Number of international visitors
In the year 2017, 58,472,157 tourists visited Hong Kong and this was 3.2% growth as
compared to the number of visitors in 2016. In 2016, 56,654,157 visitors visited the region.
To ensure that the visitors are accommodated comfortably, Hong Kong has 319 hotels,
providing 76,000 rooms to the travelers. The occupancy rate was 86% in the year 2017. The
region has also hired more than 280,000 for the hospitality of the international travelers. This
ensures that they have easy access to help at any point of time (Partnernet 2018).
Origin of travelers
Hong Kong has been a tourist destination for people from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Tourists from these countries
travel to Hong Kong and enjoy their stay for few days. The region also has tourists from
countries like the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Australia. These
tourists prefer to have a longer stay explore the country completely before they move back.
Since the last few years, travelers from India, Russia, Netherlands, and Vietnam also started
to explore the destination. In the year 2017, there were close to 101,360 tourists from these
markets (Discover Hong Kong 2018).
Types of tourism
Different tourists visit Hong Kong with a different purpose in mind. Tourists come here to
explore neighborhoods like old town central, Eastern district, Islands district, Southern
district and Wan Chai. 50% of tourists visit Hong Kong to explore the attractions. There are
themed attractions and Harbor attractions in Hong Kong and hence, everyone can explore
something that they love. The number of tourists is huge during the festive season. In October

2017, the number of flights to Hong Kong was almost doubled to meet the tourist
requirements.
Accommodation in Hong Kong
Each tourist can find an accommodation that best meets their comfort and budget
requirements. Families can find hotels that are located closer to the tourist accommodation
and at the same time, they can also find hotels as per their budget requirements. If people are
travelling in a group then they can opt for guesthouses where they can share the space with
other travelers or friends. The guesthouses are clean, well maintained with AC and individual

Victoria harbor
This is the lifeline of Hong Kong. The view is beautified with the containers vessels and the
beautiful coastline. This is situated between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula.
Tourists gather her to gasp the most beautiful view. The tourists also love to explore the
Chinese style boats with contrasting views on both sides, one side would be Hong Kong
Island with mountains around and the other side would be Kowloon which is very chaotic.

Aberdeen Fishing village
The fishermen in this village stayed in Sampan boat for long and the tourists can explore the
experience by staying or riding in this boat. This port has preserved the culture and hence, it
is one of the major tourist attractions if willing to explore Hong Kong culture. Even with the
increase in the number of high rise building, many fishermen here stay in Sampan boats.
Ocean Park
This is a marine theme park. It offers exciting rides, shows and also allows the tourists to
spend time with Kind Penguins. This place has 3 levels of aquariums of galleries, which will
allow the tourists to get closer with the aqua life. They also have a Dolphin Encounter
program wherein the tourists can get into the water and play with the dolphins.
Lamma Island
