ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIORS
Week 6: Motivation
In order to achieve any goals, related to an organization or any business in terms of success,
motivation plays an essential ingredient in it. Hence, motivation can lift the rate of success in
a significant manner. As per McClumpha (2019), nowadays, the authorities of the airport are
engaging themselves in the promotion of the security officers as the ambassador of the airport
to offer them a secure and enjoyable experience. Every item that people bring has to be
checked by security before travelling as per the demands of travelling threats. The security
screening staffs do so by using a screening X-ray machine. In order to prevent any
considerable risks that may occur in future, the security in the aviation authority must engage
themselves in a higher level of concentration.
As opined by Abeyratne (2018), the objective of motivation is significantly related to their
works as the impact of poor motivation can dramatically reduce their functionality in terms of
their performance. On the other hand, the production, behaviours and their attitudes related to
their working domains can be significantly improved through a positive, motivated workforce
beneficially, as the cost efficiency and the effectiveness of security is supported and provided
by itself. The performance of the security assessment workers can be appreciated by giving
appropriate rewards to motivate them rather than only paying them. The authority must
engage themselves in listening to any compliance from the security they may have. A better
environment related to the work must be provided to the security assessment of the airport.
Since, a crucial work is provided by them, without which the aviation may face a
considerable amount of danger.

Week 7: Group Behaviour and the Team at Work
A psychologist named Bruce Truckman developed five stages of team development in 1965.
The various stages include forming stage, storming stage, norming stage, performing an
action and adjourning stage.
1. Forming Step
The forming stage is the first stage of team development in which the formation or
orientation of the team occurs. The forming step is essential in team development as it helps
the team members to understand and recognize the role and responsibility of the group.
Various discussions about the member's background, skills, interests, their timelines are
conducted among the members in this stage (Fiore and Georganta, 2017).
2. Storming stage
In the storming stage, the members face disagreements or conflicts with the other members
since the weight and reality of the completion of the task creates a possible indication
regarding that. The members might be involved in a disagreement or argue about others point
of view. The leader must remind the members that these disagreements are reasonable.
3. Norming stage
In this third stage of team development, the members start to appreciate and notice the
strengths of other members. This stage comes after the storming stage, that is opposite to this
stage in which the members starts working as a team without focusing on individual goals.
4. Performing stage
In the performing stage, the team members stay confident, familiar and motivated towards the
project work as they start to co-operate without any supervision.
5. Adjourning stage
The adjourning stage is an emotional stage that is experienced by the team members. This
stage occurs after the completion of the project work. Sometimes, this stage is referred to as
the mourning stage, as the members feel loss since they are going apart (Campbellsville,
2019).

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIORS
Week 8: Leadership
1. Difference between trait and behavior theories of leadership?
The difference between the trait and behavioral theories of leadership is that trait theory
believes that the characteristics of leadership are an inborn instinct. According to this theory,
some people have this quality from their very beginning. Instead, the behavioral theory
denies this fact and dictates that the leaders can be made by proper training. Whether they
have any exceptional, inborn talent or not. As per Meuser et al. (2016), behavioral theory
dictates that it just takes some time to be a leader by proper training. Apart from that, the trait
theory specifies that leaders have the essential qualities from their inborn instinct, to stand as
a leader. According to Lord et al. (2017), on trait theory, leaders are characterized concerning
their driven and charismatic behaviors that they possess.
2. Selection and Development of Effective Leader
The productivity of an organization, in terms of success, can be increased in a significant way
if the organization possesses a competent leader who can determine the direction of the
organization. Thus, an organization needs to train an individual who can maintain the
qualities of leadership in future (Komives and Wagner, 2017). The process of training is
given below.
Communication
Good skill in communication can be considered to be an essential quality that a leader must-
have. Since a strong ability in communication enables the leaders to give instructions to
everyone as well as it also helps them to listen to everybody's statement. For example, Steve
Jobs, the founder of the most popular organization, Apple, had this quality. That's why he
was a renowned leader in that company.
Adaptability
The ability of adaptation also signifies the critical qualities of a leader. By flexibility, a leader
can also encourage the other members to lead the team as well. Steve Jobs had too faced
many challenges that can bring the company down.
Week 9: Power & Politics

can help the university in many ways. Several powers will be available to a leader of the

Acquiring the leadership of a student, a student must have some of the skills to be called as a
leader (Room, 2019). Communication is one of those skills, which helps to gain the influence
of power by communicating with others. The good communication skill of a student leader
also helps the educational supervisor to have a better understanding of the student's
requirements in the universities. A leader has to be patient and must have problem-solving
skills (Kouzes and Posner, 2018).
Several sources may not be available to the student leader. Some of the critics have stated
that student leadership is not a power; it is a responsibility for the betterment of the student
and the university. Several limitations are applicable for the university student leaders. The

Week 10: Conflict & Negotiations
Question 1.
There must be some problems can be addressed while working a group project. I must ensure
the people to stay and feel safe, creating an environment where the issues can be discussed
mutually. To keep a group of people strong dynamically, I would make sure that people can
discuss various issues in the environment. Goals are very important to achieve, so it is
important to let all the people know about it and work collaboratively accomplish the
milestone. Discussing the issues that the time of happening and issues may allow the person
to work with full collaboration with the other person. The managers are responsible for
bringing unspoken conflicts, which will impact the other person to feel demotivated. The
managers have to stay connected to full fill the company’s goals. Otherwise, the goal cannot
be achieved by the unresolved conflicts.
Question 2.
Negotiators are having a critical role in conflict management, as they can utilize the situation
and make the parties feel that they are sharing the same goals for the organization. The
parties can use the smoothing method, where they empathize both of the parties and negotiate
with them to do the work, in order to work to achieve the company's goal. They can also use
compromise methods, to give up some of the reasons in order to get something useful for
reaching the organizational goals.
Question 3.
I can observe that I have faced some of the situations where silenced has worsened a conflict.
A couple of my friends had a conflict with others, and with the time the situation was getting
worse as they are discussing their problem with each other. Discussion makes the conflict end
with a proper solution. There are different types of communication could be done, and make
them encourage to talk with each other in various ways. Furthermore, discussion is one of the
prime methods that had been required at that time, and a collaborative and mutual resolve
was necessary to stop the conflict between them.

Week 11: Organizational Change
Sustainable Innovation
1. Supermarket Herb Gardens
In the year 2017, a Dutch supermarket chain has introduced in-store herbs gardens in the
stores. It helped me to reduce the waste and to have fresh products from there stores. All the
herbs are grown to maximum maturity before they are being transported to the stores.
2. Demetra: Reducing Food Waste Organically
The Italian start-up green code has created Demetra, which deals with food preserving, using
entirely naturally methods. As a result of that, the shelf life of the products gets increased, as
the natural methods are one of the most efficient ways by which I am able to preserve the
foods.
3. ENGIE Insight
It is an initiative that manages sustainable resources related to the business to decrease the
usage of environmental impacts. It provides me the knowledge of the sustainable technology
which can help the organizational businesses to full fill their goals.
4. The Smog free project
Dann Rosengaarde was the inventor of the first smog vacuum cleaner in the world. It helps to
reduce the smog in the air of climate and decrease the limit of pollution in the air. This
sustainable innovation not only affected my life in a better but also for other living in the
society.
5. Zephyr Solar
Karen Assraraf, Cedric Tomissi and Julie Dautel have developed a photogenic balloon and an
eco-friendly generator, which can capture the solar energy from the sunlight and passed it to
the disaster zones of the county. By that knowledge, I am now able to develop a
comprehensive data regarding the photogenic balloon and the working procedure of the eco-
friendly generator, which helped me to sustain the environmental balance.
Disruptive Innovations
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
It is a special type of intelligence that is being used in computers and mobile phones. AI
operates as an assistant in the system, which helps me to take different action based on the
requirement of that gadget (Richtopia, 2019).
