TASK 1
1. Visibility of System Status
The Visibility of System Status is the first principle of Heuristic. The following are the points
regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t really show the status instead of that it just
shows the buffering.
 This issue is a problem as it doesn’t give a clear idea about the status of the work.
 This issue is not considered to be the major one as it could easily be resolved by just
providing the loading screen with the numerical representation.
 In order to resolve this issue, the loading screen with the numerical representation could be
used that would represent the completion of the loading part in percentage.

2. Match between system and the real world
The Match between system and the real world is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are
the points regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t provide a clear understanding to the users as
the Sign-up could be replaced by “Be a member to get entertained with HOYTS”.
 This issue is a problem as it doesn’t provide a clear understanding of the user.
 This issue is not considered to be the major one as it could easily be resolved easily.
 In order to resolve this issue, the sign-up text could be replaced with the text “Be a member
to get entertained with HOYTS”

3. User Control and Freedom
User Control and Freedom is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the points
regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t provide the alert message while entering the
details of the cards for the online payment.
 This issue is a problem as it doesn’t provide the user with the alert message as it is necessary
before the confirmation.
 This issue considered to be the major one as it has to be resolved.
 In order to resolve this issue, the proper alert message would be added in the website that
asks for the confirmation before the payment is finally made.

4. Consistency and Standards
Consistency and Standards is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the points
regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it contains different buttons but not all the buttons are
equally dimensioned.
 This issue is a problem as it doesn’t look good for such a big website as everything must be
clean and equally aligned and equally dimensioned.
 This issue is not considered to be the major one as it could easily be resolved easily.
 In order to resolve this issue, proper alignments of the buttons, as well as the text, is done.

5. Error Prevention
Error Prevention is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the points regarding this
page:

 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t show the proper error message while entering
the email_id.
 This issue is a problem as this doesn’t give the proper message to the user when wrong
credentials are entered.
 This issue is not considered to be the major one as it could easily be resolved easily.
 In order to resolve this issue, a proper message should appear that would give the perfect idea
to the user about the error.

6. Recognition rather than recall
The Recognition rather than recall is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the points
regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t show any search option to the user as the user
doesn’t get a clear idea.
 This issue is a problem as this doesn’t give the proper search option to the user.
 This issue is considered to be the major one as it has to be resolved properly.
 In order to resolve this issue, a proper search icon is to be created that would help the users to
search for various movies or the theatre.

7. Flexibility and Efficiency of use
The Flexibility and Efficiency of use is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the
points regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t provide the proper details about the use of the
current application.
 This issue is a problem as the new user must get the small tutorial regarding the use of the
application.
 This issue is not considered to be the major one as it could easily be resolved easily.
 In order to resolve this issue, the proper guideline must be provided to the user about the use
in the most simple and understandable language.

8. Aesthetic and minimalist design
The Aesthetic and minimalist design is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the
points regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it contains a lot of stuff at the home page and it has to be
resolved to maintain the requirements of this principle.
 This issue is a problem as this issue contains so much stuff on the home screen and it
contains lots of confusion for the user who is seeing it.
 This issue is considered to be the major one as it has to be resolved to make the website more
attractive and simple.
 In order to resolve this issue, the distribution of all the stuff present on the screen must be
distributed in a way that all the content gets covered and things a lot cool and nice.

9. Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors
Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors in the next principle of Heuristic. The
following are the points regarding this page:
 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t give the full information of the error to make
it understandable for the customer or the user.
 This issue is a problem as this issue makes the customer stand in trouble of understanding
what he is doing wrong and it needed to be done.
 This issue is considered to be the minor one as it could easily be resolved by adding the
proper messages or help boxes.
 In order to resolve this issue, the screen would appear with the message that what type of
issue is encountered and how it would be rectified.

10. Help and Documentation
Help and Documentation is the next principle of Heuristic. The following are the points regarding
this page:

 The issue present in this page is that it doesn’t provide the customer with the help icon so that
it would easily be possible for the client to sort his problems by clicking on that button.
 This issue is a problem as this issue confuses the customer as he/she don’t get to know where
and the issue would get resolved in a proper and simple way.
 This issue is considered to be the minor one as it could easily be resolved.
 In order to resolve this issue, a proper help icon or the button would be created that would
definitely help the customers to reach to the help page by just clicking on that button and
could also resolve their problems easily.
For getting a clear understanding related to this principle, Refer to Appendix Fig. 10.

TASK 2
Recommendations
1. In the first part of the above task, the screen doesn’t properly follow the Visibility of System
Status principle as at most of the places the amount of time that would be taken is not clearly
mentioned instead of that just the buffering part is shown. The recommendation for this issue is that a
proper screen is created as shown in Appendix Fig 11. This screen provides a clear idea about the
work done in the form of the percentage.
2. In the second part of the above task, the screen doesn’t properly follow the Match between system
and the real world as the proper message in simple language is not provided to the user where he/she
could easily understand it. In order to resolve this issue and making the design follow the heuristic
principle a proper message such as sign-up is replaced with “Be a member to get entertained with
HOYTS”. The recommendation for this issue is that a proper screen is created as shown in Appendix
Fig 12.
3. In the third part of the above task, the screen doesn’t properly follow the User Control and
Freedom as here the user doesn’t get the proper alert message which is properly resolved in this part.
The issue is resolved by providing the alert message to the user when he/she reaches the final step
before making the payment. This issue is resolved as shown in Appendix Fig. 13.
4. In the fourth part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the Consistency and Standards
heuristic principle because the buttons or the text boxes that are shown in the screen are not similar or
consistent in few of the places. The issue is resolved by providing the proper representation of each
and every button and the design is clear and consistent. To refer to the solution of this issue is
mentioned in Appendix Fig. 14.
5. In the fifth part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the Error Prevention heuristic principle
as when wrong entries are made no proper message appears. Here, the issue is properly resolved by
providing a clear message to the user and explaining him/her where they went wrong and how the
error will not be repeated. To refer to the solution of this issue is mentioned in Appendix Fig. 15.
6. In the sixth part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the sixth principle of Heuristic
principle that is Recognition rather than recall. The screen issue is resolved by adding the proper

search option to the user and along with it, the user gets various recommendations related to the
search. To refer to the solution of this issue is mentioned in Appendix Fig. 16.
7. In the seventh part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the heuristic principle named as
Flexibility and Efficiency of use. To follow this principle the website must contain the proper
guidelines for the new users as they could easily use the website with prior knowledge. In order to
check the solution of this issue refer to Appendix Fig.17.
8. In the eighth part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the heuristic principle named as
Aesthetic and minimalist design as the home screen contains a lot of stuff on the home screen as the
principle says that the screen must contain the minimalist design and in order to resolve the issue, the
screen shown in Appendix Fig 18 is to be referred where the design contains the less and important
type of data.
9. In the ninth part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the heuristic principle named Help
users to recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors. This principle is a bit similar to the principle
named Error prevention. To resolve this issue the user must be provided with a proper error message
that could help him/her with the solution of how to avoid such mistakes. In order to check the solution
of this issue refer to Appendix Fig.19.
10. In the last part of the above task, the screen doesn’t follow the heuristic principle named Help and
Documentation. To resolve this issue the website must contain a help icon by clicking on which the
user could easily reach to the help page and can easily rectify their issues. The solution to this issue
could be seen in the Appendix Fig. 20.
