INTRODUCTION
Hotel industries are considered as bustling organisation within hospitality sector, that
caters services to customers in a holistic manner. Success of business of these enterprises mainly
depends on how effectively they serve their clients. It usually emphasises on offering best
accommodation facilities and providing timely services to potential customers (Ali, Amin and
Ryu, 2016). This report showcase contribution of housekeeping department in giving effective
accommodation services. For this purpose, Grange City Hotel is taken which is located nearby
Tower of London. It has 15 conferences, 1 Pentahouse, 10 suites and 307 en-suite rooms. In this
regard, role facilities and importance of securities plays within respected hotel also explored.

P6. Key roles and responsibilities of housekeeping department
In hospitality industry, every department plays specific role in providing best services to
customers and get their retention, for longer period. Here, in Grange City Hotel, its housekeeping
department helps in maintaining proper cleanliness and providing better experience for targeted
customers (Köseoglu, Ross and Okumus, 2016). The main roles and responsibilities of this
division can be explained in following manner:
Assign guest rooms and common areas to housekeeping staff: In order to provide
services on time to each client as per their request, housekeeping supervisor of Grange
City Hotel assign roles to each member. They also keep update staff members as per
check-in and check-out procedure of guests. This would help in ensuring timely
cleanliness and provide on-time services to customers.
Monitor proper cleanliness and inspect rooms: Housekeeping department is mainly
responsible to inspect the work of staff members and ensure services meet as per hotel
standards.
Hire, train and maintain discipline under housekeeping staff: It is utmost duty of
respective division which involved hiring suitable workers, provide essential training and
maintaining discipline at workplace.

For hotel industries, demand forecasting solutions refers as best holistic tool. It aids
revenue managers in understanding when forecasts need to be changes and determine reasons for
creating modifications (Cetin and Walls, 2016). In context with present enterprise i.e. Grange
City Hotel, forecasting linen stock and other guest supplies help in setting up the correct
strategies to drive incremental profitability. Utilising forecasting information helps in
collaborating other departments to provide best customer services on time. In terms of supply
chain management, forecasting helps in ensuring that there is an enough supply of resources for
satisfying demand of customers. Other main benefits, respective hotel can gain by understanding
the concept of forecasting linen stock are:-
Effective supply chain management: In order to meet specific demand of clients and
meet the same, an overestimation helps in bloating inventories and high costs. In this regard,
supply chain management involves procedure to ensure there is an enough supply to meet
business requirement, through proper planning, monitoring and controlling entire activities.
Forecasting demand and coordinating activities: A good demand forecasting activity
helps in calculating estimated sales within a four-week moving average period. It helps in
controlling high inventories due to overestimation of demand as well. Along with this, given
procedure aid managers of Grange City Hotel in building a competitive infrastructure,
synchronising supply with demand and measuring company's performance also.
P 8 Importance of interrelationships between housekeeping and other key departments
For developing and managing best accommodation services, entire departments of
Grange City Hotel work in collaboration. As housekeeping department plays most important role
in raising satisfaction of customers by keeping rooms and other area properly cleaned (Bowie
and et. al., 2016). Therefore, interrelation of this division with other departments can be
evaluated in following manner:-
Housekeeping coordination with Front Office: Here, housekeeping supervisor prepares
room as per client requirement and front-desk manager sales that room after preparation.
Therefore, both cooperates each other to shape room and other accommodations to provide
timely services.

Housekeeping coordination with Food & Beverage: F&B department mainly
contributes its efforts to provide proper hygienic and tasty food as per demand of customers.
With this assistance, housekeeping department coordinate with this department to maintain
standard of hygiene factor and keep outlets clean before entrance of guests or deliver services in
their rooms.

P9 Importance of scheduling maintenance or repair work for minimising disruption to guest.
With proper scheduling maintenance, Grange City Hotel becomes able to maximise its
assets and minimise cost as well. This would aid managers to make appropriate decisions related
to sustain assets (Boella, 2017). In addition to this, they can develop policies for reducing the
factors which may create disruption to its guests. In this regard, managers of respective hotel
emphasises on some main principles for developing policies to minimise cost. It includes
ensuring a safe working environment for managing accommodation services, make more
investment in building infrastructure and equipment for regular preventative maintenance.
Furthermore, they also provide a well-structured plan for maintenance and cost-effective
expenditures.
Therefore, proper and timely scheduling maintenance give opportunity to management of
Grange City Hotel in maximising productivity and optimising expenditures. Along with this,
they can also prepare plans to minimise consequences related to unexpected failure of
equipments, that may disrupts to its clients.

P10. Importance of security within a selected organization.
In current scenario security is one of the major concern in every business. Customer
mainly prefer those hotel which have peaceful and secure environment so that they can enjoy
there holiday or quality time in appropriate and effective manner (Dzhandzhugazova and et. al.,
2016). In situation of Grange City Hotel it is essential for them to maintain there security system
as much as they can do. This will attract customers, that this hotel premise is secure and safe.
Below mention is some major importance of security:-
Provide safety to customers: When a customer come and stay in hotel they want secure
and peaceful environment. This will attract customers and also they fell safe and satisfied with

hotel services. When customers will attract it will directly leads to business. Thus every hotel
must maintain security in hotel premises.
Make proper amendments of risk: Every hotel must maintain proper arrangement and
amendments of risk in there premises. So that when any dangerous situation occur they can
handle and get over from it in effective manner which also attract customers.
CONCLUSION
Through this report, it has analysed that for providing and managing high
accommodations within hotel industry, every department gives its contribution. They give
support and work in collaboration to provide best services to customers. Along with this, by
understanding the importance of forecasting linen stock, scheduling maintenance and security, a
hotel can also ensure about safety and security of its clients and employees.
