AI Summary
This report examines the vulnerabilities and security practices within home networks. The report highlights common issues like weak Wi-Fi passwords, default router credentials, and insecure configurations of smart devices such as smart TVs, gaming consoles, and appliances. It also discusses the risks associated with outdated software and a lack of network monitoring. The report analyzes how these vulnerabilities can be exploited by cyber attackers and suggests improvements such as strong password policies, regular software updates, and continuous network monitoring to enhance home network security. The report draws on the student's experiences and provides a comprehensive overview of the current challenges in securing home networks, referencing relevant sources to support its findings.

Question 1:-
In your experience at home, school, or work, what types of weak security practices have you
seen on networks?
Answer:-
This report writer observes quite a few common network security faults at his
surroundings. Mainly someone has a Wi-Fi router in their house to deliver internet access among
their family members. Most of the time this Wi-Fi password structure is not up to the mark , that
is the reason the hacker is quickly hacking Wi-Fi password and misuses this ("8 Android
Security Concerns That Should Scare IT - InformationWeek", 2020). The most prominent
problem for home network security is the same router's admin credential. The user are not
changed their initial router’s Id and password (admin credential), so hacker is quickly identified
this and hack it.
Apart from the Wi-Fi, most of the household are using Smart TV, tablet, Blu-ray player,
game console (Kizza, 2014). If the configuration procedure is not suitable for this home
appliances, so the attackers are easily hacked this. Every cyber specialist says that do not stay
logged into this website, as protection against CSRF attacks. In this situation, this attack would
transmit illegal commands from a hacker to the router's supervision website.
The vulnerable network is also very much dangerous for the school's network security.
Sometimes the school authorities are sharing some documents in the same mail chain, and that is
the reason the cyber hackers are quickly observing root network through this mail. The school
administration is not upgrading the software and not able to install the antivirus, so this is the
biggest reason for the school's network vulnerabilities. One of the biggest reason is that lack of

network monitoring ("8 Android Security Concerns That Should Scare IT - InformationWeek",
2020). The school authority is not able to monitor their network in regular (24*7) basis, and the
cyber attackers easily create huge chance to hack this network.
