Plan and undertake a job interview for Hotel Supervisor
Job interview process for the hotel supervisor undertaken such as first the human resource
management of the company has screened the CV and accordingly shortlisted the candidates. I
was there in the shortlisting process. Then the personal interview was taken in which the five
major questions were asked by the human resource people which are related to the hotel
supervisor post. First question to me was what would be my strategy for organising a large event
like a conference and convention in the hotel (Sun, Song, Kong and Bu, 2020). I replied that I
would target organising hotel events similar to the past. In my educational period I was in charge
of managing the event in which I have undertaken fundraising efforts in various clubs and
organisations and managing them as well. Second question asked how I can plan to handle light
bulk checking at the hotel. I replied that when I will be dealing with the customers, I will take
help from other staff to let them check in. My target is to complete this process as quickly as
possible without compromising with the quality to meet the customer's expectations. Third
question was how do I plan to oversee the training of new staff. I replied that I will meet all the
new joiners in the hotel and available for the orientation and training program so that better
interaction can be done with the fresher. Fourth question was how I would react to a negative
review and complaints from the customers. I replied that I will handle the things personally and I
would consult the customers by listening to all their complaints and try to fix it out so that the
customers can be satisfied with the service and make sure that this problem would not happen
again with any of the other customers. Fifth question is what are my methods to keep the cost
down. I replied that I will make sure that the customers can get the fresh supply of necessary
things. Some guests carry personal things but then too the hotel provides them so it is not
compulsory to provide everything even if the customer is caring with them because this can be
the expense for the hotel and it can be implemented to reduce the cost by providing the things
which the customers do not have (Ferreras-Garcia, Sales-Zaguirre and Serradell-López, 2019).

have given me the feedback about what were my strengths in the interview process and what
were my weaknesses at the time of interview. First they told me about my positive points which

multitasking efficiency (Ashraf, 2019). Moreover, I am attentive and paneer with the training and
development sessions along with the critical thinking skills and innovation and values in the
workplace. My negative points which means weaknesses they have delivered to me such as I was
lacking confidence while delivering my answer which has shown the poor communication skills.
They also told me that I am lacking in my cooperative and thinking skills because every time I
answer by taking two or three minutes which is more than sufficient to answer such an easy
question if you want to enter in the profession of the supervisor. Summarising all these things
they told me that I am good in my theories in management but at the time of implementation I
need proper training and development but experience to execute the same (Park, Johnson and
Chaudhuri, 2019).
Reflection of own abilities during the job interview process
I have received the feedback from the interviewer in the form of my strengths and
weaknesses because we have evaluated and analysed my interview so that they can properly
communicate my negative and positive points to me for future improvements. The way they
interacted with my strengths and weaknesses I totally agree with the points. I will definitely try
to improve my confidence level and communication skills along with thinking and cognitive
skills. These are very important for the interview process in order to crack any interview
especially in the supervisor post and therefore I will work on it.
