CIPD Program is one of the largest service provider in UK which is known for providing
various types of services to the HR and L and D training for the business and individual. The
institute is known to offer various types of services such as the range of HR and L and D as well
as trainings in leadership, management, business skills and other types of personal effectiveness
programs. With the help of the training programs which are provided by the institution people
from various companies have successfully build their career and has moved forward with their
performance in their organization.
Few of the skills which are specifically identified as very important in being a
human resource manager are given below:
Management of interpersonal relationships : Interpersonal skills are known to refer to the
strong association among the individuals who are working together in the same organization. The
human resource is known to have the skills of developing the interpersonal relationship among
the workers who are working in the same organization. An individual who is working in an
organization cannot be working all alone for hours. It is possibly not possible for the person to
work to alone. Human beings are not machines they cannot work at a stretch. It is the work of the
Human Resource to maintain all these things so that the working environment is fitr for the
people who are working. The employees should feel that the higher managerial department will

be always beside them. The human resource should be able to deal with each and every member
present in the team. The team members should be treated equally.
Decision-making and problem-solving: The human resource should have the skills of
problem solving and decision making power which will help the person to deal better with the
clients. The human resource will be able to successfully carry out the problems which are faced
byb the clients. The human resource department should set out plans, make various types of
decisions and execute plans which are rarely taught in the system. The employees should also be
trained enough so that they known how to handle various kinds of problems inside the office.
They can collaboratively solve the problems with the human resource.
Leading and influencing: The human resource also serve the organization with various kinds
of leadership qualities and influences the employees of the organization. The human resource
develops various types of research techniques in judging the employees who is unable to meet
the target which is set by the organization. The HR leaders in the organization has the sole
authority to judge the work and progress update of the employees who are working in the
organization. The Human resource is known to build morale which in a way improves the
satisfaction of the employee. Good employee morale drives employee productivity so as by
building the confidence in the employees that they are capable of achieving the target which is
set by the management of the organization. The Human resource is always present to help the
employees when they feel distracted or suffer from job distraction.
Interpreting financial information: The human resource is responsible for paying the
employees the salaries, therefore the person should have a good knowledge about the policies of
the company.

Management of Interpersonal Relationships
In any organization, managing interpersonal relationships is an important skill that has to
be mastered in order to enhance the motivation and morale of the workforce by forging a friendly
and amicable relationship between them. The objective should be to foster interpersonal
relationships that has a positive effect on individuals and which prevents the emergence of
boredom and dissatisfaction among the workforce. This is a very basic skill in the context of
human resource management that has to be mastered in order to enhance the abilities and
performance of the workforce, which would in turn benefit the organization.
To manage interpersonal relationships, I would take a very friendly approach towards the
workforce and make sure that the individual employees are comfortable and are satisfied with the
kind of work to which they have been assigned. I will ensure that the employees connect with the
organization in a way that makes them feel that their own personal success is the same as the
success of the organization itself. By maintaining good will between the management and
employees, I shall make it certain that there is no place for animosity and hostility between the
two, thereby bringing stability to the internal structure of the environment.The development of

Decision Making and Problem Solving
Decision making and problem solving is an important skill in the operational sphere of
human resource management. Problems would inevitably arise and it may endanger the both the
internal stability of the enterprise and compromise with the quality and output and operations.

Proceeding with the philosophy of prevention being better than any cure, making decisions and
solving problems should go hand-in-hand in order to ascertain that these problems are solved
before they end up harming any aspect of the organization and cause irreparable damage to either
the workforce or to the firm itself.
In order to concretely implement the principles of problem solving and decision making,
I shall consider my colleagues in the organization as equal partners and consider their
suggestions and feedback with my full attention. I shall strive to create an environment where the
employees feel comfortable and confident about confiding on any problems or issues that they
may face. This would not only ensure that problems are addressed as soon as they arise with the
democratic decision taken by the other members of the organization but it would also ensure that
the employee feels valued with the organization. The development of Decision Making and
Problem Solvinghas been referred to in learning log 2.
Leading and Influencing
As a human resource manager, it becomes imperative to inspire employees to work
harder and attain organizational goals within the stipulated time period. This is only possible
through by providing the kind of leadership which inspires, motivates and involves the
employees in the attainment of goals of the enterprise in a collective manner. This is the most
important skill which any manager should strive to grasp, and it becomes all the more important
that a human resource manager attains the ability to lead in a decisive and convincing way to
achieve concrete and positive results.
In order to apply this skill into practice, I would strive to lead by example by being good
at my own work so that I am able to convince employees that they are capable of completing the

Interpreting Finance and Managing Financial Information
Finances are the life-blood of any organization. They make all the tasks of the
organization possible and it is important to keep an oversight on the amount of money being
spent and being earned in order to maintain the organization’s healthy standing as far as finances
are concerned. At the same time, financial irregularities and corruption must be identified and
uprooted not only to maintain the firm’s fiscal stability but to also maintain a good image among
all the key stakeholders in the enterprise in order to raise financial standing as well as good will.
In order to discharge this function with the utmost skill and efficiency, I shall equip
myself with the relevant knowledge pertaining to accounting and other forms of financial
management that would enable me to observe and interpret the nature of all kinds of financial
transaction that the firm undertakes on a daily basis. I must ensure that all the available financial
resources are being utilized in an optimal manner, increasing the organization’s fiscal efficiency
and streamlining financial management processes. I would report on any deficit in finances and I
would be quick to report on any kind of financial irregularities that I might come across to the

Demonstrating People Management Skills
An organization is ultimately a collective made up of individual people who are united in
the attainment of common business or industrial goals. Therefore as a human resource manager,
it becomes important to view every employee as a unique, individual person who may have their
own preferences, likes, dislikes and who may have different expectations. The crux of people
management lies in weaving all of these differences into a single, unified cohesive unit which
nonetheless rewards outstanding, individual effort even while ensuring that the objectives of the
organization are met.
As a human resource manager, I shall strive to recognize the basic humanity of my
colleagues and employees, interacting with them with a sense of understanding, patience and
encouraging them to be better version of themselves professionally. I would not berate them in
the event of them not achieving individual objectives but would instead try to gleam why they
were unable to attain them and ensure that they are able to complete their tasks by making use of
their individual talents and skills. Ultimately, I would consider managing an organization as
managing the varied interests of different individuals and working with them to achieve the
targets that have been set. The development of Demonstrating People Management Skillshas

Learning log
1. In management school I have learnt about the importance of that inter personal
relationships have in the contexts of effective management of the operations of an

organisation. I have been able to realise that personnel in an organisation are some of the
most valuable stakeholders of an organisation. Thus, there exists great importance in the
management of personnel in an organisation. In the course which specialised in personnel
management, I have been able to realise that personnel management is one of the most
crucial aspects that affect the sustainability of an organisation in the long run and hence it
should be the role of employees throughout each levels of management to cater to the
individual needs of the employees in a friendly manner by establishing an organisation
culture that is characterised by a friendly atmosphere. The latter will, help them establish
smooth communication with the management which will encourage smooth
communication between them. Hence, the productivity of the organisation can be
bolstered with the help of the same.
2. In management school I have been able to gain understanding regarding the fact that one
of the most important facts that must be catered to in order to ensure the effectiveness of
operations in an organisation is through team work. I have been faced which I was not
able to cater to individual issues. Thus, needed to take suggestions and help from my
peers who assisted me with the issues which was finally resolved. I realised that
sometimes when one cannot get a problem solved, it is for the best interest of the latter
that they ask for suggestions from other who could provide different perspectives on the
same. Furthermore, while working in group assignments I have been able to identify the
advantages that one might be subject to when they are in groups. Hence, the final
understanding about this topic is that group work and seeking help from other helps in
generating different purviews on a single topic which thus, enhances the process of
decision making.

3. Throughout various occasions in life, I have been able to understand the importance of
the influence that leaders have. Be it a sports team, or any managerial level tea within an
organisation, the leader is the aspect of the organisation that effects the viability of the
organisation in the long run thus affecting the sustainability of the employees in the long
run. It is the role of the leader of an organisation to determine the effectiveness of the
organisation’s employees in performing their said tasks. The leader plays a crucial role in
sustaining the activities that are associated with the development of the operations of the
employees of the organisation. Hence, I have been able to understand the leaders should
identify situations in which they have to take decisions that determine whether they have
to be benevolent or strict. Hence, it is one of the most crucial aspects that affects the
nature of outcomes that the organisation will be subject to with the help of the employees
of the organisation.
4. I have been in situations when I had to develop financial reports. Furthermore, I have also
managed my father’s individual share trading account which has helped me in developing
a favourable understanding of the share prices and the share market in general. Hence, I
am able to effectively understand and interprets financial data through which I have been
able to develop a competency in understanding financial terms, calculations that is
information in general.
5. I have been able to gain effectiveness in understanding the importance of people
management skills which is evidently important for the development of an organisation. I
have been able to gain first hand exposure in managing teams which I had to carry out
while I was a part of project management team. It has helped me in the management of
the activities that were associated with the development of effectiveness of the project

that received favourable grades which helped and the other members of the team in terms
of the grades and the impressions that we received. Hence, the viability of the same will
be crucial in terms of ensuring the sustainability and the goodwill of the organisation that
I would be a part of in the future.
Forward Planning and Self-reflection
a. In order to ensure that I keep on developing throughout my career, I have to ensure that I
have the ability to cater to the need for continuous professional development. I would
have to ensure that I keep myself updated with the standards that exist in terms of the
keeping myself educated with the standards that are practiced by professional, associated
with human resources management. Furthermore, I would need to manage my personal
emotions and separate work life from personal issues which would help me in
maintaining my professionalism while operating in the organisation. It would be my aim
to strive in terms of giving my best while I am operating in the organisation that is
deemed to changing constantly.
b. Developing the portfolio was considered both a challenging and enjoyable task while
developing the same I had to trace back to situations that I have been a part of in the
future. While tracking back the activities I was able to recall incidents through which I
derived utility and was also able to identify loop holes in the activities. The portfolio that
I have been able to develop will help in terms of tracking my personal achievements in
terms of professional development. Furthermore, it has helped in identifying the places in
my professional development that I need to improve upon. My aim is to constantly
upgrade my skills and competency even when I would be operating in organisation
regardless of the nature of operations of the same or the position that I would be working
