Running Head: CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN WALMART
The change that occurs in an organization can have both negative and positive impact on
the employees and the organization must see that the employees are comfortable with the change
that are being planted within the management of the organization. The employees that are
working for the company must have a suitable environment and policies to continue their
services in the company. The HR of the company who plays a very vital role in the company
must also be consulted before the formulation of any law. There can be many organizational
changes such as technological changes, strategic changes and policies changes. Walmart is a
huge retail company operating in Canada and the policies that the company adopts helps in
growing their business.
I am an employee of Walmart and I have been associated with this company for a decent
tenure, the company has adopted many changes over the years and all the changes have been
planted according to the changes that will benefit the business of the company also the
employees will experience a good work environment in the company. The changes that the
company has implemented are structural changes; these changes are done based on the
organizational structure, which can arise from external and internal factors and can affect the
company’s business and management, this changes mainly include the hierarchy, system of the
management, structure and allocation of the job and administrative policies. These factors can
make or break the structure and the business of any organization. I being an employee resisted
the changes that took place in the company. It has helped me in decrease my reluctance or
unwillingness towards my duties but it has helped me in acknowledging the duties that I perform
and it also improved my initiative of taking more responsibilities towards the company. The
structural changes has helped in building my self-esteem and develop confidence in me for
performing the complex duties that are being assigned to me.

Strategic changes are the changes for the overall purpose, mission and vision of the
company. This is mainly determined after observing the competition that is present among the
competitors belonging to the same industry. Walmart in this ensures that they target the proper
market, segment the customers, and cater them accordingly. This has somehow decreased the
work pressure as the customers are segmented according to their requirements and we get a brief
idea about approaching the customers and convince them for making the purchase. The strategic
changes helped me to understand the strategies that I should adopt to make the customers do
purchase from our company, which in a way enables me for incentives and other performance
appraisal rewards. The mission and the vision that has changed due to the intense competition in
the industry the enabled me to understand the various policies and protocol that are to be
followed in order to achieve both individual and organizational goals.
I being the HR of the company understood the changes have mostly affected the
employees of the organization as they been properly motivated and instructed to perform their
duties. The impact of these changes has turned out to be favorable for both the revenue and the
employees as they have successfully understood the effort that they need to exert and hence they
achieving the goals of the company. Positive change that has occurred amongst the employees
that they are providing positive productivity to the company. The negative change has also
occurred amongst the employees as they have started competing amongst themselves for
recognition of their performances and many other rewards, which is ruining the environment of
the company and the friendly and helpful nature is slowly fading away. The leadership teams
supported these changes so that the company can survive the competition that prevails in the
market and make the management of the company more powerful. Metric for structural strategy
is employee productivity, which has increased after the changes in the structure of the

Law 3/ 2009 stated that the companies could adopt the structural changes in order to
develop a proper and systematic business structure (Tolbert & Hall, 2015). This will help them to
maintain their existence in the industry and they can make the necessary changes whenever they
can feel like (Burke, 2017). The company can also change its strategy based on the competitive
market and the procedures should be adopted to understand the urge of those changes (Jones,
2013).
The force is occurring because the company wants to survive in the industry and carry
out a health business structure along with retaining its customers this force is completely external
as the changes in the company has occurred considering the external factors that can affect the
business (Bryce, 2017).

the management and the changes that the company adopts to survive in the industry. This also
stated that the companies must consider opinion and sufferings of the employees. Strategic and
