Hospitality refers to the relation which is created between a guest and a host (Chan and
Hsu, 2016). The industry which deals with it is known as hospitality industry. In this report, a
detailed analysis will be made on hospitality industry in U.K. and the way it operates serving its
various customers and clients.

P1: Businesses in hospitality industry
There are various types of businesses in the hospitality industry of United Kingdom.
These businesses are as explained as follows-
Lodging-Accommodation- In this, lodging and accommodation arrangement is provided
for the client (Jones, Hillier and Comfort, 2016). This is mainly provided by hotels,
resorts, guest houses etc. For example- There are different types of hotels providing
services ranging from lodging to other allied services like recreation.
Food and Beverage- In it, there are restaurants and other eateries providing food and
beverage to the clients by serving them effectively. For example- Restaurants of all
ranges can be included in this section which provides fine dining experience as well as
take-away also.
Travel and Tourism- Travel and Tourism are another core business within the
hospitality industry. In it, clients are served by travel agencies by arranging their travel to
any part of the world where they want to go to. Example is Travel Agencies which make
arrangements for people to travel according to their requirements.
Entertainment Industry- Entertainment industry is also a core business in the
hospitality industry. For example- Cinema Halls, Clubs etc.
Timeshare- It is an emerging sector in the hospitality industry. In it, people take the right
of owning a place for a particular period of time during a year. Examples of it can be
Convention Centers and Villas and Resorts.
