managerial skills
are vital for staffing schedule change process in the department.
Critique two Approaches to communicate a change process
The transmission model is well known for sending information from one to another
for communicating a change process (Sapienza, Veenstra, Kirtiklis, & Giannino, 2016). By
setting goals for department align with the organizational goals might be helpful in holiday
staffing schedule. The top priorities of holidays and conditions of the feeling will be
considered while scheduling the holiday staffing schedule.
Ritual communication model emphasizes on maintaining the relationship with each
other. Ritual communication model assists in scheduling the top priority holidays based on
rituals. Both these models of communication could be linked up with the approaches to
communicating in a staffing schedule change (Alghamdi, 2016). The manager nurse, along
with the staff, exchanges ideas to formulate policies on how holiday staffing can be
scheduled to profit the organization.
Defend two Approaches to communicate a change process
Communication as a tool. In this approach, it is supposed that the problems will
vanish when and if proper information is provided to the members of the organization, in this
way they will be able to understand the change, and their roles and responsibilities.
Communication as a socially constructed process. In this approach, the change
process occurs in a scenario which involves human interactions and communication, which

develop or redevelop people’s social reality. Communication is the channel in which changes
takes place. The change process of an organization is mostly random, uncertain, and
dependent on the situation that is the consequence of the sense-making the process and
people’s comprehension.
The staff will be given proper information regarding the needs of the patients, and
priorities of the department along with the complication of the situation before scheduling
holidays.
Conflict management
Those styles that are used to resolve a conflict is termed as conflict management style.
An unassertive and non-cooperative style, in which the conflict is demolished either by
jumping to another topic or by ignoring it, is termed as avoidance conflict management style.
Another conflict management style is distributive management style, in which there is the
win or loses situations. It includes direct communication about the issue, try to take control
over other, and constant arguments to keep one’s place. Integrative conflict management style
is the one in which both groups use cooperative communication to solve an argument and
tend to reach a point where both groups agree with each other.
This style seeks to bring out a suitable solution for all concerned groups. It is
considered as the best conflict management style even if it ends up with a less ideal
resolution. Communication includes reading non-verbal cues, listening, managing stress, and
being emotionally aware of others. Different communication techniques are also executed.
The most powerful technique among them to communicate with angry employees is face to
face communication. It provides two ways of communication, which is the best way to
understand each other’s ideas and to convey empathy. It makes one able to get important
feedback (Beatty, 2015).

If the staff have any conflict in, to deal with an employee complaining about the
situation, integrative conflict style and leadership skill, setting goals and demonstrating
respect to the other individuality will be intact. Demonstration respect for opposite group
concerning their need, and uniqueness help to understand each other’s view. It will be helpful
to look over the situation from each other’s vision. It provides a chance to understand each
other’s perspective. It will help the staff to accept the situation for the betterment of the help
department and patient wellbeing.
Evaluating the efficacy of Approaches
The GRADE system can be used to assess the effectiveness of the communication
approach. It is an absolute and widely used system for developing and evaluating
communication strategies. Moreover, DECIDE is a system developed to develop and evaluate
the effectiveness of communication (Paulsen, 2018). Furthermore, feedback checklist, staff
survey, suggestion box, and focus group discussion will be carried out to evaluate the
effectiveness of the communication approach.
Conclusion
The holiday staffing schedule is one of the conflicting issues among nurses. Following the
above communication approach, the issue will be resolved. Furthermore, more appropriate
and refine staffing and scheduling will be the plan for dynamic and quality outcome
concerning the advancement and need of the time.
