Principles of individual development in CERA
In the role play, five members have been included with me. As the director of the
company, I (kellie lincon) have decided to develop the effective plan so that the employee
development in my organization can be introduced. I have done the discussion with Quality
manager, human resource manager, operational manager and career consultant of my
organization regarding the individual development plan.
kellie lincon (Me): In case of employee development, I have decided to introduce the individual
development plan. I strongly believe that if goals and objective of the company will be clarified
to them, this can help to bring the change in their career graph. I have arranged this meeting so
that I can develop the effective individual development plan by understanding your opinion.
Human resource manager: I agree with your point, I also believe, with this initiative, we will be
able to develop the efficiency of our students that can help to increase organizational
productivity.
Quality manager: It is true that the individual development is needed, but an effective
performance matrix tool needs to be developed in the institution so that we will be able to
understand if our students are growing or not.
Career consultant: I do agree with your suggestions, however I believe, if the opportunities will
be provided to the employees outside of the job function, it can encourage them to understand
the aspects of the organizational work. With this initiative the participants will be able to take the
new responsibilities which can help to adjust them in diversified working culture. As per my
understanding, it will be beneficial for bringing the creativity in their performance.

Operational manager: As an operational manager of the company, it is my responsibility to
encourage the students towards improving their performance. In case of bringing the
development, I believe proper motivation is needed. In case of providing the motivation we can
give them constructive feedbacks that will help in terms of understanding the specific
recommendations in which we wants them to work. This will bring opportunities for us to guide
our students in right manner.
Human resource manager: May be you are right, but I feel some of the cases we need to give
them negative feedbacks, which can be demotivating for the students. In this situation, I believe,
if the feedbacks will be provided separately to each students, it can help to bring the professional
development.
kellie lincon (Me): Well I am quite impressed with the solutions you have provided, by adding
that I can say we need to work on removing out barriers regarding the organizational structure. I
strongly believe, if the organizational barriers can be solved, it can automatically increase the
performance standard.
Quality manager: I completely agree with your suggestion, I feel internal environment is an
important influential factor in individual development. Developing the effective leadership
practices, the organizational culture can be developed. In this case the transformational
leadership practice can be beneficial for understanding the needs of individuals. It will also
encourage the students to enjoy their learning by doing opportunities.
Career consultant: We can provide the students the links of professional network so that they can
grow. We can arrange different workshops in which the employees will get the chance to interact

with other professionals who will help them regarding the training course. In this process,
individuals will get the information and advice from the experts.
kellie lincon (Me): We can also create the networking events, that can help the employees to get
additional supports. This in initiative can bring both the personal and professional development
in the workplace.
Quality manager: I believe, individuals needs to be clarified regarding the investment of the
organization on their development plan. If the participants will be aware regarding the initiatives,
it can encourage towards achieving the returns. On the other hand, I believe, learning program
though online, training and effective coaching needed to be provided to the employees so that
they will be able to understand the strategies of individual development planning.
kellie lincon (Me): Ok! Then we will set an example to the participants as their role model so
that they can bring their behavioral changes in right manner. If the individuals will be inspired by
the role model, the development building activities can be done in effective manner. I believe,
with this initiative organizational culture as well as both the professional and personal attributes
can be improved. I believe, with this initiative, we will be able to successfully introduce
individual development in the workplace.
