Career development is defined as the procedure of self knowledge, decision making and
exploration which give the correct shape to the career of an individual. The development of
career needs the correctly navigating the occupational options for selection and getting the
training related to jobs which are found as best as per the personality, skills and interest of
individual. An individual can easily get to know about their strength and weaker points while
paying the attention towards their career. Learning about the several roles and industries i9n
order to evaluate the abilities which also bring several opportunities for the individual. In order
to develop the career of an individual, it has been found as essential to develop the career plan as
the individual get to know about their knowledge and skills which are crucial in the process of
selecting the career in the specific field. Through the evaluation of CW 1, it has been analysed
that the chosen field for the development of carer is HR manager in retail industry. This field for
the development of career has been chosen on the basis of interest and skills of individual. This
report deals with the internal analysis of individual as per the vacancy of HR manager in the
Sainsbury company which is the second largest chain of supermarkets in United Kingdom
having headquarter in London, England, United Kingdom. This report also include the career

and dream of attaining the position of HR in the organisation of retail industry. Through the

the position of HR. Some of these skills are effective communication skills, organisation skills,
teamwork and collaboration skills, performance management skills, recruitment and selection

functions of HR manager in an effective and efficient manner. I also realised that I have several
skills which match the requirement of skills for the HR manager but also I do not have several
skills among them. The respective business organisation is looking for the experienced and
talented HR manager and I have already worked in the retail industry and I already worked as
HR in the retail industry. I have the skills of recruitment and selection which is found as the
crucial requirement in any HR manager as I have to hire the employees for the organisation.
Through the use of recruitment and selection skills, I can hire the right candidates with the right
skills for the right job position as it bring the effectiveness in the working performance of
business organisation. I am overall good in adopting the use of technology in the work. I know
how to use several software and technology which will help me in maintaining the employee
data,payrolls, performance evaluation and many more. I also have the experience of performance
management of employees through which I can analyse the need of training sessions for the
employees working in the business organisation which help in the enhancement of skills and
abilities of employees. Along with this, I am very well in coordinating with the employees which
state that I have skills of organising the tasks with employees. On the other hand, it has been
analyses that I do not have some skills which are also essential to have in the HR manager of
retail industry. Some of my weaker section of skills and abilities include communication,
teamwork and collaboration and cultural awareness. In order to perform the function of HR
manager, it is found as essential to have the above mentioned skills within me as these are also
important skills for gaining the position of HR manager in the retail industry.
