organization. In every organization human resource management department is the

the people are the main functions that the HR department mainly concern about when
come to achieving the organizational goals. In every organization well defined
recruitment process is most important. Which can be executed effectively to get the best
fit for the vacant position. Selecting wrong candidate or rejecting the right candidate
could turn out to be costly mistake for the organization.
In this report, I selected Sri Lankan leading organization in logistic sector to
analyze the HR issues that they are currently facing with. Further in this report I gave

Introduction
Considering an organization, HR department giving a huge contribution to the
organization by managing the human resource in every department. They are the one who
involving in every human resource activity in each and every department. The

the HR department. If this department fail in decision making of the employee, it will
affect with achieving the goals of the organization also. Therefore, managing the human
resource in a best way give a highly efficient and effectiveness to the organization as well
as it affects with achieving the long-term goals. mainly HR department basically trying to
improve the performance of employees, employee satisfaction, reduce the conflict among
employees and to get a better solution to the turnover of the employees.

their problems and what are the solutions that can come up as a students who learns the

Background of the organization
Hayleys PLC is a well reputed company in Sri Lanka. They span their businesses
throughout 17 countries with use of 16 sectors. Eco solution, hand production,
purification, textile manufacturing, agriculture, plantation are some of the sectors that the
Hayleys group involving. Hayleys group is the one of strongest and successful enterprise
that is active in local as well as in the global market. They expand their business in
different sectors such as they are one of the parties with marketing operation in India,
Australia, japan, UK, USA. As well as they having manufacturing facilities in Thailand
and Indonesia. Currently they provide more than 36000 employment opportunities with
in the country as well as in the world. Hayleys group is always capable with adding value
to the peoples that who are work with their company. Logiwiz Ltd is a main part of
Hayleys group. As everyone knows Advantis Logiwiz Ltd is a one of largest company in
logistic sector in Sri Lanka.
With an experience of more than an era Advantis Logiwiz stablished their
position as a Third party Logistic (3PL) operator in region, through the dominance
established in Sri Lanka and several other countries such as India and Myanmar. They
serve customers from different ventures over the district, through deliberately found
present day warehousing framework and a broad transportation arrange. Drawing quality
from their kin, procedures and frameworks, we use seat stamped advances, so as to
accomplish administration greatness for our esteemed colleagues. The organization's

Hayleys group involve with more than 16 sectors within 17 countries. For all of
these operations the most significant resource is labor. And also, we can say that the labor
is the most difficult resource that we have to handle when we run an organization.
Hayleys have more than 36000 employees to handle. So, they are upcoming with
different HR problems time to time. When considering Advantis Logiwiz Ltd HR
problems we can categorize those problems in to
1. High labor turnover
2. Current performance system is not up to the expected level
3. Delays in recruitment
4. Gaps in identifying right candidate to the right job with right
qualification, right attitude and right experience
5. No proper employee progression plan for employees
6. None availability of proper training need analysis (TNA)
When considering those issues, we can figure out the main reasons for those
issues. In many sectors, the most of employees are women. They give a high contribution
to the company as well as it is help with reducing the unemployment rate of the country.
Every person has a unique skills and abilities. We can say that in a company also every
employee has unique skills and abilities. So, if the company can figure out those skills
and their abilities in right time to apply in right place company can have more benefits
from those employees. From now on I like to analyze the gaps in identifying right
candidate to the right job with right qualification, right attitude and right experience.
Figure out the right candidate is one of the most important part in a HR process.
Because it will affect the company in different ways. It can be benefited to the company
as well as it occurs many problems also. When considering the Advantis Logiwiz Ltd,
they are trying to the get the best effort from the employees to success the business.
Therefore, they should find the best person to the right job. There are some methods for
select the best candidate for the right job. Recruitment process done the huge part of
selecting the candidate. General recruitment doesn’t applicable for all the selecting
applicant. Recruitment process should be different, based on the job that the person has to

face in future. In a company, recruitment process should get a huge attention when come
to the company activities. Because it affects to the goals of the company as well as the
reputation of the company. When consider the Advantis Logiwiz Ltd there is a
recruitment process that they are currently use for the recruitment of the company job
requirements. HR department choose the suitable candidates according to the requirement
regarding to the vacant job from the sections. They firstly collect the CVs of the
candidates and they send those CV to the appropriate section to figure out the most
suitable candidates for the further selection. At the next selection round, they are calling
for an interview. After the interviews the select some candidates for aptitude test
regarding common basis. Finally, they choose candidates from the aptitude test for the
final interview. After those procedure has done, they choose best candidates for the
vacant job role in the company. That is the normal process that they are currently doing
as the recruitment process.
Recruitment process can be a problem when,
They select the candidates only considering the qualifications of that person
This can be a major problem if they only consider the qualification of the
candidate. The candidate should have some kind of job experience
regarding to the vacant job. Because this is a company mainly based on
supply chain management and logistics. Therefore, without having an
experience company as well as the employee will face to many
difficulties.
Not selecting the candidate for the required vacant
If the candidate selected to the unknown job, the candidates create an
uncertainty for the business because the candidate doesn’t have any
knowledge or an experience about the job. And also, company have to
train those candidates and it will increase the cost as well.
Not figure outing the best skills of the candidates before assign for the job
If the selected candidate is a one who is good in another sector than the
required sector. It can be a problem as well as it is a missing a best
resource person to the company with assigning to another section.

Only considering the CV details than considering the actual qualifications and
other things
If the candidate applies for the vacant job with adding additional
qualifications that the candidate never had. And selected to the job that
without having any qualification will gives a huge impact to the company.
It will be missing a qualified person for the job opportunity as well as it
will show the weakness of the recruitment process of the company.
Because of this kind of problems, it can be affects to the selecting most suitable candidate

We can come up with some reasons for the gap between selecting right candidate to the
right job at the Advantis Logiwiz Ltd
1. High workload of HR department
At the Hayleys Logiwiz, HR department done huge role. They
involving in every part of the work. And they have to manage with
the collecting applications and examine to select the best CV also.
They choose the most appropriate CVs to the call interview.
Sometimes they miss to call for the interviews at right times and
some candidates miss the opportunity because of the delay of the
HR department.
2. Not done a selection test for the candidates for specific job role.
After the interview they having an aptitude test regarding common
areas. But they are not interested to do practical test for the
selected applicants. without having a practical examination is one
of a main reason for these gaps of right candidate. Logiwiz Ltd is a
mainly focus on supply chain. And in the supply chain
transportation has a big role. For that there should be more skilled
people to handle the work to done. HR department not having

those selection test and then pass those pass applicants for the final
interview after the common aptitude test.
3. Selecting from the internal source of candidates without having a
performance competency for the specific job role.
Most of the internal candidates are selected base of the work year
experience and the knowledge of the environment of the company.
But it won’t be qualified to perform a task. There should be a
proper way of measuring the training, ability and skills of an
internal candidates for the specific job role.
4. Selecting candidates without having an initial screening.
For Advantis Logiwiz Ltd punctuality is a most important aspect.
Because they have to run their business on time. If the employee
late to the work it gives a bad impact for the working process. The
main reason of the employee lateness is the distance for the work
place. Without checking the personal details of the employee, it
will be a problem for achieving the targets daily basis.
5. High volume of break-down
As a leading company in logistic sector there should be experts in
handling machines and other equipment. Without having a better
knowledge to handle those machines arise a cost for replacement
as well as it gives a bad impact to the production process also.
Time vesting, because of the machine break-down can be occur.

Advantis Logiwiz Ltd having some solutions for reduce those gaps in between
identifying right candidates for the right job with right qualification, right attitude and
right experience. There are two main solutions that they currently come up to solve this
problem.
Employee re-deployment
HRM department had come up with a re- deployment opportunity to the
candidates that who currently work at different departments. They can
change their current job role if they think that they can give a more
contribution to the company not working with this department and with
having those skills and abilities they have a chance to change their job role
what they are interested and can capable with giving the best effort to the
company. And it helps to reduce the gap also. As they mention it help to
increase the efficiency of the work flow also. Because the candidates
choose the job regarding to their skills. But the main disadvantage is there
can be a shortage of some job roles within the company because of this
kind of re- deployment process. And those vacant jobs are more important
job roles that immediately should be filled. For that reason, the HRM
department has to take an immediate and a good decision for fill those job
vacancies. Therefore, they have to spend extra money as well as time for
special recruitment. And also, sometimes HRM, miss some opportunities
when recruiting the best candidates because of the hurry.
Offering voluntary retirement scheme
As a solution they prefer a voluntary retirement scheme for the employees
of the company. Employee can leave the company if they think that this is
not a better way of giving contribution to the industry. From that kind of a
solution they trying to reduce the problems that they are currently facing.
Before face for an unnecessary problem the employee can leave the job.
