Why is the issue of underemployment of foreign-trained persons important to Canadian
employers?
There are high chances of shrinkage of population as birth rate is low. Canada will fail to
maintain same level of economic growth and would have to produce more goods and services. At
the same time the immigrants are also readily available to work at lower wages, even if they have
skills, than acceptable. Hence, immigration is a question for Canadian economy as well and
therefore, underemployment of foreign trained persons is important to Canadian employers
(Randstad, 2017).
