INTRODUCTION
Hospitality sector is wider category of area within service industry that includes drink
and food facilities, theme parks, travelling and food and drink services (Guskey, 2014). Hotels
sector is considered with provision of visitor accommodation and related facilities. They cover
restaurants, cafes, bars, night-life and number of travel and tourism facility. This industry is
dependent on availability of disposable income and leisure time. Food and beverages, travel and
tourism, lodging and other sectors covered in hospitality sector. The present report is based on
hospitality industry and hotel sector, it explains SWOT analysis and Professional development
plan based on specific job role in hotel. It defines employability skills and IT skills required in
hotel as particular job position.
MAIN BODY
Hospitality field such as the hotel and direct operations for example, housekeepers,
bartenders, marketing, management, human resources and servers etc. range of hotels work
under this industry since for so long effectively and provide their better services and products to
guests which is beneficial for overall business as well as whole industry. Hotel industry growing
their businesses more and more with the help of skilled and talented peoples (Whitworth and
Chiu, 2015). Event planner, hotel general manager, event planner, accounting manager, Human
resource manager, security department manager are the main job roles within hotel. All above
job roles perform well and work effectively in company which is beneficial and effective for
hotel as they help to increase profit and generate revenue. With the help of employability skills,
Accounting department manager can be able to perform or work perfectly within hotel in order
to manage cash flow.
Skill Audit-
Skill audit is the essential procedure for analysing and measuring and recording abilities
of group or individual. With the help of conducting the skills audit in any organization is
beneficial as they can be able to identify and determine knowledge and skills that required for
current job position as well as identifies knowledge that firm currently has (Filipe and et.al.,

2014). Skill audit process helps to lower development and training costs which is profitable and
useful for company. Furthermore, it is also done to identify training needs so the firm improve
their abilities and knowledge, deployment and restructuring is one of the another reasons for
conducting skills audits.

threats into the organized list. In simple words, SWOT analysis is has been conducting for
analysing personal skills, abilities and weaknesses which need to improve in order to work
effectively. It is one of the best framework, that helps to focus on person strength, decrease
threats, take the greatest possible benefits of opportunities available within Hotel sector.
Strength-
Time management skills is very essential while working in firm as it helps to managed
work, support to make strategic plans and solve issues. With the help of time management skills
I can be able to set my goals, focus on essential things and make plans after analysing situations
which is advantageous for my career growth. With strong time management skills I can be able
to find out the best results and increase my productivity. I can identify which person is not
working to best of their ability and accomplish given task. I can be able to use my time in the
manner which serves my goals.
I can be able to evaluate circumstances and take decision for betterment which is
beneficial for me as well as others. With the help of appropriate and suitable decision I can be
able to save money, energy and time as well.
Weaknesses-
Leadership skills is important component in positioning executives to make useful
decisions about company goals and mission. I cannot have the best leadership skills such as
motivation, direction etc. that help me a lot. I cannot be able to improve productivity, ability to
succeed under pressure, motivate other while working in team and inspire my team members to

drive towards achieving business objectives and goals. I also cannot be capable to communicate
effectively with others and work within team or group.
Opportunities-
Ability to analyse, interpret and model data is beneficial for me, in which I can be able to
analyse collect data or information and provide the best and suitable outcomes. With the help of
data analysing and monitoring skills I can garb the advantages as working in the most popular
hotel. I have the ability to plan work and meet deadlines of tasks which helps me to get the best
job in company.
Threats-
When person does not have the employability skills they cannot be able to work within
large company or hotel effectively (Angeline, 2014). Lack of mathematical and IT skills person
need to suffer a lot and loss job as well. It is threatened situation that effect on my personal as
well as professional career development and growth negatively. I am unable to work within new
technologies and have less IT skills that put negative effect on my job profile and make barrier as
I wish to work accounting department manager.
PDP- Professional development plan
Professional development plan is the process which designed to enable to think about,
plan for person personal, career and academic development. Professional or personal
development plan is the formal means by which an individual sets out strategies, results and
goals of training and learning. It helps to assist person in career and personal improvement or
development, its main purpose is to support individual reach long and short term career goals as
well as help to improve recent and further job performance.
