Tri-City Medical Center v. Palomar Health
Tri-city medical center and Palomar Health are healthcare organizations which are based
in California. While tri-city is community owned, Palomar health is the largest independent
healthcare facility that is operated by the Palomar Health District. Both of these two hospitals
offer health services on acute care and also take part in the registry of stroke care, nursing care
and cardiac surgery. They also provide emergency services, electronically receive the laboratory
tests results and also have the ability to track the laboratory tests. Moreover, these two hospitals
referrals are electronically made for both of the facilities. Information from patient experience
surveys reveal that the staffs from both of the hospitals are very responsive and helpful when
called upon by the patients (Daly, & Matzel, 2013).. Also, the discharge information from both
of these hospitals is detailed and easy to comprehend thereby making it easy for the patients to
manage their own care. Both of these hospitals offer healthcare services to women and children,
heart care, and orthopedics. Despite the similarities, these hospitals exhibit several differences.
Palomar Health offers a wide range of rehabilitation services while Tri-city medical center only
offers cardiac rehabilitation. Palomar Health has a total of 690 licensed acute beds while Tri-city
medical center only has 397 licensed acute care beds (Shadfan, Williams, Tkach, & Loonia,
2017). From research conducted on patient experience, Palomar Health has a better and
improved transitional care than Tri-city. These hospitals are competitors for most patient
populations. However, Palomar offers more services like radiology, behavioral health, bariatric
surgery, diabetes services and home health which are not offered in Tri-city medical center.
