INTRODUCTION
Work based learning is strategy which is educational in nature which provides the
students with the real life experience regarding work where it can apply technical and academic
skills in order to develop its employability. It is commonly a series of the educational courses
which is integrated in the university or the school curriculum with a workplace in order to create
the different learning paradigm (Geden, 2020). It encompasses the diversity of the formal,
informal and the non formal arrangements. This report shall cover a document of the skill audit
with personal development plan. Further it will cover the skills and knowledge of the work role
with the short reflective on its progress.

In order to document a skill audit, it is necessary to have the personal SWOT analysis. It
is a tool which helps in identifying the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat so that with the
help of this skill audit can be done and a personal development can be produced (Nation, 2016).

I have been planning to undertake the job role of Human Resource Manager. This work
role requires a lot of patience and ability of management. I have the skills of communication and
time management which helps me in managing my work effectively and further it helps me in
communicating my words to the other. As I have been lacked in the skills of leadership and
decision making, it will be a hurdle in effectively undertaking this job role in my future career.
However, I have been planning to undergo the training session for acquiring this skill so that I
can enhance my productivity and get prepared for this role. Additionally I have the opportunity
to acquire the information and technology skill by undergoing a diploma course so that I can
learn this knowledge. Another opportunity which lies is problem solving skill which is very
necessary as a HR manager as the role of conflict solving is common for the HR. this skill is
required in everyday life of career which is essential to be developed. Moreover these skills in
which I lack and which I have acquired will help me in my work role but the threat which exist
in market may make me loose the work role which is competition and dynamic market. These

As the work role chosen is HR manager which is a prominent role in every industry or
the organisation. An HR manager has the most important function to perform which is to recruit
the efficient, skilled and talent workforce so that the company can achieve its goals and
objectives. The skills and knowledge required for the job role of HR manager is as follows-

Communication skills- As a HR manager, I have to communicate clearly both orally and
in written form with its workforce. The process of recruitment requires a lot of
communication as it entails series of interview. So the HR manager must possess this
skills so that it can deliver its information effectively. Further HR also has to
communicate the instructions so that work can be done as per the plan and effective
interactions motivate and increase the morale of the staff (Peters, 2019). Decision making skill- An HR manager has to take many decisions to which the most
initial one is involved in recruitment process. It is important to recognise the good talent
which requires experience, strategy and ability to take decision on the basis of the
intuition or experience. So I must have the decision making skill to become efficient HR
manager (Qin, Xu and Guo 2016).
Knowledge
Personnel and Human resource- This includes that the HR must have the knowledge to
recruit and select the efficient staff. It must have the knowledge of training, development,
motivation and many others so that it can retain the skilled staff and bring out the best
from them (Sobel and Finiasz 2020).
Administration and management- It includes the knowledge of principles of
management so that the resources can be allotted at the right place. It also involves
leadership technique in order to coordinate and manage the employees so that goals and
objectives of the company can be achieved (Shin and Bryant 2017)
