Introduction
Developing a website of a hotel named “The Curtain” which is situated in United
Kingdom and an organization is developing a website for this hotel. So, in the website
of this hotel, many of the images are used which were discovered using a method
DICD (Digital Image Creation and development). The images developing from this
method is looking attractive and with a very high resolution which seems to be so
cool and attractive. The images used here are full of colour, perfect contrast, perfect
brightness and pixel density of the images are high.

LO1. Be able to create digital images for specific purposes.
1.1 Identify sources for digital images
Images are nothing but a moment which is captured. Images can be formed using
many kinds of stuff like Camera, sketching, etc. Most of the images in the computer
system are displayed in the form of binary numbers because the computer system only
understands the binary language. The digital image is just a representation of the
image which is real to the world but seen in the computer system in the form of binary
values and displays that image in only a real-world image. If the image is translated
into numbers, then it will only be compressed in the form of pixels.
Images are only in two forms black & white and colourful. Black & white images are
the normal images which are displayed through any medium. And talking about the
colourful image, it can be of two types RGB (Red, Green, Blue) and CMYK (Cyan,
magenta, yellow, black). The RGB images are seen in the screens and monitors, while
the CMYK images are used in the printers, monitors, scanners etc.
The sources which are used in digital images are:
Primary Resources are the resources which are the view or the thing whose image is
taken or created. The primary source is either a person or a background view or
anything whose image is to be taken or created.
Secondary sources are the sources with whom the image is to be taken. There are
many intermediates through which the image is created or taken like a scanner, a
camera, and many more things.
Recording sources are the sources which are used to record or capture the moments
in the form of the image. This process is done through the camera. If no of images is
run at a time when this will be called video which contains a number of frames per
second (Wesson, 2011).
There are many of the input devices in the computer system through which the images
are created and stored are as follows:
Cameras
Scanners

Video camera
Cameras are used to capture the images which are held in the real world. The one can
make the video and take images from the camera. Nowadays many devices come with
a camera.
Figure 1 – Camera
The scanner is used to scan an image and to store it in the computer system with high
resolution. The scanner is an input device which takes the input from the external
world and gives the output. The image is taken as an input from the real world and
after scanning it used to store on the computer system.

Figure 2 – Scanner
External hard drive and USB are the input devices which are used to send or receive
the data from the computer. In other words, images are moved from one place to
another place.
Figure 3 – Hard disk
Mobile phones are used as a medium to communicate but nowadays many of the
mobile phones come with the camera to take the images and they have internal
storage too to save the images in the system.

A video camera is used to develop a video. A video is a word which is defined as the
no of frames per second. In other words, the images were run subsequently in a
particular time interval is known as a video (Hussain, 2017).

1.2 Create digital images from the source for a specific purpose.
In the real world the images are categorized in two basic forms which are as follows:
Analog images
Digital images
Analog images are the images in which there is a continuous variation while
representing any image. In other words when a continuous variation occurs in any
image while developing an image, then it is called analog image which is developed
through the analog signals. The photographic film which is developed is developed
with the analog image processing method. X-ray report, black & white films which
are developed using chemicals. As before there were cameras which have “rolls”
inside the camera in which the pictures were stored and after the roll is full then it
used to carry and take it to the laboratory to develop it and from some of the chemical
processes the film was developed and it can be colourful or black & white. As
developing the website of the hotel named “The Curtain” analogue images are also
used because they give high quality but takes time.
Digital images are the images which are developed easily or which are captured
through any device like a camera or taken into the computer system by any input

device like a scanner or any output device like a printer. The digital images do not
need any complex method to develop its images, they are developed through a very
simple process. Just click the pictures and they are stored in the storage. If you want
them in hard copy, then you should easily develop it through a printer. The format of
digital images is in the following extensions: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, and pdf. In
developing the website of Hotel named “The Curtain” the Digital images are used
because they have good quality and take less time than analogue images (Canon,
2011).
Talking about the quality of the image, the resolution of the image is to be
maintained. The higher is the quality of the image the higher is the size of the image.
The quality of the image depends on the pixel quantity which is present in an image.
If the pixel quality of an image is higher than the resolution of the image is higher.
The quality of the image also depends on the screen resolution in which the image is
displayed because if the screen quality has less pixel density that the screen has a
resolution of 480 pixels and the image is 1080 (full HD) then the image is not
displayed at that best quality.
When image processing is done then one thing has to keep in mind that it was
necessary to give the file format of the image very clearly. One has to specify the size
of the image so that every person can easily see and take the image by needs. The
most important thing to keep in mind is that the image generated or developed from
one device is in the form that it can be cross-platform. Cross-platform in the image is
defined as the image which is developed in a system has to be run at other systems
also and at different operating systems (Molt, 2008).
