B) Theoretical Background and research focus
Review key publications and themes
Organizational structure in a firm provides guidance to its employees through
arranging the official reporting relationship, which govern positive and systematic flow of
work. A formal outline of particular structure of a firm makes it easier for mangers to add
more new positions in workplace (Tayan, 2019). This would provide the flexible as well
as ready means to achieve successful growth. Therefore, without a formal company’s
organizational structure, it may arise difficulty for employees to whom they need to
officially report of their works, especially in particular situations.
In context with holistic industries, where all forms of treatment including allopathic,
herbal, Ayurveda medicines are provided, for whole well-being of people. London Clinic
is one of such organisation that has number of departments that provide holistic
therapies to its patients. It has more than 700 staffs therefore, in lack of proper
management structure, it may become unclear for staff members to understand their
roles and way to perform it. This would directly affect on performance of them to serve
its clients. In this regard, it becomes essential for this firm to implement effective
organizational structure which helps in improving efficiency of entire work. It further
support managers to provide clarity about roles and responsibilities to each worker, at
all levels (Oliveira and et. al., 2019). Through paying attention to development of
organizational structure, managements can work transfer information to each
department on time systematically which further lead to improve and increase
productivity of business also, through which high growth can be achieved. A thoroughly
type of outlined structure also provide managers a roadmap for its internal promotions,
that allows them to create better employee appraisal plans to get their retention for
longer period of time (Edinger-Schons and et. al., 2019). With regards to holistic
industry, the organisational structure which is applicable for managing entire operations
and serving the best services includes loose and fluid structure, where changes in
functions and responsibilities of one department do not affect others. Therefore, before

they can understand importance of learning the management concept, which is
essential for a learner, to professionally develop their skills and abilities. As holistic
industry is different from other sectors, because it includes both human efforts and
technology for well-being state of people. Therefore, I have chosen this field to make

concepts will not evaluate through number of research methods such as primary and
secondary resources, then it will impact directly on result in negative manner. Therefore,
these key finding points, will help in addressing the mentioned questions of research, as
well as in obtaining desired outcomes also. Through this research, in what manner,
holistic industry is different than other sectors like Ayurvedic industry, will be evaluated.
Along with this, importance of holistic treatment for people, which cannot be achieved
through normal medicine will be analysed. In this regard, as a therapist, I can determine
if general problems like headache goes with reflexology or massage or counselling

of management structure are there that can be adopt by London clinic in order to carry
out all its operations and to offer better care therapies to its patients for increasing their
quality of life (Murnieks, Klotz and Shepherd, 2020). Various organisation structure can
be understood by following points:
Flat organisational structure: In this organisation structure, there are only few
layers of management in which front line workers remain responsible to take decision.
Under this, information flows from top to down and from bottom to up (de Araújo Lima,
Crema and Verbano, 2020). First manager communicates with employees and then
back from workers to top management. Using this organisation structure, management
of London Clinic can involve its medical professionals and other staff members more
easily, in making effective decisions to enhance its services. But it may create more
burden in terms of workload on employees that may impact on its performance as well,
so flat organisational seems not to be fit for holistic industries.
Tall organisational structure: This is another type of management structure in
which managers take all operational decisions and everyone require to get authority
from top management before take any action or decision, where, information flows from
top to down (Tayan, 2019). So, this may take time for professionals to give treatment to
patients on time, which arise risk on their health and well-being state. Therefore, it is
also not proved effective for London Clinic to meet its organisational goals.
Functional organisation structure: This is structure under which every portion of
enterprise is grouped as per its purpose. In these type of organisation structure various
type of department is found such as production department, marketing department,
finance department and many more (Oliveira and et. al., 2019). In context with holistic
therapy industry, which is different from retail and other industries, its department highly
depends on information regarding with treatment provide to patients, therefore,
functional organisational structure will fit 75% of its requirement.
Divisional organisation structure: This type of structure is mainly adopting by
organisations that operate at large level that offer variety of products and services to its
customers and work in various divisions (Edinger-Schons and et. al., 2019). One of the
major benefit of this type of organisation structure is that every division can work
independently but using type of structure may impact on such treatment procedure,
out all its operations and to offer better care therapies to its patients for increasing their
quality of life (Murnieks, Klotz and Shepherd, 2020). Various organisation structure can

when an individual requires various therapies for overall well-being state. For example –
a patient suffering from migraine, need both orthodox and alternative medicinal
treatment, for proper well-being. Therefore, for this purpose, various departments of
therapy industry like London Clinic needs to work in collaboration with each other, for
giving treatment to same patient.
Fluid organisational structure: This structure promotes adaptiveness in
companies, by where teams are formed on the basis of project requirement instead of
job description. So, in holistic industry, where provide each type of therapy, needs
highly expert, therefore, such type of organisational structure seems to be fit with the
same.
All these are the major type of management structures that can be adopt by
organisation to carry out their activities in timely manner and in an appropriate manner.
With adoption of right type of organisation structure, London clinic can ensure proper
communication among all the workers through which it employees can perform their job
roles in an effective manner (Cameron and Green, 2019). Further, with proper
organisation structure, company can ensure optimum utilisation all its available
business resources and can offer better care services to its customers.

As a therapist, my main focus under present is given holistic therapy where to
serve best medical services, it is foremost duty to determine which type of therapy
would help a patient in overcoming from health issue. As comparison with other
industry, like manufacturing and retail industries, their organisational structure mainly
focuses on transfer information within each department, with purpose to develop best
products that achieve client satisfaction more easily. Along with this, their targeted
audience also demand same type of products or services, therefore, such industries
focusing on meeting the same, by adopting best technology, provides training to
employees to give best performance and more. On contrast, within holistic therapy
industry, each and every person has different health issue, where to treat them,
therapists concern on overall medical history of them and which therapy would help in
recovery of their health within less period of time. Therefore, due to specific needs of

have been analysed importance of each and every type of management structure, with
their benefits and drawbacks, but which one fit the best with London Clinic arises a
number of problems. Because it needs proper feedback of associated people, before to
apply, as any changes in structure will highly impact on working process of them. For
this purpose, I have further conducted primary investigation to address this research
gap.
D) Methodology
Research Methodology
It is one of the most important part of a research that entail which sources can be
used to gather key findings, so that higher outcomes can be obtained (Bagdadli and
Gianecchini, 2019). It includes approaches, techniques, targeted populations, way of
gathering and analysing data etc. In this regard, it is essential to choose the research
design which provides framework and entire methods taken for conducting the study. It
also explains research types such as experimental, correlational, survey, semi-
experimental and more, to address main problems. Three main types of design usually
taken in any dissertation viz. data collection, data measurement and analysis of same,
in the form of descriptive, experimental, correlational and diagnostic. Under present
research, experimental research design is chosen, to establish the relationship between
cause of a situation with its impact. This design helps in monitoring the influence of
independent variable on dependent one, through manipulating the perception of
respondents.
Research approach helps mainly in organising plan as well as setting procedures
for conducting an investigation. It consists the broad assumptions that helps in
management structure is required to be implement. However, from literature review, I
have been analysed importance of each and every type of management structure, with
their benefits and drawbacks, but which one fit the best with London Clinic arises a
number of problems.
It consists the broad assumptions that helps in

gathering in-sight detailed information, relevant to chosen topic. In this regard, to
conduct present dissertation, both qualitative and quantitative approaches will be
implemented (Cameron and Green, 2019) . Using qualitative approach, secondary data
will be collected through summarising the peer reviewed articles and journals. While
quantitative approach helps in gathering information numerical information, through
primary sources.
For conducting primary research, investigator will use questionnaire method,
where targeted population will include entire stakeholders of London Clinic firm. But as it
may create difficulties to conduct investigation on such a large population, therefore, 50
respondents will be chosen as sample size, by giving equal and independent chance to
each for being selected in research (Datta, Sahaym and Brooks, 2019). The main
advantage of using this method is that it helps in understanding perception of each
respondent behind importance of fundamental structure, at both individual and
organisational level. But complex may arise to represent each perception effectively,
therefore, under present report, in primary data will be represented in graphical form
that helps in interpreting information more accurately (Edinger-Schons and et. al.,
2019). Furthermore, secondary data will be collected by taking thematic analysis
technique which would help in writing thesis on each specific objective, through books,
articles, company’s report and more. After gathering information from both sources,
data will be critically reviewed under discussion part through various researchers’ point
of view (Oliveira and et. al., 2019). This would help in drawing conclusion and making
recommendation for chosen company to adopt such organisational structure, which
helps in managing such a large workplace more easily. Suggestions will also be given
to this firm about strategies through it can achieve established mission.
Research Philosophy is another crucial part of a report, which entails that how
phenomenon of dissertation will be gathered, as well as way of analysing it, to obtain
the given result (Tayan, 2019). This part provides two main techniques that are
Interpretivism and positivism, for performing each task and activity of research, in a
systematic manner. Through positivism philosophy of research, an objective viewpoint
can be used for observing reality, therefore, any type of manipulation is not allowed
under this approach (de Araújo Lima, Crema and Verbano, 2020). Other than this,
conduct present dissertation, both qualitative and quantitative approaches will be
implemented (Cameron and Green, 2019) . Using qualitative approach, secondary data
will be collected through summarising the peer reviewed articles and journals. While

interpretivists approach provides subjective viewpoint to interpret the gathered
information, where researchers are allowed to manipulate the same for obtaining
outcomes, in desired way. In this regard, reference to present report, as researcher are
going to apply both qualitative and quantitative research approaches, therefore, third
main technique i.e. pragmatism will be used.
Ethical consideration
Ethical consideration is another most important of a research, which forces
investigators to conduct each and every activity in systematic and ethical manner, so
that quality of result can be maintained (Murnieks, Klotz and Shepherd, 2020). Under
present report, investigators will pay more attention on maintaining ethics in research,
by collecting data from authenticate and reliable sources only. Along with this, while
conducting primary research, consent form will be taken from respondents, to ensure
them their privacy will be kept by unclosing any detail of them during research and after
publication of the same as well. Therefore, applying ethics in present research will aid
researchers in maintaining efficiency of outcomes, with achievement of objectives in set
period of time.
Limitation of research
Taking survey on London Clinic company’s stakeholders only, arise limitation of
the research, because applying result of this on entire sector create inefficiency on
desired result. Along with this, limited time and resources will also create issues in
conducting each and every activity in desired manner. These limitations have greatest
potential to effect quality of findings, as well as on ability to address research problems.
Time Scale
In order to obtain higher outcomes of present research within set period of time, it
is essential to divide major activities into smaller one then frame the same, in fix
duration (Armstrong and Taylor, 2020). For this purpose, two main techniques can be
used that are Work Breakdown Structure and Gantt Chart. In context with present
research, investigation will be done in following manner –

Data collection:
The primary data is collected by using questionnaire in which some set of questions
are included which are related to the topic. These questionnaires are distributed to the
respondents through email. The respondents are selected through using probability
sampling method as in this, the chances of selection of each individual is equal and this
help researcher in removing biasness at the time of selecting sample size. 50
respondents are selected for filling these questionnaires and these participants are the
stakeholders of London clinic. The questionnaire in relation to this investigation is

employees have some authority to take the decision. On the others side functional

functions it involves. These help in bringing the efficiency in work by separating the work
as per their requirement.
