INTRODUCTION
The current report comprises of the reflection of the experience based on the work
assigned by my manager to set up, create and manage the team to complete a project based on
suggesting effective marketing strategy for a hotel. It has been seen and analysed that managing
a team is a difficult task and setting effective communication and coordination among work is
required that has been further discussed in the current report.
Within my workplace, I was asked by my manager to create and manage a team to complete
a project The project was based on suggesting the strategy to improve the marketing of the hotel
for which a time of only 4 hours was given. As only a small period of time was allowed had to
work quickly and would not receive any extra pay for completing this project. Conflicts and
chaos among the team members had been faced by me as a manager which negatively impacted
the productivity of the team members and efficiency level of the project. Thus, adoption of an
effective management style was needed (Williams-Thompson, 2021).
On the basis of the article on The Blake Mouton managerial style, I decided that making use
of the ‘Team Leader approach (Blake Mouton, as cited in Make a Dent Leadership, 2021) was
most appropriate and suitable in the current situation. ‘Team Leader’ management means a
person who provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to a group of individuals (the
team) for the purpose of achieving a key result or group of aligned results (Blake Mouton, as
cited in Make a Dent Leadership, 2021). The adoption and use of the team leader approach as a
manager supported the achievement of high performance work through creating a higher level of
dedication in the members. The team leader approach supported me as I made some suggestions
for my team, that are based on proper discussion and adapted together. Further the division of the
work among team member has been also based on their strengths. Further, I also asked if they
needed help as they carried out setting up the marketing plan. Along with this, the team leaders
approach also supports open mindedness and flexibility within me while performing the job role
of manger that supports better interaction and connection within the team members based on
trust and inspiration to achieve higher level of performance (Marotz, 2021).
Thus, an analysis and conclusion can be made that the team leader approach supported the
higher level of transparency and accountability based on the feeling of higher commitment and
loyalty that helps in resolving the issue of workplace conflicts.
