I have chosen interviewee, who is currently working at Hostway Corporation. It has been told
that this information is going to be used in educational purpose and confidentiality of data
will be maintained. Purpose of this data collection is to understand what employees think
about organizational and their jobs. Participant has been asked about a typical day and
meaning of work for them.
Questions
a) The organization and job
1. Which type of company do you work for? Provide information regarding their
service or products.
The informant has mentioned that Hostway offers services related to hosting and
management of website. It seems like it is a medium-sized company and they value their
employees. The respondent has mentioned that they get motivation through rewards and
recognition programs. It means that this company is holding good organizational culture. I
have asked to mention the amount of monetary reward and get to know that it is up to $2500
USD for a team.
2. What is your role in the company?
The respondent said that he worked as a member of the hosting technical team. Different
technical works in website development are performed by this person. Apart from being a
part of the technical team other job roles are maintaining collaboration with other team
members and taking an active part in problem-solving. This can help to meet consumer's
expectations.
3. Are you getting enough value at your workplace?

In this question, the respondent says that Hostway provides different benefits like medical
and referral bonuses. Moreover, this firm tries to maintain a collaborative environment in the
workplace, which helps to provide proper value to employees. This firm also provides chance
to its employees to achieve success without any discrimination.
b) A typical day
1. Can you please describe a typical day at your workplace in details?
The respondents have shared his experience of a typical day at the office and it seemed like
employees are not facing excessive workload within this company. However, this response
has revealed that employees face conflicts due to negative behavior of some co-workers. It
seemed to me that some of the employees of this company are not showing positive attitude
to others and it may affect efficiency of teamwork.
2. Why are you considering this day as a typical workday?
I have prompted the respondents to mention the reason behind considering that particular day
as a typical one. Throughout the discussion, he has mentioned that he has faced both positive
and negative facts in that day at workplace. One side, the company has announced the reward
program and on the other hand, one of his co-worker shown negative attitude to him. It
seemed to me that his answer is quite reliable and this firm needs to arrange training program
to make employees understand the process to work in teams.
c) The meaning of work
1. What does the work mean to you personally?
The respondents told in this question that work is considered as a craft that can help to satisfy
different needs of clients. Different essential skills are developed by the respondents such as

technical skills and flexibility to enhance the quality of work. Moreover, work is also
considered as a way to develop professional skills by the respondents. Hard work can help to
increase different professional and personal skills that can help in career development.
2. Did you feel that your job makes a difference to other people?
Respondent said that technical work is the most essential part of website development. Any
glitch in the development process can cause failure of the project and impact on consumer
experience. Hence, this work obviously makes a difference to other people. It increases
satisfaction rate of customers and productivity of the company.
Analysis of gathered response is helping in concluding that Hostway Corporation provides
values to employees. However, individual employees need training for working in a team. All
employees must value others and work collaboratively.
