INTRODUCTION
Cultural diversity is an aspect which is helpful for analysing the effect of discrimination
on employees. It is important for the business organisations to manage the work effectively and
provide positive environment for employees to work (Akinnusi, Sonubi, and Oyewunmi, 2017).
The human resource department of the company has responsibility for managing employee
performance and employee engagement. The project report is based on a company that is Tesco
plc. This is a supermarket that provides vital range of products and services. Its headquarter is at
Welwy garden city, United Kingdom. The below mentioned project report consists detailed
information about aims and objectives and for better understanding Gantt chart and work break
down structure is also created. In addition, various techniques used to gather knowledge and
perform analysis are also discussed.
Aim and objectives
Research Aim:
"To determine the role of Human Resource Management practices in promoting cultural
diversity at workplace" A case study on TESCO PLC
Research Objectives:
To develop an understanding of the concept of cultural diversity.
To determine several benefits that TESCO PLC get by incorporating effective Human
Resource Management practices.
To ascertain the relation between effective Human Resource Management practices and
management of cultural diversity within TESCO PLC.

Cultural diversity
According to views of ANJORIN, and Jansari, (2018), there are people who come from
different culture and background who work within companies. It is essential for the organisation
to maintain effective services to individuals so that they can work within the company in
effective manner. Cultural diversity is known as the working of various employees together who
belong to various race, gender, culture, etc. the different positive impact of cultural diversity at
workplace are increase in the social interaction of employees. Different people coming form
different background and working together is helpful for managing the work properly and
increasing social relation of individuals. Within organisations, there are different type of teams
developed who have to work together for attaining goals. It is important for the company to
manage the teams in effective manner as they work together for attaining organisational goals.
Providing positive environment to employees ad staff is helpful for managing work properly and
increasing employee engagement.
Several benefits that TESCO PLC get by incorporating effective Human Resource Management
practices
According to Roh, and Kim, (2016), it is essential for management of Tesco that there are plans
for developing perfect strategies and making several benefits for the company. Tesco is an
organisation which is operating in different parts of the world. It is important for this company to
develop competitive advancement strategies for managing working and performance of
employees. It is important to attain organisational goals and objectives. It is properly managed by
creating cultural practices at workplace. Moreover, it is beneficial that Tesco is having proper
execution of human resource department in establishing practices associated with cultural
diversity. The satisfaction level of employees and management of employees is achieved by
increasing the promotion of cultural diversity. The HR manager of tesco has to develop strategies
ad plans that are helpful for promoting the culturing diversity practices at workplace. These are
helpful for managing the work in effective manner and creating positive image in market.

According to view points of Lakshmi, (2019), it is concluded that any organization requires to
have cultural diversity practices as it is helpful in managing the work in proper manner and
attaining the goals in specified time. There are people who come from different culture and belief
in the company. It is the duty and responsibility of the HR management of Tesco to provide
effective services to the employees so that they will work for the company in proper manner.
There are several HR practices within the company like record keeping, recruiting of employees,
providing incentives for employee motivation and with all these a major issue that HR manager
has to work upon is managing the cultural diversity. This is helpful for the management of the
company that they know what are the effective measures that HR department can take for
managing the cultural diversity at workplace. It is essential that all the work for the company is
important for managing the contribution of the organization for managing work. There are equal
opportunities provided to the employees in Tesco so that they are able to manage the work
properly and attain their assigned targets in effective manner. There must be presence of
effective human resource practices such as in terms of providing equal opportunities of growth to
every individual, no discriminatory policies and there is equality then all these practices lead to
the effective management of cultural diversity in Tesco.
Project management plan:
A Project management plan is known as strategy for making a proper management in order
to accomplish the project or research. There are various factors and elements that are involved in
completing the research work. Some of the factors are mentioned below –
Cost: Business and all companies need to have proper amount of budget and money for
completing the project work properly. There is a total amount of 40000 required for
Tesco to conduct a research for maintaining human resource department to maintain
cultural diversity effectively.

Scope: This is known as identification of managing the future aspects of doing project.
The scope for doing this project work is helpful for managing the benefits that are for
Tesco in maintaining proper management of employees so that they are discriminated at
workplace. The HR department of Tesco is conducting the research for knowing what are
the factors for preventing employee discrimination.
Time: It is also an important factor management plan (Bell, Bryman, and Harley, 2018). This is
involved in managing of time taken for completing a research. This is associated with the
duration in which the research project will be completed. There are various regulations and
policies developed for managing the research in Tesco properly. The managers of Tesco requires
six months.
Communication tool: The communication skill is an essential factor or element that is
helpful for managing the project work. It is helpful for managing the project activities in
proper manner. There are different ways of managing the research activities like social
media, whatsapp, email, etc. It will be easy for researcher to contact with his team
members while conducting the research.
Quality: It is very important for mangers to maintain the quality of product and service
of the project. There are various tools and techniques for managing the research work in
proper manner. It is concluded that quality work is needed by the managers for doing
projects and researches in Tesco for getting accurate results.
Risk: Analysis of risk is also necessary for manger they need to identify risk factors and
implement policies for overcome causes of risk factor. The data used in the research is

The research methodology is defined as the type of investigation for managing the work
of research and investigation in effective manner. The investigator is using various methods for
completing the research. It is ensured by the investigator that the information is authentic and

Research approach- Research approach is known as the plan for working properly and
managing the research work in effective manner. There are two type of approaches used by the
researcher for managing projects and these are inductive and deductive (Ghauri, Grønhaug, and
Strange, R 2020). With reference to the present research, an inductive form of research will be
adopted by the researcher as will support them in obtaining research outcome in a qualitative
manner.
There are various ways of collecting data for obtaining results of the organisation. There
are basically two types of approaches used by investigators for obtaining data for research. These
are mentioned below -
Primary research: Primary research is the first hand information and it is used by the
researcher for getting the results of the research. The different ways for collecting information
about the research are questionnaire, interview, observations, surveys, etc.
Secondary research: It is the information taken from already existing data such as articles,
newspaper, journals, magazines, online sites, websites, etc. The present researcher has used both
primary as well as secondary data for completing the research (Hennink, Hutter, and Bailey,
2020). The secondary method used for collecting data are books, newspaper, journals and online
articles all these elements are considered.
Qualitative and quantitative research: This is the research method in which collection
of data is evaluated through numeric calculations. On the other hand, Qualitative method is
known as the method in which open ended questions are asked from the respondents
There are 30 respondents taken for completing this research. The respondents are customers

Reflection
While doing the project, it was very difficult for me to achieve the aims and objectives of
the research. It is essential that all the work is done in proper manner and there are no problems
in research results. I have developed my research skills and management skills while doing this
project in proper manner. This is helpful for me to enhance the performance and working of me
in completing the research work. It is essential for me to complete the project work properly and
managing the work effectively. While taking interviews of different respondents, I have
developed my interpersonal skills. I am now able to handle and manage things properly and now
I am able to do the research work effectively. It is important for me to conduct a good research
so that it will help me to provide good results to others. This is helpful in managing the work in
effective manner and attain the goals. I am a positive person and there were many challenges that
I have to face while conducting the research. It is good for me to develop skills that will help to
manage the work. From completing this project, I am able to know more about cultural diversity

at workplace. While conducting this research, I got to know about various research methods that
can be used for conducting the research. I have used qualitative as well as quantitative research
methodologies. I have conducted survey which is used for interpreting the results of my research
work. I have put lot of efforts for managing the conduction of the results. It is important for
managing the work of the research in effective manner. I have used the research approach of
positivism for managing the work of the research. Alternate research methods – I think the time
given for completing the research was less. If I would be having more time, I have taken the
sample survey of approximately 100 respondents. This would have given more effective results.
CONCLUSION
From the research above research, it is concluded that cultural diversity is present within
workplace. It is the responsibility of the human resource department for managing the work in
effective manner and providing positive environment at workplace. The above research is
primary research in which customers and managers of Tesco are interviewed and interpretations
are made from them. This helps in knowing what are the problems which are faced by Tesco
while implementing the diversity practices within the company.
