Impact of Automation in the Hotel Industry: Report and Analysis

MAIN BODY
Use of automation in hotel industry has various drawbacks. I myself work in an hotel and I
am against the use of technology in hospitality Like for example there has been an increasing
threat of Cyber Attack and security Breaches. Attack on hackers is one of the serious problem
that can be faced by Hotel industry. They can cause problems and damage to internal working
system of hotel. Also it has been analysed that automated equipment’s that are being installed by
hotel includes high capital investment (Advantages and dis-advantages of Automation, 2017).
Like for example there was a case in Hotel Casino, London where the hacker have access to high
roller database with the help of a thermometer which was kept at lobby fish (Egorov,
Arkhangelskiy and Arkhangelskaya, 2018). The attackers used the thermostat to get a foothold in
the network and they then found the high-roller database and pulled that data back across the
network, out the thermostat and up into the cloud.
It has been analysed that The main disadvantage which can be faced by hotel industry by
installing automated devices is the displacement of worker from work place. It has been analysed
that employee who has been removed from work might face emotional stress. When hotel is
installing automated machine, a higher level of maintenance may be needed in comparison with
those machines which can be handled manually (Roosli, 2019). There is various risk which is
being associated with using automated machines (Pros and Cons of IOT in hospitality sector,
2016). The employees are becoming slaves of these machines and also human privacy can be
hampered by computer data network. In hotel industry errors can appear in managing technology
which can lead to endangering civilization and the dependence of society on automation for its
economic wellbeing will be increased.
Also by using automated machines in hotel industry flexibility can be lost. It brings
modifications in workflows (Ivanov, Webster and Berezina, 2017). In order to over come these
problems I feel that hotel industry must engage in recruiting and selecting efficient employees so
that every work can be done manually and also they get various employment opportunities
