department in the workplace is because they help in maintaining the coordination between the
people and motivate the employees in achieving the aims(Kim and Ishikawa, 2020). They satisfy
the needs of the staff and id any conflict is developed between the employees then they help in
solving that issue. The human resource department is immense and the owner of the Carnivore
restaurant who wants to expand the business will also require the employees who will do the
management. Thus, the HR department provides the best employee to the organisation and works
for their compensation and benefits which are also to be taken care by the Hr department of the
organisation. The Carnivore restaurant has to work in variety of ways to employ the best team as
the employment of the people also affects the work culture.
Functions of HRM-
Human resource planning- The main work which the Human resource department has
to perform is to identify the requirements of the employees which will be needed.
Carnivore restaurant Hr manager has to perform this activity to identify and recruit the
right people.
Recruitment and selection- The other function is the recruitment which is to be done by
the Hr department to recruit the right and the best people for the restaurant. Selection
means to select the best out of those who are suitable for the organisation which the HR
department of the restaurant has to work (Latemore, 2019).

skills and knowledge for achieving the goals of the restaurant. They have to conduct the
interview in which they indentify that whether the person is capable to be selected or not which
has to be done by the restaurant HR manager.
P2 Strengths and weakness of recruitment and selection
The approaches which are used by other organisation for the process of recruitment and
selection is similar which will be done by the Carnivore restaurant(Nguyen, Kecskés and Mansi,
2020). The approaches which are used by for examples – Casamia, The Fat Duck have been
discussed below-
Recruitment-
Recruitment is the process of finding out the best person with the process of identifying,
selecting and doing the interview of the person who have the required skills and knowledge.
Approaches of recruitment-
Internal recruitment-
Recruiting former employees- The most common and time saving process in which the
former employee is placed on the vacant job according to the job role. This is the most
cost effective method and most of the organisation performs this process.
Strengths
The main strength is they already know about the job role and responsibility and this also
helps in saving the time which the whole process of recruitment takes (Brockman, Luo and Xu,
2020). It is also cost effective because the process of recruitment which includes the
identification, training makes it very costly.
Weakness
The former employee who has been selected in the organisation might ask for higher
salary. When the employee will join the organisation then some rules might have been changed
which has to be discussed with by the HR department. Advertisements- It means to provide the job specification on the advertisements channels
which includes the newspaper, online channels, organisation website and many more.
Strengths
It helps to reach to the target audience easily and requires less time as consider doing it on their
own. The job seekers who want to get the job can easily check on it as it covers all the points
form job role to job description.
4
Document Page
Weakness
The main weakness is that it might be costly for the organisation to display the
advertisement on different channels and it might be difficult to identify whether it is effective or
not.
Approaches of Selection-
Selection is the process of selecting the best and the qualified person for the job role who will be
able to provide the best results.
Interview- The most common and used process in which the interviewer take the
interview from the interviewee which involves some questions(Emeagwal and
Ogbonmwan, 2018). With such method the interviewer gets to know more about the
person and considering that the person is selected.
Strengths
The main strength in this process is that the organisation gets the suitable most suitable
employee which is having the skills which are required for that particular job role. It also helps in
maintaining the relationship with the person and helps in collecting the primary information
about the individual.
Weakness
Conducting interview is considered to be the incomplete process in which it is not a
surety that the interviewer will get the whole information about the person. Also, taking
interview is considered to be the most time consuming and costly process.
Ability tests- The most effective way in which it provides the information as how the
person will be able to handle the job role and perform its duties (Gong and et. al., 2018).
Strengths
It helps to focus on the skills which the person is having and the person objectively. It
also provides the information regarding the need of training to the person.
Weakness
It does not cosier the soft skills of the person and the personality traits which the person
must have acquired and will be useful for the job role.
M2 Assess strengths and weakness of recruitment and selection
The selection is the method of selecting the best person for the job role and recruitment is
the process of attracting the best from the pool of many persons(Brandén, Bygren and Gähler,
5

2018). The strength and weakness of recruitment and selection is that both process helps in
selecting the best employee for the job role and helps in meeting the objectives successfully. But
what lacks is that these both process are time consuming and is also costly which might create
burden to the organisation.
D1 With the help of examples, evaluate the strengths and weakness
The strengths and weakness of the approaches used above is that with the positive points
these approaches also has the negative points which cannot be neglected easily. The main
approaches which are used in selection is the interview and ability tests which helps in
evaluating the person. on the other hand, recruitment involve the promotion and the
advertisement.
TASK 2
P3 Benefits of different HRM practices
Some benefits of different HRM practices have been discussed below in context with Carnivore
Restaurant-
Management of conflicts- Conflicts are the common problem which is faced by every
organisation. It can also happen in Carnivore restaurant when the employees are facing
any issue and that resulted in conflict. The HR practice helps in resolving this issue which
is useful for the development of positive culture.
Benefit to employee- Conflicts is the rise of unhealthy relationship which no employee wants to
make it with other. Thus, when the HR department of Carnivore restaurant will manage all the
issues effectively then the bond will be developed between the employees.
Benefit to employer- For the employer the effective management of conflict will help in bringing
more productivity in the work and will also increase the level of motivation. Conflict give rise to
negativity in the workplace which the Carnivore restaurant does not wants.
Development of good and healthy relations- Development of good relation in the
workplace is very important because no employee would like to work in that place where

Benefit to employee- No individual would like to just come at the workplace and do their work
without interacting with the fellow employees. Such culture could not be able to produce good
and effective results for the organisation (Gould, Kulik and Sardeshmukh, 2018) . Carnivore
restaurant wants that except work there must be good development of relations which will be
helpful for the work environment and also for the restaurant.
Benefit to employer- The employer would like to have such kind of atmosphere in the restaurant
because it has been seen that the best results are provided in that place where the bond between
the employee and the employer is flexible and friendly. The main aim of employer is that they
want the employee to work hard and achieve the objectives of the organisation. In the Carnivore
Restaurant the relations and the development of bond between the employee and employee, and
employee and employer is good.
Training and development- The other practice of the HR department is to train and
develop the new and selected people for the organisation. The new employees who are
selected will require some training as they might be having the skill for the job role but
how they have to use the information and knowledge will be provided in training and
with only they would be developed.
Benefits to employer- The employer will be benefitted because after training they would be
having the knowledge and how they have to carry down their work. They would be able to
perform the activity effectively and this will help in meeting the objectives of the Carnivore
restaurant.
Benefits to employee- Employees will also be benefitted as they don’t have to ask for the things
which they are not having any information as all this will be provided to them in the training
sessions.
M3 Methods used in HRM practices with the help of examples
There are different approaches which are used in the organisations for the HRM practices
and it involves providing the security to employees. The security and healthy atmosphere is the
duty of HR department to provide it in the organizations(Nadeem and de Luque, 2020). The
Hand and Flowers restaurant in UK takes the help of good HR practices for the success of the
restaurant. They always try to provide training to their employees for the different job role so
they become productive in their job role. Carnivore restaurant has planned to expand its business
wants that the HR manager should follow the best practice for retaining the employees.

P4 How effective HRM practices are for profit and productivity
The human resource management is the most important department in very organisation and
their main aim is to provide the best employees to the organisation show will help in achieving
the objectives (Chenoweth and et. al., 2018). They are the ones who helps in proper planning of
the employees and with use of systematic and scientific process they supply the best employees.
Employees are the assets for the organisations and if this work is not done well it can hamper the
success and productivity of the organisation. Carnivore restaurant also wants that the most
talented and skilled people are employed which can help in more expansion and bringing
productivity in the restaurant. Some of the practices have been discussed below which helps in
bringing profits and productivity in the organisation-
Employee engagement- One of the most difficult task which is performed by the Hr
department of the organisation is the employee engagement. Employee engagement
means that the employees are satisfied with their job role and are motivated to perform
the tasks which will help in achieving the goals(Ferguson, 2018) . Hr department always
tries to apply the best strategy which will help in retention of the employees and will
develop the best work culture. Carnivore restaurant wants that the timely appreciation
and recognition will be provided to their workforce so they feel motivated and good
about the restaurant policy and work hard work for the success.
Recruitment and training- It is a well known fact that without people the organisation
cannot its functions and to employ the best people out of many the Hr department has
been given the responsibility(Chen and et. al., 2018). The recruitment means that the HR
department has to identify the best people and for this they have to attract the right and
talented people for the organisations. Carnivore restaurant wants that the employees must
be selected who are having the potential to do the best for the restaurant. When the
people are selected for the specific job role then some training has to be provided to make
them learn about the things which they have to perform in their position. This work is
also done by the HR department to make them learn about the new things.
Conflict resolution- Conflicts are resulted in negative work culture, no development of
good relations in the work place and many more. In the organisation there are different
people who are working who have different thoughts and work style nature and in such

environment it is obvious that the conflict will occur. For such things the HR department
has been given the major role to solve the issues which are faced by the employees or
might be between the employer and the employee (Benjankar and et. al., 2020). This is
because the HR department knows about everything and they are trained to solve the
issues which are faced by people. Carnivore restaurant have made the HR manager to
help the employees in solving the issues so that such problem does not affects the work
environment.
D2 Application of HRM practices in the restaurant and use some examples
The HRM practices are applied and used in the whole organisation as they have the main
role of managing the employees and their behaviour (Li and et. al., 2020). The use of HRM
practices in the Carnivore restaurant can be made in variety of places as the owner wants to
make the expansion of the business in other locations also and for that the main task which has to
be done by the manager is to recruit the right people and in right number. Then, afterwards they
have to provide them the training course so that can learn about the things which they have to
apply it in their job role.
TASK 3
P5 Importance of employee relation in decision making
Maintaining and developing healthy relations among employees is the best way by which
organisations can achieve success and growth in their field(Atia and et. al., 2021). Carnivore
restaurant also wants that employees relations must be maintained in the restaurant because if the
relation will not be maintained then the work will not be done at time because of lack of
coordination. The importance of employee relations influences the decision making of HR
department in following ways-
Every employee in the organisation wants that they are treated equally and fair and no
partiality is done with them. For that the strategy which has to be adopted by the Hr
manager is that they must recognise the employees who are doing well and provide them
the benefits without any partiality.
For decreasing the level of conflicts in the workplace it is important to maintain
employee relations which have to be done by HR department. The HR manager has to

change the make the decisions which involves good, positive and friendly work culture as
this reduces the extent of conflicts.
P6 Key elements of employment legislation
Employment legislations are concerned with laws and regulations which govern the relationship
of employer and employee within an organisation along with trade unions. Being a HR manager
or employer it is essential to have a good knowledge about employment laws and regulations
which works well for the well being and protection of employees. Failing to abide by and non
compliance of these regulations in UK may allow staff to raise their voice in employment
tribunal and company may be entitled to pay a heavy fines and penalties (Zhang, 2020).
Employment laws cover wide range of issue which aims to prevent the rights of employees and
foster transparency in working culture such as age discrimination, equal pay, minimum wages,
discrimination based on age, religion, sexuality etc.
National Minimum wage act, 1998: This act allows employees to charge minimum and
standards wages for their efforts as per the standards of market and economic conditions.
Equality Act, 2010: This act encourage the culture of equality at workplace enabling
employees to get equal opportunities and growth regardless of any discrimination factor
such as age, sexuality, religion, culture etc.
Health and Safety Act, 1974: As per this act, employers must provide fair and healthy
working conditions while working so that employees feel secure and safe at in an
organisation and are engaged towards 100% productivity(Mehran, 2021).
These laws impacts on the decision making as they have to design and develop a safe and
healthy workplace in an organisation to ensure safety and injury free working practices. HR
managers need to provide safety guidelines to the employees along with training to deal with any
accident or injury at workplace. Apart from that while hiring and selecting a candidate it must
kept in mind that employers and employees respect the culture and tradition of other employee
and is not being judged on any discrimination factor.
M4 Assess employee relation and legislation affecting HRM decision making
The employee relation influences the decision making of the HR are directly linked with one
another (Aleo and et. al., 2019). Every owner of the organisation wants that the relations between
the employees are made in a positive way so that they can bond together and that will help also

help in achieving the objectives. On the other hand, the legislations which are being made by the
government needs to be considered by the HR manager as it contains the safety, good work
environment and other benefits which has to be provided by the organisations. Carnivore
