INTRODUCTION
It is essential that suitable improvements should be made in order to attain significant skills
which would be helpful in achieving desired objectives at a personal and professional level.
An individual could attain personal and professional development by effectively assessing
the weak areas of their skills and pursuing a suitable program for managing the weak areas.
Personal and professional development could be carried by the individual at any phase of
their career (Kirkwood, 2019). It could be conducted for attaining effectiveness in different
areas so that substantial benefit could be achieved in the career.
In this report, personal and professional development is developed for improving the skills
which are weak in nature and attain effectiveness for the desired career. Initially, the
assessment of the skills has been carried so that adequate information could be attained
regarding the weak areas of the skills. The models which would be utilized in the report for
assessing the skills are Gibbs Reflective Cycle and SWOT Analysis. The application of these
models would be helpful in meeting the required objective effectively. Further, the findings
of the models would be evaluated and utilized to develop the recommendations. The
recommendations would help in achieving the desired career ambition.

IDENTIFICATION AND EVALUATION
My career ambitions are to attain a potential job role in the hospitality sector. The Gibbs
Reflective Cycle and SWOT Analysis have been utilized by me in order to assess my skills
adequately. Initially, the Gibbs Reflective Cycle has been utilized for understanding the weak
areas and further the SWOT analysis would be conducted.
GIBBS REFLECTIVE CYCLE
The model is based on five stages which comprise of description, feelings, evaluation,
conclusion, and action (El Miedany, 2019). The last stage then again meets the first stage for
further improvement.
ï‚· Description
I have pursued my education as a Hair Stylist. Also, I have worked in the cleaning
department and receptionist in my past experience which helps me in indulging with
customers and meeting their requirements effectively. I possessed good
communication skills and healthy interpersonal skills. Still, I believe that I lag in
written communication and technological skills.
ï‚· Feelings
The working experience has been quite challenging but it helps at a certain level in
my career. My communication skills have been improved at a huge level as I have to
interact with customers and other people.
ï‚· Evaluation
I evaluated that the skills which are possessed by me are good at a certain stage but I
need improvement in some areas for gaining effectiveness.
ï‚· Conclusions
It has been concluded from the aforementioned analysis that there are various areas
where suitable changes are required so that effectiveness could be attained. In
addition, the weak areas should be managed effectively so that the professional skills
could attain strength.

The SWOT Analysis has been helpful in understanding my strengths and weaknesses. In
addition to this, it has been helpful in gaining knowledge of the opportunities which could
be availed in the future. It is assessed from the analysis that there are certain areas which
require major attention so that suitable enhancement could be attained. Moreover, there is
a learning model which could be utilized by me in order to attain substantial learning and
knowledge. The learning model is the Honey and Mumford Model which would be utilized
by me for gaining required learning.
HONEY AND MUMFORD MODEL
The Honey and Mumford model discuss four learning styles which could be utilized by the
individual to attain learning and knowledge (Kotecha, 2019). The learning styles could be
attained by the individual naturally or through constant efforts. The learning styles are:
Activists
The learning style focuses on taking action for getting involved and fully immersed in the
learning process. The individual should be open minded for learning and attain the
knowledge effectively.
Theorist
In theorist learning style, the individual thinks carefully and logically regarding the situation
instead of working in a certain procedure. In addition to this, the learner doesn't get
impacted by the emotions and question everything during the learning process. Also, they
don't make assumptions in learning without conducting proper research and analysis.
Overall, the individual relies on logical thinking along with the evidence for the learning.

Reflector
The individual in the reflector learning style learns by the observations. They listen and
understand the situation before making any statement. The major learning processes for
the reflector are feedback and observational activities.
Pragmatist
In the pragmatist learning style, the learner applied the knowledge and theories in order to
attain learning. The experiments and tests help the individual in gaining knowledge.
