Introduction
This paper focuses on the introduction of human resource within the organization. This is a
reflective paper that elaborates the opinion of human resource management practices that are
undertaken in an organization. The paper explains the application of human resource within the
workplace. In addition to this, key demographics and employee concerns are also discussed in
the paper. The topic ‘Introduction to Human Resource Management’ includes human resource
skills which are essential for the organization.
In case of my work experience, I was working in a paid organization as an HR assistant.
Working in the organization, I gained a positive experience in my job role. I learned practical
knowledge about Human Resource Practices which are essential to apply in the organization. In
my job role, I was responsible for the recruitment database. In addition to this, I worked with the
designation member in the human resource department and observed, learned and analyzed the
activities and responsibilities of human resource.
Human resource management
Human resource management can be described as the process of selecting, recruiting, inducting
and providing orientation to employees conducting training and development, deciding
compensation and providing benefits and maintaining proper relations with the employees. In the
organization, I can say that the human resource department manages all the aspects of employees
and many other functions job analysis, human resource planning, and recruitment and job
interviews. In terms of reinforcing ideas, some of the new ideas are reinforced related to human
resource management, i.e. human resource is the essential practice to manage the employees

within the organization by implementing various policies and tactics (Yaseen, 2017, pp. 2, 5-7).
At the initial level, I had the perception that human resource is all about recruitment and
selection. Now I have an opinion that human resource includes various functions like job
planning and analysis, payroll, induction, training and development session and maintaining
relations with employees (Veth & Korzilius, 2017, pp. 1, 1).
Application to the workplace
There are some of the practices and processes which are included in the human resource
responsibilities. Human resource is concerned about managing the employees and implementing
HR policies in their favor. Some of the practices and processes included in the responsibilities of
human resource are as follows:
Recruitment and selection- This is the process of screening and selection of qualified and
potential candidates for a specific job. The objective of this process is to attract qualified
applicants for job roles.
Maintaining working conditions- The responsibility of human resource in the organization is to
maintain good working conditions. It is the key duty of human resource managers to motivate
and empower employees to achieve their goals and objectives.
Managing employee relations- It is the key responsibility of the human resource manager to
manage positive employee relations to increase the work output.
Training and development- This is an effective process to enhance the knowledge and skills of
the employees so that they can achieve the goals and objectives of the organization.

As an employee, I can say that human resource practices have a significant impact on my work
role within the organization. I am able to understand the key concepts and working practices of
human resource. Human resource practices are helpful for me in maintaining effective relations
with others in the workplace (O’RIORDAN, 2017, pp. 7-8, 2-3).
Key demographic and employee concerns
In the organization, four issues that may arise in the workforce due to demographic and
employee concern are the aging population, globalised workforce, the surge in female
employment and generation Y in the organization. Being an employee, I have also experienced
these issues in the organization as an aging population and globalised workforce sometimes
create hurdles in achieving the business goals and objectives. Aging employees in the
organization do not get opportunities for growth and career. In my opinion, the human resource
department is required to implement new HR policies to deal with these concerns. Unique HRM
strategies are required to be implemented to meet challenges related to demographics.
Reasonable accommodation
In an organization, reasonable accommodation can be described as the adjustment and changes in
the job and work environment of employees with a disability to participate in the application
process or to perform important job function. In the job role, reasonable accommodation is
helpful for the employees to enhance their skills and knowledge and show their potential in the
new work environment. In job restructuring, the employees may get various benefits in monetary
terms and job relocation. They also get job training for enhancing the skills and knowledge in
achieving the objectives.

Conclusion
Based on the analysis, it is observed that the human resource department manages all the aspects
