without HR professionals successful planning or without good human resource management.
According to Madera et al. (2017), HR managers performs effective recruitment and selection
procedure in order to select the right person for the right place and enhances the performance
level of the company. Performance appraisals and maintaining a good working environment is
another most important role that HR managers play in order to increase employee performance
and to manage disputes of business precisely. In the case of travel and tourism, the HR
manager also establishes good public relation by establishing seminar, meetings and various
official gatherings to increase their communication and interaction level with all stakeholders in a
systematic way.
In the case of Ultimate Travel Company, HR managers provide detail information to travel
agents based on their facilities, tour packages and special discount offer to increase their
communication level with the public (theultimatetravelcompany.co.uk, 2019). Another important
role that HR professionals play in the selected company is the recruitment procedure. They
check all certificate of a candidate, past histories and past working experience in order to check
their capabilities based on public relation. Open discussion is performed by HR professionals to
understand the employees' present demand and manage the issues to keep their employees all
the time motivated.

Task 2
Introduction
In this section of the study, present relation between the employees and management of
hospitality industry will be discussed so that employee retention rate can be improved. Further,
it has been noted that management fails to take care of the employees due to work culture.
2.1 Investigate and assess the current state of employment relations within the service
sector perspective in the UK (P2.1)
Present employees of hospitality organisations are not satisfied by the employment condition
because of plethora of reasons. Additionally, the employees have mentioned that, in hospitality
organisations employees are paid less as compared to their job responsibilities. Trade unions
have been formed so that issues of the employees can be solved. Trade unions are considered
as the representatives of employees so, that their interest can remain protected. The relation
between the employees and management is getting affected because of following reasons:
In effective training
As per the literary underpinnings of the scholars, in hospitality organisations effective trainings
are not being provided to the employees. Thus, their skill level gets affected. Therefore, it is
suggested that employees need to be provided training on regular basis so that they can serve
the customers effectively. After providing training appraisal assessments need to be conducted
so that effectiveness of training procedures can be maintained (thecaterer.com, 2019).
Communication
It has been noted that in hospitality industry employees fail to maintain an effective
communication with the management due to work pressure. Moreover, due to lack of
communication management fails to analyse the issues of the employees. Thus, rate of
employee turnover is increasing at a rapid rate. For instance, in UK, the employee turnover rate
has reached 30% due to lack of training, communication and salary (thecaterer.com, 2019).
Less permanent employees
In hospitality sector demand of part time and seasonal employees are increasing at a rapid rate
because no individuals want to stay in the profession for a long time. This issue can be solved if
employees are communicated on regular basis, provided training and incentives.
2.2 Identify and discuss how various employment laws affect the management of human
resources in the UK with a focus on the service sector (P2.2)
ACAS (Conciliation and Arbitration Service): this service is a non-departmental public body that
is operated and maintained by the government of UK. Main purpose of this public body is to

improve working culture and environment of company in order to increase employee retention
rate. It highly focuses on employees’ career growth and facilities such as promotion and other
benefits of employees that raises relation in between employee and employer. ACAS is an
independent and fair organisation and it does not favour any kind of specific groups.
Furthermore, this service is popularly known for its collective conciliation function as it solves
disputes that occurred in between workers and trade unions in front of employers (Advisory,
2013) frequently represent these issues.
Employment legislation: Employment law manages systematic relationship in between workers
and employers. It has been seen that this law monitors expectation of employees from their
employers and vice versa. Employment right Act is passed in 1996 so that each employee can
get right environment in his or her working areas (Legislation.gov.uk, 2018). This Act covers a
vast range of areas, which are mentioned below:
Employment particulars
Protection of wages
Guarantee payments during employment
Protected disclosures
Sunday working for the shops along with betting workers
General exclusions from rights
Protection from suffering detriment in employment
Time off work
Suspension from the work
Maternity leave
Flexible working
Parental leaves

Effects of employment law in Ultimate Travel Company are as follows:

their sex, religion, beliefs and other factors.

and experiences.
