Introduction
Going green pays off both in ads and reservations. Environmentally sustainable resorts such
as Soneva resorts in Thailand regularly earn attention from popular people such as Gwenyth
Paltrow and publications such as Vogue. There are various ways where sustainability changes
can be made, here are a few:
For rooms
A guest of the hotel generates about two pounds of waste per night; half the waste is
paper, plastic and carton. A significant amount of waste paper on most hotels is added with
thick menus made of paper and inside the rooms and directories, and this can have an
immediate effect on the transition to a digital tablet. Small toiletries cost up to a lot of
needless plastic. This year, four countries adopted legislation restricting the use of small
shampoo bottles (Abokhamis Mousavi, Hoşkara & Woosnam, 2017).
In the Hotel's house, laundry rooms, kitchens, swimming pools or spas, hotels strive
to have efficacity and, in many cases, chemicals used for water treatment and cleaning
systems. The program involves towel and linen reuse systems that are now a standard for the
industry and low-flow rollers, showers and other installation equipment. In the slight
exception of domestic hotels, recycling schemes for important items such as newspapers,
drinking cans are necessary. Hotels consider ways to reduce recycling activities on paper and
other items in tandem. The composting systems for hotels and resorts can be introduced by up
to 40 to 50% of the waste that is removed from the sites. Most hotels make a statement by
providing personalized services to their guests. Resort companies like RockResorts took it
one step further with a nature-based, functional petroleum-based custom-formulated, non-

problem is whether the guests want a cleaner on their cell phone to visit their room the next
day. This choice can be approved or denied. If guests fail to clean their regular room, give
them a coupon or voucher. And Room Keys are made of highly toxic plastic PVC (polyvinyl
chloride) in contemporary plastic key cards. Many hotels move on to cards made of paper,
wood and bioplastic that are more eco-friendly but still durable. Many hotels have switched
to cleaning products made of organic oils and other natural cleansers, realizing the value for
clients, staff and the community of healthy products. There is limited use of bleach chlorine
and of petrochemicals. Natural products like neem-pepper have been popular, as they are less
damageable to visitors and employees and less hazardous for the environment (Mensah,
2013). Hotels worldwide seek to minimize energy usage, preserving – and where possible
improving – visitors 'experience through core operations such as boilers and lighting systems,
kitchen appliances and integrated energy management systems, in order to conserve
electricity.
Treatments of local and autochthonous ingredients, natural and organic products are
becoming more and more popular in all spas. In addition, exclusive facilities have been
established to offer the guests an exclusive relationship to brands and resorts.Food and
beverage
Safe business practices include the use of tap water, not bottled water where practicable. It is
estimated that there is no safe drinking water for 1 billion people worldwide, 2.5 billion
people do not have access to basic health care, and four children die each minute due to water
disease (Li, 2011).

Use biodegradable packaging for carbon emissions reduction administration and product
supply chain procurement to minimize. Reduced cost of operations can be attained by bulk
purchases from local manufacturers, requesting reduced packaging, seasonal purchase, etc.

water suppliers, free re-fillable bottles and other solutions that provide guests with easy and
tasty alternatives to water in plastic bottles. Hotels and resorts are increasingly incorporated
in menus of all kinds that incorporate organic, hormonal, dairy and other natural products
Supply chain and administration
The enhancement of suppliers 'quality of food and service as hotels strengthens
supplier relationships. They would also reduce risks to the environment and health and avoid
the negative marketing of "problems" purchases (Hawken, 2017).
The reason for choosing this hotel was primarily its location. Since it is 35km from the
airport, and near to the ocean, the footfall is huge. Also, it has a restaurant that does both eat-
in and takes out, great parking and conference services. Implementing food and beverage
sustainability services on both take out and eat in becomes an advantage. Also, a 75 room
hotel can save a great deal for the environment if the room services plan as stated is
implemented. With more people, the effect multiplies.
When planning a huge event, Event planners should ask their hotels what particular attempts
are being made to be more sustainable, ranging from household ventures to guest
accommodation, food and beverages or spas. These hospitality developments will assist
planners in making informed choices.

The environment is important for all of us to sustain life on this planet, to heal and reverse the
damage that has been done to the planet, the only answer is to take care of it in a way that it
does not disrupt normal human activities. Thus, sustainability is important and needs to be
executed on a large scale. Tourism and hotels are one part where habits can be inculcated,
but, everyone should practice these.
