Introduction
The employability portfolio provides a brief description of work and experience
through employment achievements. It helps the graduates in recognizing their employability
skills and competency levels. The portfolio reflects the skills and abilities to achieve their
career goals effectively. The student must consider the role that the student can easily pursue
by applying their skills and knowledge in an effective work culture environment.
The employability portfolio will reflect on the graduate’s proficiency in performing
the role of Human Resource Assistant. This portfolio will focus on DOTs model and
effectiveness of these models for improvement in performance of the student. With the help
of personal development plan, the student is provided with guiding principles that aims to
achieve competency in graduate employability skills.
Summary of employability portfolio
The portfolio describes that the student have effectively pursued their Human
Resource degree and is qualified for the position of Human Resource Assistant. The student
has decided for an HR Assistant role to be suitable for fresher as HR graduates in
administration background. The role is suitable for the student as the student have experience
in corporate firm during studies.
The objective of an HR Assistant is to deliver the roles and functions that supports
HR administration. The advertisement of HR job reflects for effective responsibility,
administrating several levels of hierarchy and HR team. The role is to generate employement
letters for recruiting proficient candidates into the job role. The HR assistant checks for
health assurance before selection of the candidate and services of accommodation.

The interview of an HR professional was taken by the student for the purpose of
investigating the role of HR Assistant. The objective was to gain knowledge on the essentials
of role and the experience of interviewee. The interview will help the student to acknowledge
the working of an HR and the challenges that an HR faces in business.
DOTs model element
The DOTs model is a career development learning framework. It has four vital
components for career plan. The very first element is the self- awareness. The self- awareness
is the reflection of personal traits such as abilities, values, interests and skills.
To develop the self- awareness, the student investigates the experiences or work
activities they mostly enjoy to do. The strengths and issues faced in the role and the qualities
required for that specific job role needs a better understanding.
The student is required to investigate the level of proficiency for self- awareness from
the job application to applying for a job role, by the interview process. The application helps
with the opportunity to highlight the capabilities and values. It provides the employer with
understanding of self –awareness of the student.
In the employment application form, the student is required to detail in the cover letter
about the efficiency and competency for the role. It needs to describe how the firm benefits in
providing employment to students. The students exhibits to the employer, where the student
has reflected the role, their abilities and enables with the example to suit with the job role.

provides a clear understanding of motivational level and ability to manage self –reactions that
enables the student to determine the importance of employability. It guides them in taking
adequate decision making for effective career planning.
The Myers- Briggs also provides some disadvantage for self- awareness that over-
thinking is not a professional quality to deal with a situation. Over- thinking is important to

employability. It is determined that the capacity for self- reflection misrepresents some

student to reskill to achieve the proficiency level. The student develops a personal
development plan that helps the student to identify specific areas to develop and succeed in

are now able to present themselves in a professional manner and able to perform the roles of
HR. It enables to manage an effective personal development plan.
The student have developed a personal development plan that outlines some essential
SMART goals to undertake learning experiences. The learning experiences mainly enhances
the verbal and written skills to increase the confidence level in interview round.
Communication becomes effective with positive self- awareness aspects. The personal self-
awareness plan helps to understand that the communication is vital for the HR Assistant role.
The future employability and career development of students is essential to be
maintained as the students are responsible for their personal development plan. It is needed
