Introduction
In the world, we live today hospitals play a major role in ensuring that people within the society
are of good health as required. This, in turn, will lead to the growth of the country's economy
since workers are of good health and can concentrate on their work properly. All this is possible
when the hospitals can provide services that are of high quality and efficient to their patients.
Also for the services to be efficient, the hospital needs some adjustment due to advanced
technology it is easier to capture information.
Justification of the system
Hospitals are the backbone of society when it comes to matters of health. This is evident because
without proper medication people are not able to work as required. Some people depending on
the work they do force them to observe a diet. From this, we can note that hospitals require
special equipment and system that will provide efficient and quality service at the minimum time
possible to their clients (Cagiltay, Tokdemir, Kilic and Topalli, 2013.).
For this to be possible, hospitals require a system that will manage that manages data. This will
enable patients to book doctor's appointment online, pay for their bills online through the use of
debit and credit cards, enable doctors do their patient checkup at a faster way without seeing
them physically and also make it easier for receptionist and nurse to retrieve patient document
faster as compared to the manual way of searching for records. This system will improve the
hospital's way of handling things since most of this work will be automated which reduces the
chances of an error occurring when data is taken or stored.
Background of the business
In the case of the hospital, it has many services that take place daily. Some of these services
include booking of appointments, paying for bills; visitations that take place and patient’s profile
collection. These are displayed, in the report. In this system, we have patients, doctors,
receptionists, and other people employed. We have patients and doctors who register within the
system using their first and last names.
The receptionist can do the following:
 Admission of patients to their respective ward and department.

 Books doctor appointments on behalf of the patient.
The doctor also can:
Prescribe tests for the patient.
 Log into his/her account.
 Draw money from the clerk.
The system has a database that can store huge amounts of data.
Project scope
The system enables patients to view their progress when it comes to how they take their
prescribed dose or test. The system enables fasten appointment to be booked and allow payment
via the credit and debit cards. This means that the system can carry out many tasks without one
module interfering with the other (Fahad, 2009).

Use case diagram and sequence diagram of the system is designed
The above use-case diagram shows how the receptionist handles his/her work as required which
is booking appointments for the patients who come to the hospital and handling the admission
process of the patient (Swain,Mohapatra and Mall, 2010)s. On the other hand, the can prescribe
tests to the patient and he/she can log in to check on his/her details.

Below is the system’s sequence diagram
The sequence diagram shows what happens when the doctor prescribes a test for the patient and
how the patient pays for the prescribed medicine (Fahad., 2009). In the sequence, it also shows
how the patient requests for room checked by the receptionist. This sequence elaborates more on
what happens in the use case shown above but in a procedural way.

The above data flow diagram shows how various processes relate to one another (Greenyer,
Brenner and La Manna, 2013). In this case, it shows how the patient can generate their reports.
This may consist of a treatment report from the lab and the bill that the person has. It also shows
how the de
tails of the patient are accessed.

Below is an entity-relationship diagram of the hospital system (Al-Masree, 2015).
From the diagram, it shows that one doctor can see only one patient. This also applies to
payment and bill such that there can be many bills with no payment. This diagram shows how
one system relates to one another in the process of giving a result.

This is the main page that shows the viewer the scope of the hospital even before the user logs in
to check for other privileges that come because of being a registered user of the system. The
system’s design should be appealing to the eye of the user and has to be easy to navigate. This is
the expected final output of the system

The input screen is as represented below
This page allows users to log in with their Facebook account or their emails. For users registered
to the system, and those planning to register have their slot where they can do so. This page
enables users to gain access to privileges set for authorized users from the database.

The above report screen shows the managers an overview of what is expected according to plans
that are laid within the hospital. This screen report helps make decisions and budgets for the
hospital. In addition, it also shows the monthly report of the hospital.

Both the designers and owners of the system are able to know the period that the system will take
in order to be fully completed through the use of Gantt charts. It highlights all the processes and
the time is taken starting from analysis stage to maintenance which is the last stage in
development
process.
Conclusion
This design will provide efficiency and quality service to patients in many hospitals, which gives
results within a short time as required. It also shows how some of the entities relate to one
another, which facilitate in developing the system. With the help of the system, both doctors and
nurses will be able to get patient information at a very faster rate when compared to the manual
way.
