ABSTRACT
For the person to be successful it is very essential that they have effective personality. In the
competitive era there are many people working for a common job. Hence for having a
competitive advantage the person has to have some personality factors and self awareness within
them. The present study outlined the relationship between the personality factors and self
awareness. The personality factors included openness, agreeableness, neuroticism, extraversion
and conscientiousness. In addition to all these big five personality traits it is essential for a
person to be self aware. The current study outlined the fact that the reliability of each and every
element is very good that is above 75. Moreover, with the help of correlation Matrix it was
identified that the correlation between five self other agreement and self-awareness was 14.8%.
In addition to this the factor which was having the maximum correlation with big five
personality trait was agreeableness that is 25.1 %.

Relationship between personality factors and self- awareness
While working in competitive era it is very necessary for a person to be self- aware. The
reason pertaining to the fact is that in case a person is not self- aware then they will not be having
a good knowledge and information relating to recent changes. Hence, for a person to become
successful it is necessary that the personality of the person is good and effective and they are
efficient in self- awareness as well.
The personality factor or personality traits reflect the characteristic of a person that is
feeling, perception, thinking that how a person will deal with any situation. For the person to
become successful it is very crucial that they have a good personality so that they can grow and
make the business also develop. Thus, for this study of five different traits relating to personality
will be discussed in the present report. In addition to this, the discussion will take place that
whether these five personality trait has any impact over self-awareness or not. Further this report
will also outline that whether a person who is self- aware is in position to improve their
personality trait or not. The major five personality discussed within the report are neuroticism,
extraversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness (What are big 5 personality traits?
2021).
H0- There is not any significant relationship between personality factors and self- awareness.
H1- There is a relation being present among personality factor and self- awareness
The major reason behind selecting the present research topic is that the personality of a
person plays a crucial role in the development of them. The reason underlying this fact is that
when the personality of the person will be good then they will be able to improve themselves. In
addition to this, another reason for selecting this as the research topic is that it will also assist
other people in developing their personality with help of self- awareness.
Spinhoven and et.al., (2017) evaluated that fact that analysis of personality is very crucial
for the person and for their success. The reason underlying this fact is that when personality of
the person is not good then this will be affecting the level of self- awareness of the person. The
reason behind this fact is that when personality of person is not open then they will not be in
position to communicate with others. On the other hand, in case of person does not possess trait
of agreeableness then this will not be good for the person.
On the other side, Lawrence, Dunn and Weisfeld-Spolter (2018) argues that when the
person is self- aware then this will assist them in developing their personality. The reason behind

this fact is that when the person is self- aware then they know what is going on in the external
environment. Also, the self- awareness will assist in developing knowledge relating to latest
changes taking place within the development of skills. Hence, the self- awareness will assist the
person in developing all the latest skills and knowledge relating and trending within the external
environment.
Methods
For the research to be successful it is very essential that effective methods are being selected
by the researcher in order to complete the study in successful manner.
Participants
For the study to be successful it is very crucial that correct target or population is being
selected. This is particularly because of the reason that when the data is collected from relevant
participant then correct and true information will be gathered (Dishon and et.al., 2017). In the
present case of analysis of relationship between the personality factors and self- awareness, the
major target was of 2200 people. But out of this only 542 people were self rater that is who have
answered the questions. With the data it is clear that total was 434 females and 101 males and 3
people were under category of others.
Materials
The material is also very important for the effective completion and success of the
research. the reason underlying this fact is that when the proper and appropriate materials are
being used by the researcher then this will provide good and effective working. In the present
study the use of correlation matrix has been used. This is particularly used because of the reason
that it will provide the relation between both personality factor and the self- awareness.
Procedures
In order to prove the current hypothesis, the use of precise procedure is being followed by
the researcher. The reason pertaining to this fact is that when the procedure selected by the
researcher is not effective then this will not provide proper outcome (Ortet and et.al., 2017).
Hence, in the present case firstly, Cronbach alpha was calculated in order to identify the
reliability of data being used. This was helpful due to the reason that when the in case data
collected was not reliable then the whole research will become vague. After, analysing the
reliability of the data other test was applied in order to prove the hypothesis.

Results
Here in this section the results of the tools being applied are provided so that it can be identified
that whether the hypothesis is being proved correct or not.

the present table relating to descriptive analysis outlines the fact that total of 540
participants were selected and out of them average of 3.07 states that neuroticism is the
personality factor. On the other hand, 3.47 states that extraversion and 3.77 agrees with openness
as the personality. In against of this, 4.09 assents with agreeableness and 3.35 with
conscientiousness are the major personality trait being followed. But in against of this, for self-
awareness the average of 4.51 people agrees.

For the research to be successful the most essential aspect is that the data being collected
is authenticate and reliable. This is very crucial for the reason that in case the data will not be
reliable then this will not be providing proper and correct outcome and hypothesis will not be
proved. Thus, for this, analyzing the reliability of the data is very crucial and for this Cronbach
alpha is being used. With the analysis of this tool, it was evaluated that the all the variables were
having a good reliability. This simply means that the research based on this data will provide the
actual and correct output. Hence, this data will be assistive to the researcher in proving the
objective or the hypothesis of the study.

Correlation matrix
The current table, is related with the correlation between all the variables being present
in the table. With the analysis of the table it is clear that there is no relation between Big 5 self-
other agreement and self- awareness (Assessing self- awareness: Some issues and methods,
2021). This is particularly because of the reason that for proving the hypothesis the standard
criteria of p= 0.05 need to be proved. But in case of Big 5 self-other agreement and self-
awareness the correlation r value is 0.148 which is higher than standard of 0.05. thus, it can be
stated that there is not significant relation between the personality factor and self- awareness.
With further analysis, it was evaluated that Big 5 factor of extraversion is having strongest
correlation as compared to other factors that is 0.228 or 22.8 %.

The present study was based on analysing the relationship between big five personality

followed or exhibited by the person then as a result of this personality will be affected in
negative manner. As supported by Borghuis and et.al., (2017) it was witnessed that in case
person is more self- aware then they will be having good personality. This is because of the
reason that there are many changes being taking place within the external environment. Hence, it
is necessary for the person to undertake all these changes so that their personality enhances to a
great extent. Here the aim of the study is being fulfilled the relationship between personality
factor and self- awareness was evaluated and it was present in some factors and was not present
in some other factors.
On the other side, __ criticized the fact that for having a good personality it is essential
for person to have various qualities and personality traits. The reason underlying this fact is that
in case person will not be having good qualities and traits then it will result in person not having
effective knowledge and will not work in proper manner. Hence, for the effective working it is
necessary that proper personality factors are being inherited by people.
Further with the analysis of the data, it was viewed that there is weak correlation between
the big five personality traits and self- awareness. But in against of this many studies have
highlighted the fact that there is high requirement of self- awareness for developing the skills.
This is particularly due to the reason that without self- awareness a person cannot grow and
develop (Sacco and Brown, 2018). Moreover, it is very crucial as if the person is not having self-
awareness within them then they will not be in position to identify the recent changes being
taking place and how they will be adapting to the new personality traits. For a person to be
successful it is very crucial that they have a good personality. The major reason behind this fact
is that having a good personality will result in having a competitive advantage to the person (Do
people know what ther’re like in the moment? 2021).
Further the future implication of the study is that, it will be assistive to other researchers
as well that how they can effectively undertake the research. For example, when the researcher
will undertake the research on similar topic then the learning of this study will be very helpful.
Thus, this present study over the relationship between personality trait and self- awareness will
provide a good base to other researchers who are conducting similar studies. Further as
supported by Buecker and et.al., (2020) the use of personality trait is very helpful in order to
improve the working capabilities of the person. The reason pertaining to this fact is that when the
person tries to identify their personality traits then only they can develop themselves. Hence, this

will be assistive to the person as they will be in position to identify their strength and weakness
(Lodi-Smith and et.al., 2019).
On the other hand, the major weakness of the study was that the population was not
selected in proper and effective manner. The reason pertaining to this fact is that within the
population, majority of the people were females. Hence, the study outlined the generalised view
of females over males and others as well. from the total population 434 was females and only
101 were males and 3 belong the category of ‘others’. Hence, this was the major limitation of the
study as 80.7 % of the population was female and only 18.7 % was male. Hence, use of effective
sampling method could have improved the present study (Tomšik and Gatial, 2018). As a
recommendation for improving the study it is suggested to the researcher that before selecting
the sample they must analyse the demographic aspect of the sample. The reason pertaining to this
fact is that when the sample does not contain equal participant or participant having similar
characteristic then this will not be providing actual outcome. As a result of this the overall study
will not be successful and will not be providing the actual or relevant output.
CONCLUSION AND FUTURE DIRECTION
With the above study it is clear that self- awareness is very essential for the person as it
will assist in self- development. Also, self- awareness will assist the company in evaluating
oneself and improving their own learning. The above study highlighted that there is weaker
correlation between the two variables that is big five personalities and self- awareness.
The future direction for the research is to involve the use of other statistical tools as well
to improve the hypothesis testing. This is necessary as other statistical tools will provide a better
and effective overview of data and will result in good outcome.
