use their knowledge and abilities for accomplishing business related goals. The report will be
discussed in the context of Hotel Hilton which a multinational hospitality firm, serving best
facilities to their customer for gaining their satisfaction and providing comfort. The purpose of
HRM practices in the Hotel is to use most efficient approaches to select the required candidates
for the job role of HR executive and Front Office Assistant in Hilton. The significance of
employment legislations in attaining business success will also be discussed.

Definition of HRM
Human resource management is an important function of any firm as it considers the employees
of the firm as the most essential asset and provides them appropriate training, compensation,
rewards, motivation and other benefits so that their job performance can be improved and Hilton
can attain the profits and growth (Jamali et.al, 2015).
Purpose of HRM
Productivity enhancement: the main purpose and objective of HRM in Hilton are to manage the
employees and their work so that the business can attain more productivity and efficiency.
Training and development activities implemented in the firm can increase the employee’s
motivation for increasing their efforts and performance.
HR Resources utilization: HRM function in Hilton is important because it manages the optimum
and effective utilization of their resources as per their skills and knowledge. The tasks in the firm
are assigned according the requirement of the jobs to the staff.
Maintaining discipline and harmony: Hilton Hotel adopts various practices and policies in their
firm to maintain peace, harmony and discipline within the employees. Team collaboration can be
improved by providing effective communication and cooperation between the groups (Fantetti
et.al, 2016).
Accomplishing business goals: HRM function formulates various plans and strategies in the
firm for attaining business goals and objectives. The tasks related to business objectives are

Functions of HRM

The firm can select the various approaches to recruitment like internal and external recruitment
methods for selecting the best-suited candidate for their job positions. The internal methods of
recruitment include recruiting the candidate through reference and recommendations of existing
employees, by promotions and transfers of employees, etc. These approaches save the time and
cost of Hilton. On the other hand, the most effective way to select more skilled and talented
employees is through external sources and methods of recruitment like job portals, online sites,
recruitment agencies, press advertisements, educational institutions, conducting various
recruitment events, etc. Creativity and innovative ideas can be gained by such approaches (Bibb,
2016).
Selection approaches
After conducting the recruitment process, the selection of a suitable candidate in Hilton takes
places. Selection criteria are pre-decided by the HR department so that the approaches can be
