INTRODUCTION
Human Resources Decision-Making refers to a process which finds out the most effective
ways through which the decisions can be taken by the HR department (Gawlik and Jacobsen,
2016). It involves taking of decisions so that business as well as employee performance can be
enhanced effectively and efficiently. In this report, analysis will be made on the importance of
maintaining good relations with the employees. Also, the strategies required for building and
improving relations with workers will be analyzed as a part of this report.
MAIN BODY
Maintaining good employee relations
Employee relations refer to the efforts made by the company to manage the relationships
between employees and the organization itself. It is important to ensure maximum efficiency,
effectiveness and productivity of the staff of the company so that the goals and objectives can be
achieved easily.
The strategies which can be adopted by HR department of companies to ensure good
employee relations are as follows-
Adoption of a conductive culture- A conductive culture is good for employees serving
within the organization. Thus this conductive culture is required if good employee
relations have to be maintained within a company. For this the leaders of an organization
need to make sustained efforts. A conductive culture allows the employees to share their
views, grievances, problems etc. so that a solution can be quickly found out and also the
workers can influence the decision-making of the HR department.
Involvement of team members- HR department needs to make sure that the different
teams operating in the organization such as production, finance, HR, sales etc. are given
due involvement in the decision-making of the important matters (Maloney and
McCarthy, 2017). In this way the members of different teams feel secure and feel that
they have been given due importance in the decision-making process. By involving the
team members, the employees can get the rights to take certain decisions by themselves.
Proper communication- Proper communication is required in order to facilitate taking
of right decisions which can benefit an enterprise in the long-run. Thus it is important that
the HR department can consider it so that the employees can influence the decision-
making within an organization.
Recognition- It is necessary for the HR department to provide adequate recognition to
the employees for the work done by them. If proper recognition is provided for the work
then the employees can influence the decision-making within an organization.

Regular team meetings- For the HR department, it is important that it gives due
importance to the team meetings conducted within the organization. The meetings should
not be too formal. These meetings give the employees a chance to share their views and
influence the decision-making of the HR department in the company.
Events- Events like birthdays, holiday parties and other occasions must be held in a
company. This gives a reflection on its HR policies. These initiatives can go a long way
in strengthening the bond between the employees of the company. Also these initiatives
can lead to employees influencing the decision-making in the HR department.
Strategy for improving employee relations
The strategy which can be used by the HR department of a company to improve the
employee relations is as follows-
Promotion of communication- The HR department of an organization needs to promote
communication within all the departments of the organization (Salas-Vallina and
Fernandez, 2017). This will allow the employees to be a part of HR decision-making
process and will effectively improve the relations with the workers.
Focus on mission and values- The HR department needs to focus at mission and values
of the company (Strategies to improve employee relations, 2020). This ensures that the
employees take the decisions effectively and thus it is important to maintain strong
relations with them.
Making employees feel valuable- If the HR department makes the employees to feel
valuable within the company it positively boosts up their morale and motivation level.
This makes good relations with the workers and also allows them to take various
decisions for the benefit of the company.
Inspire and Reward- HR department of an organization can launch certain incentives
and bonuses to reward those workers whose performance has been very good in the
organization. This develops good relationships with the workers of an enterprise and
leads to taking of different decisions by the employees themselves which enhances their
skills and capabilities.
Career development- The HR department of an organization can focus on career
development. It can provide advice to employees about their future career and the wide
opportunities which are available for the growth. This ensures development of good
relationships with the employees and also leads to development of decision-making
abilities within the workers as they learn to take decisions which can shape their future.
Thus the role of HR department is quite crucial here in terms of providing valuable career
advice to workers.
Work-Life Balance- Work-Life Balance is a must. It is so because when work-life
balance is maintained it motivates the employees to work hard and display efficiency and
effectiveness in their work. Also the workers get time off which they can spend with their

family. Thus the role of HR department of a company is important here as it needs to
promote work-life balance to maintain relations with the employees and also allow them
to take certain decisions for the benefit of the company.
Use of software to streamline redundancy and eliminate mistakes- Softwares can be
used in order to streamline the redundancy and eliminate the mistakes. This will develop
better relationships with employees and also allow them to take decisions (Shantz, Alfes
and Arevshatian, 2016). Also, their stress will be reduced. This will lead to an increase in
efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of the workers which will allow the
organization to achieve its goals, objectives and targets in the future time period.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that HRM decision-making is an important
process within the processes of the company. There are many strategies which a company can
use to take the right decisions for maintaining the employee relations. Also, strategies can be
used for improving the employee relations.
