1.0 INTRODUCTION
Hospitality is defined as relationship between the guest and host in which host receives
the guest with goodwill inclusive of the reception and entertainment to guest (Silva, Aires and
Melo, 2019). Tourism termed out as act and process of spending some leisure moments by
staying away from in pursuit of relaxation, sightseeing and camping etc.
The present report is based on business activities of multinational travel and tourism
company. It is firm that is considered as to the largest holiday fleet within Europe.
Henceforth, study will focus on activities as to define the work based competences
featured in this job role. Also, assignment will cover skills gained during the experience of
graduation ceremony. Additionally, report will include refection of personal development with
undertaking evaluation on skills.
1.1 Scope and aim of project
The present report is based on to link undergraduate level learning to the workplace.
Therefore, the main focus of this is study is on learning environment in order to enhance the
skills within an individual. In addition to this, the major emphasise of this study is over the
reflective practices and this also helps to define the role of effective research that enables to
improved the performance.
1.2 Work based competence in the job role
Work based competencies helps to define the knowledge, skills, abilities and other
requirements that are needed to perform to carry out the job role successfully. This report is
based with the competence for the job role of Hospitality and Tourism and to held graduation
ceremony (Adeyinka-Ojo, 2018). In addition to this, the competencies within the job description
identify the desired skills and behaviours that needed to perform the job successfully. In addition
to this, competency based job description aids to put more focus on the knowledge, skills and
abilities that aids to successfully accomplished the responsibilities of the job.
1.3 Overview of the company
The present report is based on business activities of TUI Group, it is multinational travel
and tourism company that is headquartered within Germany. This is entity that can be defined as
the largest leisure, travel and tourism enterprise within the world. It is enterprise that owns travel
agencies, cruise ship, airlines and retail stores etc. TUI group owns the five European airlines

that is making the largest tourism group within the Europe. It is the group of airlines that
operates both the scheduled and charted flights to more than 150 destination. This is the Airways
that has total of the 64 aircraft and flies from 26 British airport to the about 109 destination at the
worldwide level.
2.0 SKILLS GAINED DURING THE EXPERIENCE
2.1 Brief overview of section
This part of the research will demonstrate the ability to undertake kills that is beneficial
as an undergraduate student working within the field of Hospitality and Tourism. Therefore, this
section will inclusive of number of skills that helps to incorporates the evidence of competence
within the core based competences (Erazo, Ramírez and Zou, 2019). In order to carry out the
activities of Hospitality and tourism effectively, this is crucial to develop the skills as
interpersonal, communication, flexibility, adaptability, teamwork and dependability skills to
carry out the whole performance in an effective mode.
2.2 General and Transferable competence gained
2.2.1 Organisation, interpersonal and communications skills
In the graduation ceremony I have conducted the lot of practices and among this I found
out that my interpersonal and communication skills enhanced. This also helped me to conduct
the future course of action effectively and appropriately. During the 3 week of Graduation
ceremony I have worked with different people and teams and l found out that my communication
and interpersonal skill both get increased and this has helped me to communicate with others. I
have marketed the ceremony with the help of online platforms as use of social media, Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter etc. Also, I have made the deadline to conduct the promotional activities. At
the time of marketing, I have found that good marketing needs to have extra ordinary
communication and interpersonal skills.
Thus, the way of communicating with other aids to make impressive promotion of
ceremony. Communication is the essence of management and this helps to carry out the things
effectively and proficiently (Kim and Jeong, 2018). This task also helped me to enhance my
interpersonal skill as this has developed the ability to communicate or interact well with the other
people. It is the task that has supported me in to enhance confidence, collaboration and positivity.
Henceforth, I have identified that communication skill assist to plan, manage, organize, promote
and innovate the things effectively. In addition to this, communication skill can also be useful to

build and inspire the people to perform towards to accomplish the organisational goals. I must
say that being able to communicate effectively is one of the most important skills to learn and
also aids to develop the professional results. I must say that effective communication is one of
the way that helps to foster the good working relationship within the staff can turn to increase the
morale and efficiency within an individual.
2.2.2 Flexibility and adaptability
During the 3 week of graduation ceremony, I have faced lot of situation in which I need
to perform with the flexibility and adaptability skill. During the week 2, I was at the UEL
Dockland campus but then they have asked me to travel to other campus. At that day, the whole
scenario of a day get changed at the last moment. Somehow, I adapted the changes and flexibly
shifted to another campus as per requirement. This incident has helped me to know that I have
flexibility and adapted skill. I must say that this skill is very effective in terms to cope with the
changes in the last moment of any programme. Within the Hospitality and Tourism business this
skill play the effective role as this assist to carry out the things in more effective and efficient
manner. Therefore, flexible and adaptable nature plays the crucial role in carrying out day to day
task effectively. Flexibility develops the nature of accepting the changes and work towards to
conduct the whole things effectively by the staff members (Sharma and Sharma, 2019).
The adaptable nature of an employees is very crucial as they have ability to deal with the
changing working conditions. With this scenario I have found out that, being willing and able to
adapt the behaviour enhance the ability to communicate and build relationship with other people.
In terms to conduct the each things appropriately, this is crucial to have versatile nature.
2.2.3 Teamwork
At the week 3, I was at the Christmas UEL was about 9am for conduct the function of
volunteering team to help with charity to wrapping gift for homeless people. I was there from
9am to 16.00pm wrapping Christmas gift boxes for homeless people. At the first, I found out that
I was not good at wrapping and I was also taking time as I was not that much creative in it. Thus,
my colleague assisted me to wrap the boxes and after that I have started to pack the boxes very
fast. I have also mentored my another colleague and learn them that how to pack the boxes so
fast. I must say that it was proud feeling for me to pack the boxes for homeless people. This has
helped me to learn about the team work skill, this was great to enhance my team-working skill
within proficient manner. I have worked in an team and we have done all allotted in the same

time. In this way, I have also found out that my team working skill were effective and efficient
and this has also helped me to carry out the things professionally. Teamwork environment
promotes an atmosphere that aids to fosters the friendship and loyalty. I have evaluated that
collaboration within the group can help in terms to sort out the difficult issues. By working
together the teams can able to find out the solution that work best. During the week 3, when I
have faced the difficulties within wrapping the gifts the team teaches me to undertake the things
and this also led me to improvise the performance.
2.2.4 Dependability
In terms to conduct the task effectively and efficiently, this is crucial to look over the
each staff to carry out the task more proficiently. This is important to be dependant over each
other and help each other to deal with the crucial task and to manage the each thing within an
appropriate manner. I have found out that communication skills plays the major role as this aids
to enhance the interaction of each other to carry out the group goal. Thus, to remain in the group
this is crucial to have adaptable and flexible skill as this aids to leads towards to deal with
changing working conditions, structures, plans etc. In order to conduct the group activities, being
in team work this is significant to dependent on each and helps each other to deal with the
complex situation. This kind of collaborative work environment helps to carry out things in
effective and advanced manner. I have found out that if an employee is having the dependable
nature then it is significant quality for a worker to possess as this enhance a wide variety of job
performance categories.
3.0 CONCLUSION
Hereby, it can be concluded that skills plays an effective and crucial role to carry out the
day to day task in effective and efficient manner. Skills leads to develop the morality of
employees and also improves the way of doing work.
This part of research report has focused on General and transferable competence gained
with help of skills as organisational, interpersonal and communication, dependability, teamwork
etc. thus, report has also demonstrated about the experience of own performance within
graduation ceremony in order to reflect the effectiveness of performance.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This part is about to undertaking self evaluation in terms to determine the progress,
development and learning that aids to define that what has improved and what are the key areas
that still need some improvement. It is term that can be used for the variety of purposes and also
allows to assist an individual and entity to reflect on the performance to analyse the strength and
weakness.
The present report will undertake reflection on personal development by undertaking
evaluation on performance of Graduation ceremony.
2.0 REFLECTION OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Reflective practice is embedded within the all our work based learning provision and if
this undertaken regularly and thoroughly then it can have significant impact on performance of
work and also about the personal and professional development ( Elshaer, 2019).
Gibbs reflective cycle- It is model that provides a good way to work through an experience. This
is defined within following manner as-:
Description- To conduct the graduation seminar, me and my team decided to divide the different
section between group of team and to perform the activities accordingly. In this, 3 week we were
so dependable on each other to perform the each course of action. We had given ourselves
enough time to thinks on the each task and planned each things carefully. To marketing the
ceremony we have used Modern tools such as Facebook, Twitter etc. Thereafter, we have
decided to make some deadline to promote dates until the graduation. I have also analysed that
my interpersonal communication skill is not so effective and I became hesitate to talk with the
groups member and this things has impact over my working within the team. Thus, we have
carried out each activities collaboratively and this has helped to accomplish the desired result. In
week 2 I found out that time management skills was not so attractive as I have taken a bit long
time to build the tent. During the whole 3 week I went towards the different scenario, this also
helped me to analyse my core skill that impact the working condition in great and advanced
manner.
Feelings- The all task has accomplished within the set deadline. I was quite happy by seeing the
progress of activities of Graduation ceremony ( Singh and Jaykumar, 2019). During the week 3, I
felt some nervous due to sudden change in the plan and activities for a whole day. Firstly, I got

frustrated and couldn't able to find out a clue to do at very next moment. Thereafter, I have
decided to go to the Stratford campus. At there, we had indulged ourselves into a team
challenging activity to built the tents. I was building faster but then also other team won. During
that scenario, I have realised that I am not effective in time management skill. In addition to this,
time management plays the crucial role to conduct the day to day task proficiently. Without
effectively managed the time, the things cannot be done on the set deadline. To carry out the
group activities timely, this is crucial to carry out the things within the set deadlines. In the week
3, we had to volunteer team to help with a charity to wrapping gifts for homeless people. We had
allotted the work to wrap the boxes and this has helped me to define my creativity skill. At the
first, I was not knowing that how to wrap up the box nicely. I ended up the feeling quite guilty.
Afterwards, I have learnt from my one of colleague that how to wrap up the box and this has
helped me to enhance my skill towards to accomplish the desire results. Afterwards, I felt some
good and conducted the whole thing within the collaborative manner. At the last, I felt that
working within the group has both advantage and disadvantage. Thus, well appropriate and
advance team can lead towards to accomplish the desired goal to achieve the positive outcome.
Evaluation- In the graduation ceremony the things that worked well was the fact that each group
member produced a good quality of work for the agreed deadline. I must say that my all over
experience was quite impressive and I was lacking at the time management, problem solving and
creativity skill. Thus, proper evaluation has to be conducted and this has helped me to ascertain
that time plan of the group failed. With help of effective evaluation the whole things can be
undertaken nicely in the future course of action. Evaluative skills are termed out as to be
cognitive process in the context of evaluation and this is also motivated by an attitude of
inquisitiveness and belief that aids to undertake the effective evaluation of the core skills.
Analysis- I think the one of effective decision we have taken in the initial was division of work
that needs to went well and this all divided at the level that aids to people to self identified the
strength. I thinks this approach will help us to save time and also allows us to perform the task
efficiently. In the reality, this ended up costing us more time than the expected as within the
group the each task need more time to get it done. This happened because each individual needs
to get understand about the task and take step to divide the whole task as per the capability of
team members. I have analysed that team roles aids to ascertain that each person has certain
strength and weakness.
